Chapter 7 - The Mysterious Quirk

I'm 9 years old now and I feel like I'm not using my time to the fullest, but there's not much more I can be doing right now. I want to go find All Might and prove that I can be his successor, but that will be difficult.

I mean what do I do? Go up to him and say, hey All Might I know all about One For All, your injury and All For One? I mean I could… but I don't see that ending well.

I want to prevent the Villain attacks that happen at UA, but the same problem occurs. All I have going for me is my word, they will just think I'm some crazy Quirk-less kid.

Either way Kacchan joined my training 4 years ago, but unfortunately…. He stopped coming to practice last year. Knowing Kacchan, he was probably getting too stir crazy to continue the training we were.

On the other hand, me and Kacchan are more like rivals, as we will be in the future. We hang out sometimes and go out and race as well.

I continued to train day in and day out, and I studied more and more in order to get a better understanding of the world around me. In fact I started to design a few things that would come in handy for me.

I made a redesign of my Hero Outfit. It has the features of my original Hero costume Gamma, but it is to be able to stand more force being applied to the suit. In addition to that I added clear goggles, so that nothing could get thrown into my eyes to blind me too easily.

Other than the everyday things, I've noticed something strange that just started happening last year. Kaito Sensei was sparing with me and I swear he was using the same moves over and over.

Almost like the same moves were being played out several times in a row. I wonder... what that could've been about? I should mention it to Kaito Sensei next time we spar, which would be after dinner tonight.

I walk into the dining room and ask "Hey mom, what's for Dinner?"

Mom sets the table and responds back "Your favorite, pork cutlet."

My mouth waters a bit as I sit down excitedly at the table while she brings over the food.

She sets it down and before I dig in I say "You're the best, mom."

We eat dinner and then I head off to Kaito Sensei's place for our training by myself. Last year mom started letting me go there on my own. Of course, when I got home that first day, she still checked me over to make sure I was alright. Honestly…. She worries too much, but nevertheless I love my mom.

I come upon the Aizawa residence and I see Chisa hanging on a guy with a shaggy appearance. He kind of looks like Mr. Aizawa… I wonder...

I go up to them and say "Hi Chisa neechan, who is this?"

She smirks and responds "He's my boyfriend Izuku.. Why are you jealous?"

"What? No!" I hastily respond.

Pushing Chisa off of him he says "Don't make up stuff, Cousin" with half-open eyes.

"Aww, you're no fun. This is my Cousin, Shota Aizawa" she says disappointingly.

So it is Mr. Aizawa, it doesn't look like he has changed much from now until when he will be teaching our homeroom class "Hello Mr. Aizawa, my name is Izuku Midoriya."

"Enough with the formalities kid. Just call me Shota or you can call me like you do for Chisa, I could care less." he says offhandedly.

I cock my head at him "Okay, Shota niichan."

"Izuku right?"

"Yes sir!"

"Seriously formalities… again."

"Sorry" I reply sheepishly while rubbing the back of my head.

"Anyway, so uncle took you as his disciple, is that right?"

"Yes, that's right."

"I see…. I might be coming around more often, if that happens, would you want to spar?"

"Oh! Sure."

"Alright. Chisa I have to go, I have work to do."

"Alright, be careful" she yells out.

"Don't be so irrational, of course I'm careful" he responds heading off.

"So Izuku... I don't know if I ever told you this, but I'm glad you haven't stopped coming to our home to learn."

"Of course, if I want any chance of being a Hero… I need all the help I can get."

"I'm not doubting you perse, but your friend wasn't happy with the pace of our training, he was always expecting to move on to the next thing right away."

"Ah… Kacchan doesn't exactly have a lot of patience. Sorry about that."

"Oh, don't worry. At least you didn't quit. More importantly my cousin doesn't have much of a social life, so whenever I can get him to get out more I'm really happy."

"I see…"

"Yeah... You might not know it, but what he said, is about as good as a guarantee that he will come over."

"I see… well I need to talk to Kaito Sensei about something in private that is throwing me off. Chisa neechan, please don't eavesdrop."

"Awww, why would I do something like that. You make it seem like I spy on other people's dirty laundry" she pouts.

"I'm serious, Chisa neechan!" I chastise her.

"Fine Izuku, but let me know if there is something I can do to help."

"I will, I just need to figure out what's going on first."

I leave Chisa neechan behind and run to the back where the dojo is.

I open the door and yell out "I'm here Kaito Sensei."

"Come in, Izuku" he waves me in.

I sit down and nervously say "Kaito Sensei, I have something I need help with…"

"Oh, what is troubling you my disciple.

