Chapter 17 - A New Role.

The next few days was a busy one for Citylights employees,

The Citylights Television employees were abuzz with activity as they prepared for the social justice project's release. The marketing team was busy crafting social media campaigns and press releases, while the production team put the finishing touches on editing and visual effects. Meanwhile, the communications team was coordinating with influencers and media outlets to secure coverage. The office was filled with the hum of creativity and anticipation as everyone worked together to make the project a success.

As Maddie stood up to use the printer, she felt a surge of excitement. She adjusted the files, ensuring everything was in order, and hit print. The hum of the printer filled the air as she waited for the documents to emerge. With the promotion of the social justice project just days away, every detail mattered. She double-checked the pages, her mind racing with thoughts of the project's potential impact. The partnership with Thompson's Enterprises had brought new opportunities, and she was eager to see the project's message reach a wider audience.

Maddie was about to settle into her chair, feeling a sense of relief that the preparations for the project's launch were finally complete. But before she could even take a deep breath, her phone buzzed with Rachel's summons.

"Maddie, can you come to my office for a minute?"

Rachel's voice was warm and inviting, but Maddie couldn't shake off the feeling of curiosity mixed with a hint of apprehension.

She made her way to Rachel's office, her mind racing with possibilities. What could Rachel want to discuss? Was there something wrong with the project? She pushed aside the thoughts and focused on the present moment.

As she entered Rachel's office, she was greeted by a warm smile. Rachel gestured for her to take a seat, and Maddie settled into the comfortable chair in front of the desk. Rachel leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

"How are you doing, Maddie?"

She asked, her voice filled with genuine interest.

Maddie replied with a casual ,

"Good, great,"

trying to gauge the tone of the conversation.

Rachel's smile broadened. "Great, because I'll need you to be energetic and available for the event planning at TMG starting tomorrow."

Maddie's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, me? At TMG?" she stuttered, her mind struggling to process the information. TMG was a big deal, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for such a significant responsibility.

Rachel sat up straight, her expression confident. "Yes, you. You'll be the coordinator, overseeing everything to ensure it's in order." Maddie's shock turned to speechlessness. She couldn't believe Rachel was entrusting her with such an important task.

"But why?" she began to stammer. "We have Sarah, she's our producer. She should be the one overseeing everything." Maddie's mind was filled with doubts. Was she truly qualified for this role?

Rachel shrugged, a hint of a smile still playing on her lips. "Sarah can deal with her own responsibilities. Besides, this whole project came through because of you. Well, your colleagues helped, but you did most of it. Don't refuse this opportunity; it's your time to shine, baby." Rachel's words were both encouraging and intimidating.

Maddie was about to speak, to express her concerns and doubts, but Rachel interrupted her.

"No buts, you'll do great."

The firmness in Rachel's voice left no room for argument. Maddie nodded, still feeling a bit dazed, but also determined to rise to the challenge.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, The office staff began to wrap up for the day, their tired and exhausted faces a testament to the long hours they'd put in. Maddie, too, felt the weight of the day's tasks bearing down on her as she made her way to the junction to hail a taxi. Her destination was her son Jake's school, and she couldn't wait to see him and hear about his day.

As she settled into the taxi's backseat, Maddie leaned her head against the worn leather, letting out a deep sigh. She gazed out the window, watching as the city's bustling streets whizzed by in a blur. Her mind began to wander to the project, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. She would be the event coordinator for the greatest project Citylights had ever made, and it was going to be held at the famous TMG. Life couldn't get any better.

As she lost herself in thought, Maddie closed her eyes, letting the warm breeze wafting through the taxi's window caress her face. The gentle rustle of the wind and the hum of the engine lulled her into a state of relaxation. But as she drifted, her thoughts suddenly snapped back into focus. She would need to get a nanny for Jake.

With the promotion looming and her schedule about to get even busier, Maddie knew she wouldn't be able to pick Jake up from school on time every day. The thought of leaving him alone or having to rush him to after-school activities filled her with anxiety. She would need to find a reliable and trustworthy nanny, someone who would take care of Jake's needs and make sure he was happy and safe.

Maddie opened her eyes, her mind racing with the task ahead. She would have to find someone nice, someone who would be good company for Jake and take care of him properly, just for the week. At least then, Jake wouldn't be lonely or left alone, and Maddie could focus on her project without worrying about her son's well-being. As the taxi pulled up to the school, Maddie felt a sense of determination wash over her. She would find the perfect nanny for Jake, and everything would work out just fine.
