POV Rio
I was going through my stats when I saw that I had an unclaimed quest reward.
[Quest Completed Echoes Of The Past]
[Issuing Rewards...
1 Umbra Glacies
1 Book Of Spirits
1 Vera Tranquillitas Perk ]
{Name: Umbra Glacies
Umbra Glacies Is A Blade Made Of A Crystalline Material. Umbra Glacies Is Indestructible And Cannot Be Damaged. It Will Never Dull. The Sword Bypasses All Defenses And Causes Damage Directly To The Soul. The User Can Decide If The Damage They Do Is Lethal Or Non-Lethal. Non-Lethal Damage Will Reduce The Power Of The Target, And They Will Fall Unconscious. Lethal Damage Will Result In The Destruction Of The Target's Soul, And The Soul's Energy Will Dissipate. This Can Cause The Soul Not To Reincarnate If The User Decides To Do So. If A Target Has No Soul, They Will Be Instantly Killed. This Effect Cannot Be Resisted. The Sword Increases In Power And Damage With The User. Umbra Glacies Can Move At The User's Will And Fly Independently Of The User. The Sword Can Multiply Itself However, All Copies Will Have Only Half The Power. This Effect Applies When The User Uses Cloning Techniques. This Sword Can Absorb Energy Attacks As Long As The Attack Is Not Stronger Than The User. If The Attack Is Stronger, Then The Sword Will Absorb As Much As It Can. The Energy Can later Be Ejected In A Sword Beam Or Applied To An Attack. Owning This Weapon Makes The User Immune To Disarming Effects. Umbra Glacies Can Be Summoned Instantly From Anywhere In Existence. Only Rio Magus Crepusculum, The Summoner Of This Weapon, Can Wield This Weapon. This Weapon Can Be Treated As A Spell Focus. }
{Name: Book Of Spirits
The Book Of Spirits Allows The User To Summon A Copy Of The Spirit Of Any Being That Ever Existed/Lived In Any Universe The User Has Been To. These Spirits Will Be Summoned For 1 Hour And Will Answer Any Questions Honestly. A Spirit That Is Summoned Cannot Be Resummoned For 100 Hours. Summoned Spirits Cannot Be Used As Spell Components And Cannot Be Resurrected. Summoned Spirits Cannot Linger Or Influence The Real World. Summoning A Spirit Carries No Inherent Risk, But Knowledge Gained Could Cause Damage To The User Or Others. Spirits That Can Be Summoned Can Only Be Beings That Are Dead. The Possible Spirits The User Can Summon Will Update As Time Passes, Even If The User Has Not Been To Said Universe In A Long Time. This Book Can Only Be Read By The User Or Those Given Direct Permission. This Book Cannot Be Damaged Or Destroyed. If This Book Is Stolen, It Can Be Summoned With A Thought. }
{Name: Vera Tranquillitas Perk
The User Has Found Tranquility And Come To Terms With Their Past. This Perk Gives The User An Unbreakable Will. You Become Immune To Psychic/Mind Attacks, Energy, And Manipulation. Your Powers Cannot Be Copied, Absorbed, Negated, Or Interfered With In Any Way. This Includes Magic Spells. Your Soul Becomes Invisible To All Beings. Beings That Prefer To Corrupt Or Manipulate Others Will Have A Strong Aversion To Directly Acting Against The User Or Those That Follow Them. }
'Holy cow in a pope outfit, Batman! That is a broken sword. If it works like I think it does, I could feasibly use this to instant kill a god's avatar. And many monsters and demons have no soul, so that I would become a bane to them. I am not fully sure if this would work on Darkseid, as he is technically an avatar, but he is also sort of an independent being. The Book of Spirits is interesting, as I can imagine the massive amount of knowledge that was lost over the many eras. Not to mention the information I can get from all of those Universes. The only downsides I can see are that the spirits are only of those who are dead, and that they could teach dangerous knowledge. The time limit is also a bit weak, but oh well. Lastly, the perk. It is overall excellent. It gives a lot of passive benefits and even improves the Imperium.'
Once I was done looking at the rewards, I moved on to doing what I had planned to do today. Avarice had gathered a massive amount of XP, and I was going to use Generosity to absorb it all.

