The old man walked out of the teleportation center and looked around. At the nearby platform, a green-skinned train was pulling into the station.
He remembered those days when he, as a new recruit, took a similar train to the front of Yumen Pass. Initially, the old man didn't understand why all this was happening. There were obviously faster trains, so why switch to this slow green-skinned train so far away from Yumen Pass?
Later, he understood. The train ran slowly to let the new recruits see the endless gravestones on the hills, to see the places where they might end up staying in the future.
The damn old bastard, the old general who came up with this idea was already resting on the sunny hillside. The old man thought he must have done it on purpose.
Thinking of this, he watched the new recruits file out of the carriages. They were either curious or solemn, and the military police moving through the steam were working with company commanders to do roll call.
"Marshal."
