A century ago, the world was rewritten. One moment, Earth was normal — the next, it became game-like: people woke up with visible status bars, levels, and skills. Worse, horrific "Starborn Beasts" descended from the heavens, their sole purpose to annihilate or enslave humanity.
For the first fifty years, humanity was almost erased. Half of the world's landmass — entire continents — became corrupted into Monster Zones: nightmarish places where physics bent, reality twisted, and only the beasts thrived. Humanity barely survived, rallying under a system of Guild Cities, fortified mega-cities protected by elite Players who levelled up fast enough to fight back.
Today, humanity and monsters are locked in a deadlock — neither side advancing. For every new Player born, three die in the Zones. Hope is stagnant.
You are Arin Vale, a ten-year-old boy from a forgotten district near the frontline. Upon awakening as a Player, you obtained a forbidden Talent — Devour — a skill rumored to have destroyed civilizations during the early days of the Rewrite. It allows you to absorb the powers of fallen monsters... but it comes at a cost. Each time you Devour, part of your soul erodes, pushing you closer to becoming the very thing you're fighting against.
