When Joel Russo finally rested, it was midnight.
Arabella Vanderbilt was like a puddle of weak water, nestled in Joel Russo's arms, her eyes gently closed, her eyelashes trembling with her breath, too exhausted to even move a fingertip.
After a long while, Arabella was carried by the still energetic man into the bathroom.
When she was placed in the bathtub filled with hot water, Arabella slightly opened her eyes, suddenly feeling as if she had died and come back to life.
Joel Russo leaned down and gently kissed her lips.
His voice was remorseful yet still husky:
"You rest, I'll wash you."
Arabella's fingers resting on the edge of the bathtub moved slightly, as she lacked the strength to even speak, eventually she slowly blinked her eyes, her intentions unclear.
But Joel had already started to carefully wash her body.
Her eyelids fluttered quickly before returning to calm.
The steam rose again in the bathroom, and Arabella's eyelashes trembled.
