Thinking about it, York could only conclude that the old man was either an angel in disguise or, even more outrageously, the object of his nightly tales—God Himself. Otherwise, how could such an extraordinary world remain so calm?
After all, every mythical god seemed to exist here.
York shook his head, "The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it gets. Let's deal with the current situation first."
He sighed, beginning to feel the changes in his body. His power surge was undeniable.
York had a strong sense that his upgrade was not over. The transformation following the breakthrough of his mental power to 600 was just the beginning.
Already, he could see Erin's true form and felt an illusion of control over everything, even more potent than when he entered the particle state after his life attribute had passed 600.
The particle state made him feel like he could control the universe, but in reality, each use brought immense strain to his body. York felt that attempting to manipulate particles beyond his limit would cause him to explode like a grenade.
So, York always felt that when he could control the microscopic universe of particles without feeling any pressure, he would truly be a god.
At that point, he would transcend the confines of any single world or planet and ascend to the level of the cosmos, seeing not just the Earth but the entire universe.
This sense of control after breaking 600 in his mental attribute baffled him, as he truly felt stronger than ever before. Everything before him felt like toys—humans, planes, everything.
The plane suddenly shook with a boom and soared into the sky under the watchful eyes of the clergy outside.
The heavy sensation of takeoff did not disturb York, who was lost in his contemplation of his newfound abilities.
Even when Erin came over to report, he didn't notice. He stared blankly ahead, perceiving a rapidly changing space.
As his mental power increased, the scenery in his eyes transformed. The airplane's interior shifted into a pure white space. Guided by intuition, York extended his hand, moving at will.
In that instant, everything seemed to pause.
Even Erin, in his mind and his field of vision, along with the plane's cabin, seemed frozen.
Time seemed to be under his control.
"An illusion?" York muttered, looking at his hand, which he could feel was filled with a special type of cell, akin to particles.
Everything in his sight flowed—not just his constructed space but also air and dust. York felt he could control these elements through his mental power, altering their flow to change his hand or body.
For the first time, he saw his internal cells clearly, understanding their operation and how they moved.
The speed at which cells flowed exceeded this world's definition of velocity, multiplying by hundreds of billions each second, making his body feel like a universe unto itself.
As he continued to evolve, he even felt these cells had their own thoughts.
"No, this isn't an illusion!" York exclaimed, looking at his hand. He could now control the cells, molecules, and everything with his mind.
York watched his hand, seeing the astonishing information it revealed. He laughed bitterly, "I think I understand."
Previously, he had delved into physics, biology, and cell biology to understand life. He was a top physicist and biologist.
He knew cells needed energy to function. People aged and died because their cells lacked energy and began to die.
Cells dying was an irreversible phenomenon ending life.
"Do my cells have independent consciousness?" York mused. "With this upgrade, have my cells evolved to immortality? But due to my body's condition and the continuous supply of energy, they remain controlled within me. I maintain my individual form amid the rapid flow and reproduction."
York felt stunned by this discovery, which suggested he had transcended.
Even his consciousness had surpassed his body's limits. His body persisted because he willed it, with his now-conscious cells maintaining his form.
Reaching this point, York had an epiphany.
His body existed because he willed it. If he stopped willing it, his body would disintegrate into conscious cells, akin to particles with self-awareness.
Simultaneously, like controlling particles to form shapes, York could now manipulate his body to change sizes and forms at will.
He could transform into a giant or shrink to the size of a dust particle.
"Cells with consciousness form a massive network, like particles making up matter. They can change sizes and forms as I wish," York realized, understanding his new abilities.
He could now change into various shapes, control his organs, eyes, and more. This also meant he could restructure surrounding molecules.
With a mere thought, he could alter someone's form or life and death.
"This 600 breakthrough is indeed overwhelming but understandable," York scanned the space around him.
Initially confused, he soon realized this was his mental space, akin to a demon's mental world or Alessa's inner and outer worlds.
He now had his own true mental world, and since he hadn't created anything, it remained blank.
York glanced at the real world, folded like pages in a book, seeing Erin and the plane.
This was his mental space, running at an extremely fast pace, making the real world seem paused.
Like a car moving at light speed would vanish to human eyes, leaving only time to prove its existence.
"Can I control time's speed?" York's expression became calm as he understood his state.
His current state allowed his consciousness, his mind, to re-simulate the world.
He remained here by choice. If he let go, his body would dissolve, and his consciousness would ascend to another dimension or place, viewing this world like a writer penning a script.
At that point, he could control time, space, and all laws of this written world.
"So I can traverse this three-dimensional world freely in my simulation space?" York pondered, "and perform some degree of time reversal."
Following his thoughts, York blinked, and his simulation space integrated the world Erin occupied.
In an instant, York's white space became the real world again.
He snapped his fingers, and time resumed.
Erin's voice followed, "Bishop, this is a message from Hilly."
She seemed unaware of what had just happened.
York nodded, taking the report from Erin, sighing inwardly as he read.
Hilly's report detailed his progress in weapon development for the counterattack against hell.
He had used the sacred stones and other holy items from Norway's sacred sites, integrating their divine energy into Norway's heavy weapons.
He even developed new types of weapons, creating a machine gun-like structure that fired divine energy-infused explosive rounds at a thousand rounds per second.
York, sitting on the plane, smiled at Hilly's innovation.
Hilly had likely prepared for this, previously delaying development out of laziness. Now, he was ready.
"Good," York praised, handing the report back to Erin, smiling, "Tell Hilly to keep it up. Whatever resources he needs, I will provide as long as this world has it."
Erin nodded, accepting the report and looking at her slightly different bishop. She couldn't pinpoint what was off, so she asked, "Bishop, are you alright?"
York, taken aback by her question, laughed and shook his head, "I'm fine. Go ahead and continue your work."
Erin bowed and left, still curious.
York watched her retreating figure, then snapped his fingers again.
The world paused.
He stood up, facing the window.
The fuselage disassembled into fragments, creating a large opening.
"This is material decomposition."
York smiled, stepping out through the opening and walking on air outside the plane.
Behind him, the fuselage reassembled instantly.
The flying plane, the clouds, and the land below were all frozen.
"This is controlling time. To me, everything in this world is paused."
York felt his transformation, looking into the distance and squinting.
He saw everything in the world but noticed someone moving.
"That old man!" York laughed, disappearing instantly.
A moment later, he appeared in the Vatican, facing the smiling old man who seemed to have been waiting for him for a long time.
