Standing alone in a dark hall, Kael remained relaxed. One minute he was walking behind Jacquelyn, and the next, he was in this place. He'd thought he was going to die with the way the corruption was spreading throughout his body, yet he felt more alive than he ever did.
"It's him..."
"He overthrew Doom."
Kael turned to his side when he heard the hushed whispering, but there was nobody there. Or so his eyes told him.
"It's really him... the—"
Kael was about to take a step when a blinding light shone across the hall, illuminating the whole room and bringing back silence.
"Light is here..." A voice said from across the hall. "To dispel everything that darkness stole."
Kael twitched his lips; he didn't care one bit who it was. All he needed was an explanation of what he was doing in a place like this.
"Can we skip the theatrics and tell me where I am and how to leave?"
