"Esdeath drank all the blood from the ice imperial weapon—what a waste," Daniel Davis sighed after merging with the power of the ice imperial weapon.
If there had been more of the blood left, he could have confidently created an artificial Zoan-type Devil Fruit that granted ice powers. The imperial weapons of the empire were crafted from dangerous beast materials, combined with rare metals like Orichalcum and other rare components. The dangerous beast's essence was the most crucial part.
To Daniel, these materials could also be used to create artificial Zoan-type Devil Fruits. While the beasts in One Piece were generally more powerful, the dangerous beasts from Akame ga Kill had unique abilities that could rival some mythical Zoan fruits. For example, Leone's Beast King Transformation could potentially create a fruit with healing abilities comparable to a Mythical Zoan.
With the necromancy secrets from the Protora ruins and the genetic factor knowledge Daniel now had, his ability to craft artificial Zoan Devil Fruits had advanced significantly.
Now, Daniel felt he could follow in Kaido's footsteps and build an army of Zoan fruit users, but his fruits would be even more refined. Caesar's artificial fruits were unreliable, with random transformations even when using the same animal gene, often leading to inconsistent results, particularly in appearance.
However, Daniel's artificial fruits had no such flaws. They would work just like natural Zoan fruits, without any drawbacks.
"Oh well, it's fine. Perhaps I'll come across another dangerous beast with ice abilities later," Daniel shrugged off the missed opportunity and refocused on developing his new artificial Zoan fruits, using imperial weapons like Beast King Transformation and Gaia Foundation as base materials. He had thought long and hard before deciding to dismantle the weapons.
While imperial weapons were less versatile in boosting someone's power compared to a Devil Fruit, they had the advantage of being transferable—when an imperial weapon user died, the weapon could be passed on to someone else. However, Devil Fruits were one-time use only; once the user died, the power was lost forever, unless it was a true Devil Fruit that could respawn within the One Piece world.
But Daniel hadn't yet tested if Devil Fruits could respawn in other worlds, only in the mirror space connected to the One Piece universe. He had experimented with Devil Fruit powers extensively but hadn't yet checked this.
He planned to eventually test whether Zoan fruits could respawn in a different world's mirror space, using his teleportation abilities.
Ultimately, Daniel decided to dismantle the imperial weapons to make artificial Zoan fruits. He didn't need a transferable imperial weapon. Creating a Beast King Transformation fruit from Leone's weapon would undoubtedly create a powerful fighter, especially in the One Piece world.
Similarly, Gaia Foundation had immense potential—under the right circumstances, it could produce a fighter on par with admirals or even emperors. But in the Akame ga Kill world, even if you gave them the strongest Logia fruit, most people wouldn't be able to harness its true power.
Esdeath's ice powers, for instance, couldn't be wielded by just anyone. Few could survive the blood infusion required to merge with the ice imperial weapon.
In terms of physical strength, the One Piece world far surpassed any Daniel had encountered. Even regular civilians had remarkable resilience. For example, celestial dragons could survive punches from Luffy with only mild injuries—whereas in other worlds, a punch like that would probably have blown their heads off.
Sanji once fought in Nami's body after their minds were swapped by Law's powers, and he could still use his powerful kicks without significant consequences—just some soreness afterward. In most other worlds, such a kick would have shattered the user's leg.
Thus, while Daniel had obtained Leone's and Chelsea's imperial weapons, he had no intention of giving them Devil Fruits. It would be a waste.
Of course, Daniel would provide them with other compensations. He had virus-based body enhancement serums at his disposal, which would be more than enough in the Akame ga Kill world.
In the Marvel world, distributing such enhancements would cause too much trouble if information leaked. Even though Daniel wasn't afraid of potential threats, constantly dealing with people trying to steal his secrets would be annoying. So, he hadn't even given the serums to someone like Coulson. But here, he could act as freely as he wanted.
"Now that it's finished, who should I give it to?" Daniel mused after quickly crafting two Mythical Zoan-grade artificial fruits in his portable lab. The question of who to give them to now weighed on his mind, as he currently had no suitable candidates.
"Should I give this Lion King fruit to Esdeath?" he considered. Esdeath's ice powers, combined with the regenerative and enhancing abilities of the Lion King fruit, would make a formidable combination. Still, Daniel believed that an ice-based Devil Fruit would suit her better in the long run.
Though the One Piece world's strongest ice-related fruit, the Logia-type Ice-Ice Fruit, was already in the hands of Admiral Aokiji, there were still other ice-related fruits, particularly among the Paramecia types.
"I'll talk to Esdeath when we get back. If she's not interested, I'll save it for later." With his decision made, Daniel turned his thoughts to Akame. It wasn't that he had any particular interest in her, but based on her potential, she could be as powerful as Esdeath. Bringing her into the One Piece world would make her a valuable ally.
"I guess I owe Netero an apology," Daniel thought, recalling that while he had been indecisive about giving Netero more power, he had no such qualms with Esdeath or Akame. He could only offer a silent apology to the old man.
"When I get back to the capital, I should take Brand's imperial weapon, Incursio. I could turn it into an extremely powerful Devil Fruit," Daniel mused. Incursio was made from the super-dangerous dragon-like species Tyrant, which still retained its consciousness. Overusing the weapon could awaken Tyrant's will.
