Chapter 14 - Challenges & Dangers

"What kind of beast is that?" — The oppressive silence was shattered by Gachuti's voice.

"Mother Spider..." — He furrowed his brow, and the words came out in a serious tone.

"What's the Boss doing on higher floors?" — He reloaded his rifle as he asked.

The line of reasoning that was being built was broken by a muffled laugh, and the three felt as if they were flies caught in a web. Finally, from the depths of that darkness, the full sight of the Mother Spider before them was revealed.

Her anatomy was bizarre, with her torso and upper part similar to that of a pale woman with a gray mullet hairstyle and six red eyes, three on each side. However, her lower part was that of a spider, with a type of head equipped with a large mouth, two enormous red eyes, and four legs.

"Invaders... You are in my home."

A shiver ran down Gachuti's spine as he saw the wide smile on her face, and something bothered him, perhaps the grotesque voice that was more like a chalkboard being scratched, or his companions who didn't seem to care about the words.

"Ashia, give me support, and Gachuti, get ready." — Trying to control the situation, he stepped forward as the leader he was.

"I'm right behind you, Ghost." — The blade gleamed as it was wielded.

"The mission was just to exterminate the excess monsters, and now we're facing the Boss..." — With a heavy breath, he positioned himself and fired at the enemy.

He guided the others as he shot; for someone who worked in the thief class, he possessed incredible speed. Without waiting for the enemy's attack, he returned the movement with several webs that joined together to form massive spheres; even so, his webs were cut by the daggers, and in an unexpected move, Ghost jumped. However, reality was heard and seen with swift shots going towards the Boss's face.

"Damn invaders!" — Despite this, the bullets were repelled by thin webs coming from her fingers.

Once again, those words were lost to the wind, and this was certainly bothering Gachuti. Breaking his thoughts, the Mother Spider prepared a new charge, a deafening and agonizing scream combined with enormous pressure. The scream came from the Boss's upper mouth; the pressure was so potent that none of the three could move.

"A... shia... Fi... re." — Ghost even had difficulty speaking.

In a free movement, the Boss's hands, full of webs, launched the three against a wall. With the end of the scream, the freedom of their bodies was finally possible, and even still shaken, a shot rang out; however, it wasn't a gunshot, more like trying to put their heads back in place. Ghost and Ashia saw Gachuti at high speed, with the blade of his sword enveloped in black flames.

Focus and concentration, Hakuryu taught me that; as a swordsman, I will not allow anyone to die.

"Dusk flames."

In a counterattack to Gachuti's attack, more webs were fired, trying to push him away; however, this attempt was futile. Almost all the webs were cut, but the ones that hit cut Gachuti, who was completely focused.

"Hey, duck down, I'm still in the game."

So close to the Boss, she used webs coming from her fingers; however, Gachuti slid underneath her, and a rapid pam-pam-pam echoed through the sixth floor. Despite this attack, everything was intercepted by the Mother Spider, thus defending herself, but it was a distraction for her, who at that moment found herself cornered by Ghost coming from the front and Gachuti from behind—such a critical situation.

"Aaaaaaah!"

This was the sign that the battle was only just beginning; the two were pressed against the ground by pressure that was much stronger than before, with a swift and ferocious attack. Gachuti was thrown against a wall again; blood dripped from his mouth.

Damn it, I said I wouldn't let anyone else die, and now... Of course.

"Blood... Blood... Blood!"

"What do you want, Gachuti?"

Finally, looking forward, he saw Blood crouched down, looking at him with a smile, and again in that place, from another perspective, Gachuti was leaning as if something was behind him.

"Go already."

"Do what?"

"Why are you playing around?"

"Stop being boring... But let's play."

The Boss was going towards Ghost, who was lying on the ground, with Ashia trying to wake him up, and consequently, with her back to Gachuti, who slowly stood up, making even the Boss stop after sensing his presence.

"You're smart; you've already realized it's not Gachuti anymore."

"Are you a demon?"

"What if I am?"

"Then devouring you will make me much stronger..."

Only the human part turns around, laughing, and on the other hand, Blood, who is now in control, a slight smile appears on his face for what he is about to begin.