"Well… I'm not sure how to tell you this but…. I think I might have a really unorthodox Quirk."

"Oh? And what pray tell, would this Quirk's abilities be?" he looks at me with an appraising eye.

"Well… from what I can tell… going back in time."

"I see… and what led you to the belief that you possess this 'unorthodox Quirk' Izuku?" he asks skeptically.

"Well, when we spar… I feel like we are actually sparing several times."

"I see… well that would explain one thing…" he says rubbing his chin.

"Huh? Explain what Kaito Sensei?" I ask confused.

"Well… I don't know how to tell you this, but your eyes are green right?"

"Yes" I'm still not getting what Kaito Sensei is getting at.

"Well sometimes, during our spars... I noticed that your eyes glow silver."

"What?!" I yell out.

"It started when you were 8 and I figured it was a Quirk. I wasn't sure what kind though, but what makes you think you're going back in time and not getting visions of the future."

I uncomfortably start saying "Well….. I can't be 100% sure, but I have something to confide in you about. Can you promise me that you won't talk about this to anyone."

"Of course I can, go ahead Izuku."

"So… I may not actually be a normal 9 year old kid."

"No kidding, I mean what other kid pushes himself through training beyond their age?"

"I'm serious… I'm not 9 years old, I guess I'm more like…. technically 20 on the inside at least."

"What do you mean Izuku?" he asks curiously.

"What I mean is, when I was 16 years old, something happened and the next thing I know I wake up in my 4 year old self."

"That's…. very interesting…"

"Don't you believe me?"

"Hmm… let's try something…" he says and quickly gets up and pulls a dagger out of nowhere and swing it at me.

"Wait!!" I yell out, but then the next thing I know I see Kaito Sensei sitting there once more.

"Hmm… let's try something…"

Oh crap "Stop Sensei, don't draw your dagger!" I yell out before he attacks me.

"Well then, it doesn't matter what I believe now. Considering you knew what I was about to do before I did it."

Whew that was close, wait… why do I feel like I just went out for a jog.

"There has got to be better ways to do it!" I yell at him.

"Don't worry Izuku, I wasn't even attacking you, I was going to slice the air above you."

"I see…."

"Now, your eyes glowed Silver again. At the very least your Quirk gives you a clairvoyance ability, based entirely on your person."

"Kaito Sensei, you still don't completely believe me do you?" I ask him disappointingly.

"It's not that that I don't believe you Izuku, but you have to admit it's difficult to believe the entirety of what you are saying…" he responds while shaking his head.

"I do, but I remember when I met All Might, when my mother cried for me to stop going to UA High school and I even remember the pain of my bones shattering."

"What did you do to shatter your bones?" he asks with worry.

"That… isn't my secret to tell Kaito Sensei."

"What do you mean?" he looks upset.

"I made a promise not to tell anyone" I look at him with determination.

"I see.. Can I know who you made or in this case will make the promise to?"

"All Might."

"Your Idol…. Hmm… this is interesting. For now, let's get your quirk registered."

"But…." I look at him uneasily.

"I know, we aren't going to register it as what you think it actually is."

"No Sensei. We can't" I say decisively.

"Why? It would be easier for you if people knew you had a Quirk, even if it didn't appear very useful" he asks puzzled about why I would say that.

"I can't tell you, yet. Just trust me Kaito Sensei, I might be able to tell you in a couple years if i'm lucky."

"Alright, I'll trust you Izuku. I'm starting to think you really are a lot older than you appear."

"Yeah… mom was really worried for a while that someone replaced me" I reply sheepishly.

He starts laughing "Haha… I can see that, your mom is a bit of a worry-wort, anyway let's get started. You know it's a good thing we had this talk today and not tomorrow, when you would be so tired that you could barely walk."

I laugh bitterly "Yeah that's true."

"Let's switch it up today, we are gonna try and get you to be able to consciously activate your Quirk."

"I see.. How are we going to do that?" I ask.

He gives me a devilish grin that promises hell "No, Kaito Sensei. Isn't there another way?"

"Nope" he replies while rushing at me.

I spend the next hour trying to consciously activate my Quirk with little results.

"Alright, let's end it here for today.

I collapse on the ground exhausted "Thanks, Kaito Sensei."

"No problem Izuku. Why don't you head home for today, tomorrow and for the foreseeable future we will be doing Quirk activation training."

I cringe upon hearing that "Is there another way other than sparring Sensei."

"Oh yes, because if you could only activate it when you're in combat on accident, then what's the point. I have a couple ideas that we will go over tomorrow."

"Alright… I'll see you tomorrow Sensei" I wave as I start heading home.
