Chapter 179 Let It All Out
Inside the room, Daniel cried as he held onto Rebel's hand tightly. After he let it all out, he wiped his tears and began recounting everything he had experienced since they had fallen ill. He found comfort in knowing he had someone to talk to, someone who felt like a parental figure. He shared his struggles of begging for food, doing odd jobs for money, and caring for all the children living in the camp. As Rebel listened, she felt a wave of guilt and regret for not being able to help him, seeing the burden he carried all alone. All she could do was try to comfort him.
As Rebel listened to Daniel, she remembered those times in bed, unable to do anything but still conscious. She couldn't shake the guilt of being unable to help and felt like a burden. She understood that the others still suffering in their beds shared her feelings. She made a vow to herself: 'Now that I'm cured and getting stronger, I will help him and everyone.'
After a while, Daniel emerged from the room and noticed a group of children gathered near the door. He felt displeased, especially since he had explicitly instructed them not to go near it. However, he decided against scolding them too harshly, understanding that they were just children, naturally curious about what had been happening inside.
After lightly scolding the children, Daniel was surprised when one of them, Riley, asked, "Did something good happen? Why are there tears on your face?" This question reflected the curiosity of the whole group.
Daniel looked around at the gathered kids, who were shaking in agreement. After wiping the tears from his face, he replied, "Yes, Riley, something good did happen. Our older sister has awakened from her pain, but she still needs to rest to regain her strength. Let's all pray for her to recover, okay?"
After hearing Daniel's explanation, the children in the group understood and prayed for their sister's wellness. Afterward, their solemn expressions changed into excited grins. Amidst the murmurs, Daniel could hear comments such as, "Does that mean the rest of them are going to get better?" "I can't wait to meet sis when she's better!" and "Do you think everything is going to be alright now?"
As the children's excitement grew, they began to disperse, joyfully sharing the good news with others. Daniel wondered where Aleshia was, and while walking to another part of the room, he noticed that she was sleeping in the dark. He guessed she must have dozed off due to the dark. Instead of waking her, he let her sleep, silently whispering his thanks for saving his sister.
