Chapter 2 - A Cursed Betrayal: Part II

In the vicinity of the woods, a handsome young man with a scar all around his forehead arrived in a grand conference room which, had well-lit space with a circular dark wood table, high-backed chairs, mystical symbols on the walls, modern lighting, and large windows that bring an air of openness and authority, a very different atmosphere than the old conference room where the old circle of higher ups used to meet.

"You are late" an old man with a white traditional kimono said

"What do you mean, I am right on time", the black headed man said after taking off what looked like a long weapon wrapped in a black pack, before taking place

"Being on time is being late, young man. A higher up position is not to be taken lightly"

"Geez grandpa when are you going to stop commenting on every little thing younger people do?" a gorgeous woman with white hair said.

"When those seats full of young unexperimented sorcerers would be replaced by people my age"

"You'll be dead by now" she added

"Tragic, now I know what it feels like to die before seeing what you have all worked for come true, or in some cases it never does, even after being sealed away" he added making his speech about someone that a lot of people here were still grieving.

Yuta closed his eyes briefly, suppressing the flicker of anger bubbling beneath his composed exterior.

"Anyway, what was the purpose of this reunion? I am certain it wasn't solely to hear you mock the one who sacrificed his life so that fociles like you would seat on such a prestigiouse seat"" he inquired.

"You, little"

"That's enough", the dark green hair woman said "We were summoned to speak about an issue that is related to the Gojo Clan"

"And what would be that about?" Another sorcerer asked

"It is about an old affair that could tarnish and weaken the clan greatly but also threaten the balance of the jujutsu world, that mission was supposed to be taken care of by Gojo Satoru himself, but after his death that mission was classified as closed, until someone sensed the presence of that old affair in question"

"Care to explain what this is all about?"

"We have detected an anomaly," the old man in the white traditional kimono began, his voice carrying the weight of authority and years of experience. "A presence lingering in another dimension. Someone from the Gojo clan."

The murmurs around the table ceased instantly. Eyes darted toward the black-haired man who had just settled into his seat, his expression darkening at the mention of the clan.

"That should be impossible," the white-haired woman interjected, her arms crossed. "Gojo Satoru is dead."

"And yet, here we are," the old man retorted. "The residual energy was detected at a shrine in the outskirts. It belongs to Okuno."

The name sent a ripple through the room. Okuno was a mystery, a ghost within the records of Jujutsu history, known only to a few.

Yuta Okkotsu narrowed his eyes. "You want us to investigate?"

"There is nothing to investigate, we have to send a group of people to take care of it." Mei Mei confirmed

"Alright I'll try to form a group and go there to get rid of that curse" Suggested Yuta

The old man let out a small chuckle, devoid of humor. " I have already taken the liberty to send a group of sorcerers there."

"And who could they be?" a longed black haired, 37 year old woman asked

"Well, it is a trio" the old man responded before being abruptly cut by Ichiji's sudden shout

"No way you didn't..." he said in sweat as he was reading the message that Megumi sent him about a mysterious shrine that appeared within the mountains.

"Tell me old man on what ground did you think that you could trap people into solving a case that doesn't have anything to do with them"

"They are a part of the jujutsu world, they are sorcerers who are almost considered as higher ups, and one of them is rumored to take place as a teacher at the establishment of Tokyo"

"And on what authority did you think you could do that?" The black headed woman asked

"Utahime, your mouth became uncontrollable following his death. His ending was the result of his stupide idea to fight us instead of supporting us, and look where it got him, protecting one of his students that ended up killing him."

Half a second later, the dark shadow of a heavy and armored body started to consume him, but the old man was stoic, he didn't fear nor panic.

"Rika, come back," Yuta said with a calm melancholy in his eyes, a quiet sadness that seemed to echo something long accepted.

The skeletal face with glowing red eyes, submitted to her master's request immediately

"Is that why you sent Yujin there? You still think of him as a threat?"

"That young man is and will forever be a mistake, inside of his vein Sukuna's powers resides" he added as he was opening his left eye

"Even though your arguments about Yujin's death is laughable, what about the two others? Why did you send them into something that even us as higher ups can't handle" Utahime added

"As long as I want this boy gone, I still want the mission of getting rid of the Gojo clan's curse vanished, with his companions we still have a chance to eliminate Okuno"

"I don't believe a word you say old man", Maki said "If your sole objective was to get rid of that curse, you would have consulted the idea first and think of another kind of scheme to get rid of Yujin"

"I don't allow my personal feelings to meddle with my work, but I don't hide them either"

"As if anyone here believe you" Yuta added, he said before leaving the conference room.

"Yuta wait you can't just leave; we need to discuss a plan to get them back"

"Well, I'll go get them"

"As a higher up you can't just leave, what if something happens to you? What if you don't make it all back?" Mei Mei said.

"Allow me to follow you" she added

"I won't be able to pay you"

"Worry not, I know where and how I can get my money from this situation"

"And you don't even hide it", Utahime said as she was getting up from her seat, followed by Ichiji

"Why hide it when everybody already knows my motives?" she added

"You got a point" Maki responded

"Alright let's take that reunion somewhere else, shall we?" Utahime said

"I see, so you decided to conspire against me behind my back", Yoshinobu added as calm as usual.

"Let me ask you a question. How do you think the big families would react?"

"Ichiji call them", he ordered

"Already done, sir"

"What a bunch of immature children you are, how could you even think of surpassing someone with more experience than you? Did you really think that I didn't have allies outside of this council?"

"Allow me to agree on that part sir, you certainly don't" he responded as he created a veil that consumed the conference room

"What in the??"

"How could you? Did you forget about the one who brought you here Ichiji? How could you betray me?"

"Oh no I don't, mister Okotsu here and sir Gojo might he rest in peace prepared for my place to be here"

"That miserable…" the old man thought, as the veil thickened around them like a noose.

The lights flickered and died. The walls moaned under the weight of the cursed energy now pulsing through the room.

"Ichiji," the old man growled, "you fool—you'll doom us all."

"I'm simply following through," Ichiji replied, his silhouette distorted by the shimmering barrier, "on a promise made by men greater than you."

"The shrine we need to get there before it disappears" Yuta said

"I have already sent people their sir" Ichiji replied

"So?" Mei Mei asked

"No shrine was found"

"Alright, Mei Mei what about your crows, what did they find"

"Well as predicted, my crows were able to be detected by that old man, they were destroyed immediately"

"Great, how are we going to get to others now"

"Well I might have let another one of my crows follow someone less perceptive."

"And who could that be?"

"Someone from the Gojo clan, the main sorcerer, Arisu mayazaki, the old man met him, that man is known for teleportation powers, and was also the one responsible for continuing the searches concerning Okuno"

"The problem remains that even if we speak to him, he won't budge. He might even go as far as sacrificing his whole clan by going against the higher up and the other big families to prevent us from getting to them" Urahime said, somehow annoyed that the Gojo clan had fallen so low because of their hero's disappearance.

"Corrupted geezers" Urahime murmured, remembering old memories of her in her teen and 20's being stuck from going against anything that came from the elders, she hated herself for that, for wasting so much time fearing them. As she was internally boiling, she felt a hand on her shoulder, it was Yuta's.

"Let's not lose hope so quickly", he said smiling, "He might have the main sorcerer in hand, but the chief of that clan remains our dearest ally. At least that's what Satoru said"

"Yuta my dear", an old woman said "How lovely to see you".....
