Chapter 300 - Chapter 300: Jasmine's Status

"You seem sad. What's the matter?" Asked Alexander curiously as he glanced at Jasmine while dashing across the dirt trail, following the map of the Nsemo continent to the Crestfallen Kingdom.

"Ah, it's nothing, Alex. Just thinking, that's all." Replied Jasmine softly as she glanced at Alexander before shifting her gaze behind him with a worried look, causing him to shake his head.

"You're concerned about Fugon? Don't worry, the boy will live." "But how do you know? There are so many dangers in a forest; it was irresponsible of us to leave a child like that alone." Remarked Alexander and Jasmine, respectively, as the former raised an eyebrow before lightly shaking his, gazing at the latter, who looked at him with an unsightly expression.

"It would've been more irresponsible to take him with us. We did the best we could for him; I even awakened his mana, and we prepared him as much as we could. Besides, I'm confident he'll live; you let him experience what it feels like to be hugged by a woman; even if he is just a boy, he will never forget that sensation." Stated Alexander lightly as he glanced at Jasmine with a reassuring smile, only to faintly smirk while nodding, causing her to sigh.

"Haa, I hope so. Whatever to get him to live." Muttered Jasmine softly as she lowered her head, resting against Alexander's shoulder.

As Jasmine descended into silence, only the sound of my footsteps was heard while we continued to run across the dirt trail; it's been nearly ten hours since we left that city, and it was already evening; as a matter of fact, it was almost night. I planned to hide in the forest soon, but I wanted to get just a little bit further away from that city; ever since we left, my heart's been constantly warning me, which has been unsettling me since.

'Honestly, it's probably Jasmine's fault for healing Fugon; that probably gave us away.' Thought Alexander lightly as he glanced at Jasmine, whose eyes were closed, resting against his shoulder.

Although I was most likely right, I couldn't be mad at her; she did something I would've done, and it only fueled my desire to get her back home to safety.

'I just hope I don't die along the way.' Thought Alexander with a wry expression as he glanced at the dim sky before looking behind him.

Using [Heroes Gaze], I looked behind us, searching for any signs of assassins stealthily following us, yet after a minute of looking, I ended up empty-handed; however, even so, my heart was still warning me.

With no one on our immediate tail, I leaped into the air, using [Air Step] to dash across the sky as I entered the forest, going far deeper than I would've usually gone as I was slightly paranoid, though rightfully so.

After another several minutes of dashing across the sky, using Air Steps continuously, I landed in a somewhat dense area in the forest, which wouldn't act as a good camp, but it would be a great hiding spot.

"Oh, we're done for today?" Asked Jasmine lightly as she opened her eyes and observed her surroundings before glancing at Alexander, who nodded while setting her down.

"Yeah. Here's my space pouch; you can set up camp if you want. I'm going to get us some food." Replied Alexander with a nod as he handed Jasmine his pouch before leaping onto a branch and traversing between each one, vanishing within the thick canopy of the forest.

I made sure to stay close to Jasmine, so it took a bit longer to find food, but I managed to hunt a ferret, which wasn't big; though, I didn't really have to eat, so I didn't mind going to sleep on an empty stomach, my blood kept me in peak condition, which meant food and water weren't a necessity, simply a privilege I enjoyed abusing.

Taking a few minutes to butcher the animal, using Trina as I no longer had a dagger, I apologetically glanced at my silent sword, though again, no words were exchanged, only silence. Once finished, I used my fire to burn the rest of the remains, which I hated doing, but we were too close to camp to leave a corpse for other animals to eat; I used the wind to disperse the smell and smoke throughout the nearby forest, making it impossible to detect.

When nothing but ash remained, I, too, spread that throughout the forest before returning to Jasmine, who had long since finished creating a campfire with stones, sticks, and leaves.

"Thanks." Said Alexander as he smiled at Jasmine, who nodded while watching him sit down.