'Well, that was a bit more than I was expecting. But still not too out there. As for my stats, I got around 900 Intelligence from all the beings I used Drain Knowledge on. And a gain of around 70 across all the other stats. Except Perception, which is somewhat expected. The skill gains are good, but Bending has reached a bit of a bottleneck. I might have to buy a summon as I want it maxed out sooner rather than later. Now, where should the stat points go?'
After some consideration, I decided to put 410 into Perception, 480 into Agility, and the remaining 195 into Strength.

The change was noticeable. I could sense much farther away, and when I focused, I could see into the future by nearly half a minute. I could also feel that I was a fair amount physically stronger, but since I wasn't much of a melee fighter, it was not as important. The boost to my agility was a bit harder to notice, but it was still there.
'My stats are very good for now, but I think I need to focus on getting all my base stats to at least 1000. Except for Luck and Intelligence. Luck because it isn't needed as much, and Intelligence because it is already there. Thankfully, there are still many wars that will earn me lots of XP. And I can use more of my free time for training as the Imperium is much more stable and it's running smoothly. I think all future stat points will go into Perception and then Agility. Then probably Endurance or maybe Charisma. Strength is just not as needed. I am more of a ranged attacker than melee, and other than Nightmare Moon, no one else would have a higher Strength stat.'
Though you could say that others might have higher stats in other categories, I figured that my Strength stat can continue to increase via training. Once I was done looking over the stats, I decided to open the Mystery Boxes that I had, as there were 3 of them.
'Okay, now time to see what I get this time.'
I activate Lucky Star and open the first box. Nothing is in it, and I wait for anything to happen. But after waiting for a few minutes, nothing happened.
'Huh, I guess I will figure out what it did later.'
I open another box, and this time I notice something because the TV in my room turned on.
(AN: Play On The Wings of a Battman - Cyanide & Happiness Shorts for the whole clip. )
John Battman: "Every single day, all the time, local crime boys do a big illegal crime."
Rio: "No, this is what was summoned?"
I just sit down and watch the commercial. I also did some research and found that John Battman was given a premade background as Broots Waymb now exists and is fairly rich. Especially if what the commercial said is true.
John Battman: "For as little as 10% of your taxes, you could box up a bad boy. Don't believe me? Ask another fancy suit man, but just a regular suit, not a batt suit, Broots Waymb."
Broots Waymb: "I don't pay taxes, I'm rich."
John Battman: "Sounds smart, Broots."
I fell on the floor laughing at his extremely blunt answer. But then I stop and make sure that the tax code isn't broken, like many nations. Luckily, it wasn't. It turns out that when wealth isn't all that important, you get far fewer people who get super rich, and those who are paying a proportional tax, and it can't be reduced. As I finish, the commercial ends, and I have no intention of getting involved.
'I know he isn't a bad guy. If anything, he might get himself hurt, as he is far from the skills of DC Batman. I will just let him do what he wants. Now let's open the last box.'
I open the last box, and like the first one, nothing happens, and I just wait for a few minutes. But after a while of waiting, I moved on with the rest of my day.

POV Rio
I felt like I started to hear Mozart's Lacrimosa, but it went away fairly quickly. I just shrugged it off and ignored it.
'It must have been the wind.'

Authors Note:
The first status update in quite a few chapters, but I thought it worked best here. I also forgot to add the rewards from the Echoes Of The Past quest when Rio completed the Star Wars Trial, but I added it here. If anyone has recommendations for what stats you think should be increased, let me know. The next chapter will go further into detail as to what was summoned. As well as some people's responses. Until next time, Ciao.
