[3rd POV]
So far the tour had gone swimmingly, with Gwen showing them the shopping district that would be selling items created by whatever mutants decided to work in the area. She would even help them get their supplies needed in order to produce the various goods.
The parents had many questions regarding the city, all of which were answered by Gwen the second they were asked. They were all questions she had expected of them, such as the funding behind projects, the safety of the city, what the amenadies were for the normal humans that might move there, and pretty much anything and everything in between.
Gwen had noticed that a few of the less...fortunate parents had been quite excited at the prospect of a new home, with sustainable jobs and living. It would give them a new chance at life, one that they simply could not get on Earth, not with the way the less fortunate were treated.
Whereas on Malzif, such a thing would not exist, as Gwen was to make sure that everyone had a job (everyone that could reasonably have one at least), and everyone enjoyed their life there. She didn't want it to become another shithole like New York or LA.
She had shown them the forms of transportation that could help them get around the city quickly, in the form of automated teleportation platforms that had maps that gave you the exact location of where that teleport would go. These platforms would be free to use in the beginning, but would eventually come at a small cost of around 5 Mals, the currency of Malzif, a currency that she had shown them.
She did this mostly because she didn't want them to take things for granted, as teleportation was one of those things that did take a lot to produce, and was best to be paid for. That currency would then get used to improve upon the rest of the city, paying workers and such.
She had also shown off the local plants that she had begun to grow around the city, plants taken from Earth, other planets, and even ancient extinct animals that she had brought back to life. Each and every plant she had grown was able to defend the city through an underground root network connecting them all.
With each new commodity and addition to the city that she had shown to the group of people, the more interested they had become. Especially once she informed them that they did not need to pay for water or electricity, as that was something that would be accessible to everyone in the city, same with the internet. They were completely and utterly free for her to produce, and it felt wrong to try and take advantage of that fact in order to make "Money" off of them.
At the moment she was giving the tour of the school campus, as it was arguably the most important place to show them all, considering their kids would be going here in the future, should they all agree.
"This is the Xavier School for Mutantkind. Created to be able to teach and house every mutant child on the planet, so that they can all learn what is needed in order to control and understand their own powers, while also learning what is needed in order to pursue whatever it is that they are interested in. The androids I have created are specially made in order to be the best possible teachers, until I find more teachers that can take their places" Gwen explained, showing one of the rooms, the androids acting as if they were teaching students, to give them an idea of what it would look like.
"All classes will be completely and utterly free, as will the school lunches. Education is important to the lives of everyone, not just children, and I will not be one of those schools on Earth that charge ridiculous amounts of money just to educate a child that is owed a proper education. There is also the adult wing for adults that need to learn how to control their powers, or perhaps simply need an education due to whatever unfortunate circumstance they were put through" Gwen explained, as they all looked to another large building that was for the adults.
It was separate mainly because she didn't want any funny business to happen between any adult teens and some of the older adults, she'd rather not have to deal with a shit show like that. Or at least, she would rather not have to make Xavier deal with it. As it would not be fun for either party, that's for sure.
"What sort of classes will you offer? And is it only for mutants?" One of the younger parents asked, one that was interested in the prospect of enrolling at the school.
"Just about any class you can think of, including ones you have never heard of. All of them are open to both mutants and humans, except for ones that involve mutant powers of course. They are a bit too dangerous for humans to attend, but I plan on making a class that will teach the understanding of oneself, a sort of therapeutic class of sorts, but that'll be coming in the future once we get more students" Gwen responded with a smile, as the parents began to get more and more interested.
"And what if we wish to work at this school?"
"Then you will be interviewed and if you are of an appropriate amount of skill, we will hire you. Of course, you will need to undergo specialized training, but the pay here is far higher than on Earth, so it'll be fine"
"What is the base pay?"
"15 Mals an hour. 1 Mals is going to be equivalent to 2 USD, by the way. That will go up yearly up to a certain maximum, of course this changes depending on the class being taught, the age, etcetera" Gwen responded, as their eyes shot wide at the amount. What was basically 30 dollars an hour as the starter pay for a teacher job was...a lot, far more than most teachers out there. But it was also a deserving amount for what they did.
"Are-are all jobs like that? And how does the conversion work?" A woman asked, she was one of the more...struggling mothers, a single mother that desperately was in need of money.
"Hmm? Oh yes, we pay what is properly owed for the job, ma'am. Money is no issue to me and I only even have them because it's good for the city, and its people. And the conversion is the same as it is on Earth, simple and easy. All legal and such of course" Gwen replied with a small smile, as she felt the excitement from more and more of the parents, as they began to realize this was a real chance.
At the same time, the kids were elsewhere, being shown the fun activities at the campus.
"Jean look! They have a tennis court, pool, basketball court, and even a bowling alley! This place is awesome!" Jubilee exclaimed, looking around the school in pure awe at its size and activities. The school had many rooms built in for clubs, and even fun activities that can be done should the children wish to go for lunch, have a free period, or something similar. This included game rooms with every game ever made (that are appropriate), and similar rooms.
"Told you you guys would love it here. This place...It's home, a real proper home for Mutants. I just hope all the parents agree" Jean responded, as Jubilee nodded, agreeing. With everything they were being shown, it was slowly becoming obvious that Gwen had thought of literally everything, and had made sure to make the city a haven for mutantkind.
While Jubilee began to excitedly talk about more of the rooms, Jean had one thought on her mind.
'...Let's hope the rest of the tour goes this well'