Grabbing a pan from my space pouch, I set the campfire on fire and held the pan above the fire as I placed the pieces of meat on the pot, adding salt, pepper, and olive oil to the meal, which was the only spices I had, though it was better than nothing.

"Alex, what was that golden liquid you had Fugon drink?" Asked Jasmine curiously after a moment of silence as she leaned against the tree while looking at Alexander, who faintly smirked while handing her Trina.

"Here, cut me. Just a small cut." Said Alexander with a smirk as he outstretched his arm toward Jasmine, causing her to furrow her brows before hesitantly grabbing Trina.

With careful movements, Jasmine left a shallow cut on my wrist, barely enough for a few drops of blood to escape before my wrist healed, though that was enough for her.

"It's your blood? Golden blood." Muttered Jasmine softly as she looked at Alexander, only for her eyes to widen in shock and disbelief.

"A-Are you a-a d-demi-g-god!?" Exclaimed Jasmine as she looked at Alexander, her golden eyes widened to their limit while Alexander laughed.

"Haha, no, I'm not." "T-Then, a h-half-Dragon?" Remarked Alexander and Jasmine, respectively, as the former shook his head with a smile while the latter hesitantly looked at him.

Shaking my head, I flipped the pieces of meat before glancing at Jasmine, who seemed more confused than shocked at this point.

"Um, a God? A Dragon?" Asked Jasmine in confusion as she rubbed her head while looking at Alexander, who shook his head both times, causing her to look blankly at him.

"Nope. I'm not anyone special. Well, I am a High-Human, but other than that, I'm normal. Just a dude with a few cool abilities." Replied Alexander lightly with a faint chuckle as he looked at Jasmine, whose eyes widened once more.

"H-High-Human? Y-You're also one!?" Exclaimed Jasmine in shock as she eyed Alexander, who furrowed his brows while nodding, causing her to hesitantly outstretch her hand.

"I-I know this is rude of me to ask, Alex. B-But may I look at your status? Y-You can look at mine if you want as well." Asked Jasmine softly as she looked at Alexander, who glanced at her hand before nodding.

With my eyes faintly glowing, I grabbed Jasmine's hand, only for that uncomfortable sensation to wash through me as she viewed my status; shaking my head, I looked at her and did the same, though what I saw wasn't what I was expecting.

I ignored the skills section as the sheer number of them was astonishing, though almost all of them were non-combat related; I suppose when you consider that she's a princess, it's no surprise there.

Once I finished viewing her Status, I shifted my focus back to cooking, though I couldn't really do much with one of my arms tied down still.

"So, um, you nearly finished? I have a decent amount of skills, but you don't really need to read them all." Asked Alexander lightly as he looked at Jasmine, who gulped before tightly clenching his hand, causing his expression to twitch.

"Alex, you… You're the true Hero." "Um, I don't know what you mean by that." Remarked Jasmine and Alexander, respectively, as the former stared at the latter with hopeful eyes, causing him to tilt his head in confusion.

"O-Oh, I suppose you don't know what I mean; you're not from here." Muttered Jasmine softly as she released Alexander's hand, allowing him to cook while she silently gazed at him, only for her expression to twitch.

"I should hit you for saying you only have a few cool abilities, you know that." Added Jasmine as she eyed Alexander, who chuckled in amusement while averting his gaze.

"Well, I didn't expect you to suddenly ask to view my status after I said I was a High-Human. Though I'm surprised to find another person like me; I thought I was the last one." Stated Alexander lightly as he looked at Jasmine, who nodded in agreement, only to curiously raise an eyebrow.

"Regarding your titles, Alex. What does 'Prince of the Dryads' Mean?" "Heh, oh, that's a LONG story; I'll keep you up all night, so let's save that once we get you back home, Princess Jasmine." Said Jasmine and Alexander, respectively, as the former curiously glanced at the latter, who wryly chuckled before shaking his head, only to playfully smirk.
