Cedric spent five years teetering between complete and semi-lucidity as his breakthrough happened.
Most of the time, his mind is completely immersed in the sensations; sometimes he would regain some semblance of awareness to know what's happening around him.
His inner world manifested steadily throughout the entire process. With the protection of the chancellors themselves, his security truly couldn't get any better than this.
Strangely enough, though, despite his steady breakthrough, Cedric never showed any outrageous changes in his physical form, unlike others before him. He still looked relatively the same; his appearance was greatly enhanced, but that's about it.
It couldn't be compared to the changes within him.
