The next morning came quietly, but the weight in Kimberly's chest had not lifted.
As she slowly opened her eyes, she reached beside her only to feel emptiness. Theo's side of the bed was cold.
*He's already in the study again… he hasn't rested in days.*
She sat up, brushing her hair behind her ear.
*I won't disturb him. But I need to be useful. I need to do something. I can't just sit here while our enemies plot.*
She got up, walked into the bathroom, and took her bath. Her mind didn't rest for a second as the water flowed over her.
Even after drying her body, her thoughts stayed loud.
*They're making moves. I can feel it. Something is happening behind the scenes. I won't wait until it's too late.*
She picked out a long, emerald gown and applied a bit of makeup, just enough to brighten her face.
*I can't let them see the storm in me. Not yet. I'll smile if I must. But today… today I act.*