In the original story, Tatsumi eventually became one with Tyrant, and if Akame hadn't used her Murasame to kill Tyrant's consciousness, Tatsumi's mind would have been consumed by the beast.
Tyrant was a dangerous beast with incredible evolutionary abilities. It could adapt to resist even Esdeath's Mahapadma, the time-freezing technique of her ice imperial weapon. In its dormant state as Incursio, Tyrant wasn't that powerful. But if Daniel turned it into a Devil Fruit and gave it to a strong individual, they could potentially rival Kaido's dragon form.
Devil Fruit abilities scaled with the user's strength. A weak person with a powerful fruit wouldn't be able to tap its full potential. For example, Daniel could easily handle Tatsumi in his Incursio form, but if someone like Shanks consumed the same fruit, it would be a different story entirely.
The thought of an invisibility ability made Daniel chuckle. If Sanji knew about this fruit, he'd be all over it. Invisibility was his dream power, regardless of whether it came from a Paramecia or Zoan fruit.
"Amazing. Devil Fruits sound incredible. I'd love to see that world as soon as possible," Esdeath said, her eyes sparkling after Daniel told her about the One Piece world during their reunion in the capital. Up to that point, Daniel hadn't shared many details with her about that world.
"When things here settle down, we'll leave. Then, you can experience it firsthand. Speaking of Devil Fruits, I have two right here. Want to try one?" Daniel said, pulling out the two artificial fruits he had made.
"This one looks interesting. But what would you choose?" Esdeath asked, after briefly glancing at the fruit made from Gaia Foundation. She then picked up the Lion King fruit, which intrigued her more. For Esdeath, power was everything, and Gaia Foundation, though remarkable, didn't seem useful for increasing strength.
"If it were up to me, I think an ice-type Devil Fruit would suit you best. You already have an ice-based imperial weapon, so combining the two could lead to some incredible results," Daniel suggested. Ice had the potential to reach absolute zero, though Esdeath might not achieve that level of power—it was still something to strive for.
"It's your choice. If you want immediate power, this fruit is your best bet. Its regenerative abilities would greatly enhance your survival. But for long-term growth, an ice-type fruit would be more suitable." Daniel explained, sharing his thoughts on combining her current abilities with Devil Fruit powers. He also mentioned that he had other ways to grant regenerative abilities, like the G-Virus or other bio-enhancement serums.
"Well, if you put it that way, I'll pass on this one for now. When we get to that world, I'll aim for the strongest ice-related fruit. What's the best one?" Esdeath asked, placing the Lion King fruit back down.
"The strongest ice fruit is the Logia-type Ice-Ice Fruit, currently wielded by Admiral Aokiji."
"So, if I kill this admiral, I could get the fruit, right?" Esdeath's eyes lit up with excitement at the thought.
"Uh..." Daniel hesitated, taken aback by Esdeath's reaction.
"Is there a problem with that?" Esdeath immediately picked up on his unease.
"He's an admiral. Like I said before, they are the strongest forces in that world. Killing him won't be easy—he could take you out without even trying at your current level."
"I wasn't planning on fighting him right away." Esdeath wasn
't reckless. Although she had a warrior's spirit, she wasn't impulsive. She wouldn't have risen to the rank of general in the empire otherwise.
"What about you? How strong are you over there?" Esdeath asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Me? Well, my public strength isn't quite at the top. I'm still below the admirals and emperors. But if I go all out, I think I could take down an admiral." Daniel replied, after considering his abilities.
If he used all his tricks, including his teleportation abilities, he could take down anyone below the level of someone like Odin, but that was only by using every advantage.
"I see. Understood," Esdeath said, standing up and heading for the door. While she wasn't involved in most government matters, she still took the time to ensure her Northern Army was in good hands. Before leaving, she assigned Liwa, one of her trusted lieutenants, as the army's new leader.
After parting ways with Esdeath, Daniel went to find Najenda. Noticing her prosthetics, he remembered that he hadn't yet healed her. He asked her to remove the artificial limbs, and then summoned a golden-haired angel using his Nen ability, Angel's Breath. The angel exhaled a healing breath, restoring Najenda's left eye and arm, which had been destroyed by Esdeath.
While the Philosopher's Stone could have been used to heal her, it would have been wasteful. Angel's Breath was perfect for injuries, though it couldn't cure diseases or reverse the effects of severe life force depletion, like Kurome's condition.
"What the...?" Najenda was stunned as her eye and arm were fully restored. Brand and Lubbock were overjoyed, and even Susanoo seemed pleased.
"All right, I know you're busy, so hand over Incursio," Daniel said, taking the imperial weapon from her. With that, he left her to continue her duties.
"Good thing Brand prefers men. Otherwise, Lubbock wouldn't stand a chance," Daniel chuckled as he glanced at the trio of men following Najenda.
"It's a shame not all imperial weapons can be turned into Devil Fruits," Daniel thought. Many weapons, especially those based on tools or weapons like Murasame, Pumpkin, or Yatsufusa, couldn't be used for fruit creation.
He had considered using Will's Grand Chariot, but it paled in comparison to Incursio. There was no point in wasting a lesser weapon when he could potentially mass-produce copies of Grand Chariot for the empire's army, boosting their power significantly. It could even serve as compensation for Brand, who had lost his weapon.
