Chapter 17 - Gentle Smile

To say that he was shocked was an understatement. He was flabbergasted at the sight. He half expected that the two would meet again, yet Mu Wei never thought it would be so soon.

Maybe because of their expressions, Lu Beiyi seemed to let out a chuckle. He seemed amused, considering how his eyes bent up a little more than usual. After fixing his crooked tie - perhaps from the wind or a habit, he walked towards them leniently.

Despite Mu Wei's glare never faltering the whole time, the man didn't seem to be affected in the slightest bit. That pissed Mu Wei off more than it should have - why does he always lose his cool around this man? He's an actor for goodness' sake!

Taking a few more steps, the man stopped only a few inches away from his face - too close for comfort. Mu Wei stepped back a few steps and coldly asked, "What are you doing here, guild master?" Anyone could tell that he wasn't exactly ecstatic of this man.

Lu Beiyi seemed confused at this and lifted an eyebrow. He stared at Mu Wei funnily; you could almost tell what he's thinking. 'Who are you to ask me what I'm doing here?', Is probably what he's saying.

Mu Wei knew he overstepped his boundaries too much asking this. He's been getting increasingly reckless around this man, and he's well aware. He closed his eyes for a second, and added, "I'm sorry guild master, that was rude of me to ask. You can go anywhere you please, it is your guild after all."

"..." The man didn't seem to listen to any of his words, he continued to stare at him - just him. Like a creep. Mu Wei silently cursed this man in his mind and stared back. Was this a staring contest? He almost wanted to ask that out loud.

He shifted his gaze slightly to Lu Yi to check on him, the teenager seemed to be puzzled at their situation. It was only after a few more seconds passed that the man finally spoke. "I accept your apology, but you of all people should know where you stand."

Lu Beiyi offered a gentle smile at the end and patted his shoulder, "Don't ask me that again or I might just kill you." Feeling a shiver in Mu Wei's back, he swallowed hard and nodded. It was time to stand down, this man meant every word. His smile was gentle, but it was eerie - it's like a nightmare in disguise.

The man hummed in response at his reaction. He seemed pleased at this. "I wouldn't want to kill an interesting admirer of mine this early." Was the last comment he spoke before walking past them and entering the training room. The large door slowly closing behind them and making a thud.

Releasing a relieved sigh, Mu Wei's shoulder relaxed from the tension. He could've sworn that he died right then and there. He can't take any more risks or else he might have to restart all over again. Thinking about this, Mu Wei stared at the closed door, lost in thought.

"Are you alright, Mu Wei?" Lu Yi snapped him out of his trance, and the teenager patted his shoulder soothingly. Mu Wei shifted his gaze from the door and replied, "Yeah, I'm okay. Shall we head inside now?"

The teenager didn't seem convinced but nevertheless, nodded reluctantly. Mu Wei was thankful for that, at times like these, he's not exactly a communicative person.

"Then let's go." Mu Wei said encouragingly. What he needs to do right now is control his temper and stay alive no matter what. He internally prayed that the guild master would be busy with some other things and leave early.
