Chapter 284 - Hestia, let's do it!
After teleporting out of the dungeon, Mahiro and Lili, as usual, exchanged magic stones and drop items and prepared to part ways at Babel's entrance.
"It's been almost three months since the last one, hasn't it?"
"Seems like it."
"Speaking of which, the next Denatus is happening soon."
"I wonder how many adventurers had ranked up this time,"Among the passersby, excited chatter about the Denatus filled the air.
The Denatus was a gathering organized by the gods to alleviate their boredom.
Initially, it was just a few gods meeting to gossip about their Familia.
Over time, as more gods descended, the gatherings grew in scale.
With the passage of time, the Denatus evolved.
What began as casual conversation became a forum for sharing news and exchanging opinions.
Eventually, the Guild took an interest, transforming the Denatus from a leisurely pastime into an event with significant influence over the labyrinth city.
"This time, Mahiro-sama will surely be the talk of Denatus," Lili said with a smile, glancing at a group of pedestrians discussing the event.
As his supporter, Lili knew Mahiro better than most.
His achievements in dungeon were impressive enough, but ranking up from Level 1 to Level 2 in just three days was bound to cause a stir among the gods.
Those who thrived on novelty would undoubtedly take notice of him.
Other adventurers, Lili thought, couldn't hold a candle to even a fraction of Mahiro's accomplishments.
"It'll probably be lively," Mahiro said with a noncommittal smile.
When Mahiro had informed Eina about his rank-up, she mentioned that it would be announced publicly.
The Denatus was the perfect stage for such news.
"I wonder what will be the alias for Mahiro-sama," Lili said, her curiosity piqued.
Assigning aliases to adventurers who reached Level 2 was a key part of Denatus, and often its most thrilling segment.
Ais's alias, "Sword Princess," had been decided at one such gathering.
Mahiro didn't claim to be indifferent to his alias.
An adventurer's alias was practically a second name.
If the gods saddled him with something embarrassing—like a name that'd make jaws drop for the wrong reasons—Mahiro would have a few choice words for them, probably with Boosted Gear.
After parting with Lili, Mahiro headed home.
Opening the door, he found Hestia lounging in the courtyard, dressed in loose clothes and engrossed in a book.
The heavy tome rested on her lap, her hair cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall.
Her delicate face, faintly flushed, glowed under the warm afternoon sun.
The light bathed her pale skin, giving it the sheen of polished porcelain, and lent the serene scene an air of sacred beauty.
Hestia was so absorbed in her reading that she didn't notice Mahiro enter until he drew closer.
"Mahiro, you're back early today," she said, looking up in surprise.
"Missed you a bit," Mahiro replied with a smile.
He walked over, scooped Hestia into his arms, and sat with her.
"I didn't expect to find you so serious, Hestia."
"You've got the aura of a proper goddess now."
"What do you mean 'the aura of a proper goddess'?" Hestia huffed, though she nestled comfortably against him, clearly enjoying the closeness.
Mahiro's words pleased her, but she pouted at the teasing.
"I am a real goddess—one of the three virgin goddess, no less."
"Virgin goddess?" Mahiro said with a playful smirk.
"Won't be anymore."
"Don't say that!" Hestia's face turned crimson.
She shot him a shy glare, her hand gently swatting his chest as a warning.
Even for a goddess who had lived eons, love and intimacy were new territory.
While Hestia could boldly express her affection, suggestive remarks still flustered her—a trait Mahiro found endlessly charming.
Seeing her adorable reaction, he couldn't resist.
Cupping her cheek, he kissed her tenderly.
"No, it's still daytime," Hestia protested softly, her voice barely above a whisper as her goddess's restraint kicked in.
"Alright," Mahiro said, slowing his hands with a grin.
"How about updating my status instead?"
Hestia nodded, her blush lingering. With her consent, Mahiro carried her inside.
As usual, Hestia began updating his status.
