Hypnos.
Thanatos.
The twin gods unleashed their boundless divine power. Standing atop the mountain, they gazed down as their overwhelming power instantly transformed into a colossal flood. In a flash, the endless torrent surged out from them, spreading across the entire mortal world as though it were engulfing everything.
This was the apocalyptic flood.
At first glance, it appeared as nothing more than simple water, but the more ordinary it seemed, the more terrifying it became. This flood represented raw, unmatched power. No god, no human, could stop it through sheer force alone. It was virtually impossible.
The infinite power of this flood embodied the might of the mythical great world itself. Any being that tried to stand against it would find their efforts utterly meaningless.
"…"
Hypnos and Thanatos both let out a long breath in the silence.
Clearly.
This was the limit of what the twin gods could do. There was no joking around. If they wanted to accomplish more, it was simply beyond their capabilities. They were merely channeling the energy of the mythical world, not controlling it themselves.
As for manipulating this force? Forget it! That was not even remotely feasible. In both the Apocalypse and the creation of new worlds, the gods were merely conduits for the release of pre-prepared power. They had no authority to truly control it.
This was the fundamental truth, an unchangeable reality.
Now, with the passage of time and the release of this divine power, the rest had little to do with them.
"That's it," Thanatos said quietly. "From here, we just need to wait. Everything will happen as it should, and all we have to do is wait."
Hypnos nodded. "All the preparations are complete. There's nothing more we can plan for or prepare. We just have to wait."
Hypnos and Thanatos both knew they had done everything they could. They had carried out their tasks to the fullest extent. As for anything beyond this?
That wasn't within their power or authority. Now, they just needed to quietly wait for everything to unfold. The rest wasn't their responsibility.
The twin gods understood this perfectly.
"The far north…" Hypnos said with a trace of concern, gazing toward the distant northern regions. The first place the flood would cover was almost certainly the far north. After all, very few humans from the golden age still survived in the mortal world.
Among the survivors, many lived in Sparta, located in the far northern regions. The Spartan kingdom was home to numerous humans of the golden age.
Could they survive?
It was hard to say!
It was a tremendous risk. This danger couldn't be mitigated with external help. The Spartans would have to tread carefully, step by step. No outside force could offer them aid.
"Hypnos," Thanatos softly urged, "everything that could be done has been done. If they still fail, if they still can't survive, then there's truly nothing more we can do."
Hypnos nodded, knowing Thanatos was right. All the necessary preparations had been made. Even if they failed now...
Well...
There would be nothing they could do about it. That was the truth. The Underworld had laid out so many plans, and yet if Sparta still perished, then... What could they do? They had no choice but to accept it. Everything that needed to be done had been done.
If they still met their end, there was nothing more Hypnos and Thanatos could offer. They had done all they could. Even if you asked them to do more at this point, it would be impossible.
...
In the void.
"The Apocalypse has begun."
Zeus gazed down from above at the apocalyptic flood that was sweeping across the mortal world. His expression was thoughtful as he slowly spoke. The Apocalypse had started, and from this point on, nothing could stop it.
But the issue was, this was just the beginning of the Apocalypse. Afterward would come the creation of a new world! And the creation of that world was not in Hades' hands, nor in the hands of the Underworld. As long as the gods won the next holy war, then...
Zeus was filled with many ideas. In a sense, the benefits of world creation far surpassed those of destruction. With that in mind, wasn't it possible that...
Just thinking about it was enough to reveal how tremendous the rewards of this event could be. Some things! When you reflect on them a little more, you realize how much more there is to consider. There was much to think about and much to plan.
"…"
Unlike Zeus, Poseidon remained much more composed, calmly contemplating something. He believed these were minor details. What was more critical was how they would be dealt with.
The follow-up and the layout of the future were more important. He already had plans of his own, and with narrowed eyes, Poseidon began calculating the gains and benefits that could come.
However, as time passed.
Poseidon and Zeus both started to sense something was wrong.
It seemed like!
Perhaps!
Maybe!
Something wasn't right?
What exactly was the Underworld up to? What had they done? What was this strange power? Wasn't the situation becoming increasingly absurd? Wasn't the problem becoming more and more pronounced?
Poseidon and Zeus both turned to look at Hades. Throughout the entire process, Hades had remained utterly calm, as though he had no emotions at all. From beginning to end, he silently observed everything, showing no trace of emotional fluctuation.
But the more he acted like this, the stranger it seemed!
This time, the instincts of the two god-kings were strongly warning them that something was definitely, increasingly wrong.
