The crowd didn't fully understand what's going on, but they do know that these 'Culinary Arts,' as these humans are called, are truly marvelous.
Everything was harmonious as they moved: their actions, the atmosphere, the music, and the smell...god, the smell...
Everyone here had evolved to the point where they no longer needed food to survive. Even the fanciest meal commercial worlds could offer no longer whets their appetite, yet, lo, an exception appeared. Just the smell alone caused their long-forgotten appetites to return. The faint grumbling of their stomachs surprised them; some were even salivating already.
They haven't even seen the actual food yet. This was just the scent.
