All three of them stood in a circle, holding the sleek silver injectors in one hand, thumbs hovering just over the release triggers.
They hesitated.
Even after months of simulations, careful protein modeling, animal testing, and every possible safeguard Nova could throw at the project, there was still that primal hesitation before jabbing themselves with something that could turn them into lizards.
Peter glanced at the needle, then at the others. "You know… maybe we should wait another day. Just to double check the metabolic absorption curves—"
Nova smirked. "Peter, the only thing curving right now is your spine from that weak-ass posture. Inject the damn thing."
Ned snorted, but he too was tense. "I mean… maybe we should test it on something else. Like a watermelon. Or a squirrel."
"Or Liz's ex," Harry added dryly. "I volunteer him as tribute."
Nova chuckled, arms folded. "Wow. All this from the same guys who designed this serum in lab."
"You didn't inject it," Peter pointed out.
"I didn't need to," Nova replied smoothly. "I'm already stacked. Taking this would make me unreasonably hot, and I'm not trying to break the planet's thirst limit."
Ned raised an eyebrow. "Or maybe you're just scared of growing a tail."
Nova shrugged, too relaxed. "A tail could be fun. More balance. Or, you know—something to smack dumbasses who hesitate like you guys. Besides I can grow tails."
Peter rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, damn alien boy. Next you'll say we'll grow scales."
Nova's grin widened. "Oh, definitely. Glowing green scales. Maybe forked tongues. Ooh, or tails that wag when you lie."
Ned shuddered. "Okay, stop talking. You're making me want to throw this out a window."
Nova tilted his head innocently. "Tell you what—how about you inject each other? A little trust exercise. Bros helping bros mutate."
Peter looked at Harry. "That… might actually help."
Harry nodded. "Yeah. Fine. Let's just get it over with."
They exchanged injectors in a brief, silent motion, each trusting the other more than they did themselves in that moment. Ned got Peter's. Peter took Harry's. Harry held Ned's.
On Nova's count—"Three, two, one, go!"—they all jabbed the injectors into their arms and pressed the release buttons.
The serum hissed softly, cold and viscous as it entered their systems.
The change was immediate.
Peter's body jerked slightly, and then his breath caught. His vision suddenly cleared—sharper, more detailed than his glasses had ever allowed. He blinked in stunned silence and slowly removed them.
"Holy crap," he whispered. "I can see everything."
Ned grunted, a strange sound—somewhere between discomfort and awe. His chubby frame didn't vanish, but the softness shifted. Hardened. His limbs bulked subtly, and when he pulled up his sleeve, the fat gave way to densely packed muscle.
"Dude," Ned said, eyes wide. "I think I have biceps. Real ones. Not just burrito curves."
Peter gave him a once-over. "You're built like a tank now."
Then they turned to Harry.
Harry stood completely still, eyes unfocused, a subtle tremble running through his hands.
"Harry?" Peter asked cautiously. "You okay?"
Harry didn't respond for a long moment. Then he exhaled, like his lungs had never truly emptied before.
"It's gone," he said quietly.
Peter and Ned exchanged a look. They knew what he meant.
Harry had told them about the family disease early on—genetic degeneration in the nervous system. Something slow, invisible, and inescapable. Something that had taken his father piece by piece until he was bitter, broken, and ultimately dead.
Harry had hated him for it. For being weak. For never fighting it. For accepting it. For letting it define his last years.
And Harry had feared, more than anything, that it would do the same to him.
Now he was standing straighter. Breathing deeper. His hands, once prone to slight tremors, were steady.
"I always felt… heavy," Harry murmured. "Like something was crushing my spine from the inside out. I thought it was just stress. Turns out it was the mutation... eating at me."
Nova's expression sobered. He stepped closer but didn't interrupt.
Harry looked at his friends. His smile was thin, brittle with emotion. "It's quiet now. My body doesn't hurt anymore. I didn't even know how much pain I was in until it stopped."
Ned gave him a slow nod. "You're free of it."
Peter added, "You beat what your dad couldn't."
Harry's jaw tightened, then relaxed. "Yeah. He let it win. But I didn't."
Nova finally spoke, tone calm and proud. "That serum didn't just enhance you—it corrected the rot in your DNA. You're not just stronger now, Harry. You're stable."
Harry looked down at his hands again, flexing his fingers. "Feels like I've been rebooted."
Peter patted his shoulder, voice low. "Feels like you've been reborn."
For a moment, the banter faded.
Then Ned grinned, flexing his new muscles. "Okay, not to ruin the mood, but I really want to arm wrestle something."
Peter rolled his eyes, slipping his glasses into his pocket. "Try not to punch a hole in the lab wall."
Harry cracked his neck. "I call dibs on the punching bag."
Nova leaned back, arms folded, watching them with a rare softness in his expression.
His friends weren't just stronger. They were more than they'd ever been. And that meant they were ready—for what was coming next.
And if any of them did grow tails… well, Nova had already pre-ordered tail-sized pants. Just in case.
----
Once Harry and Ned exchanged a quick look, their smirks synced like they were connected to the same brain cell. Peter, ever the chaos enabler, caught the vibe immediately and grinned.
Then all three of them slowly turned toward Nova.
Nova, still lounging like the smug demi-god he was, raised an eyebrow. "The hell are you all planning? I saw that eye telepathy. Don't think I didn't."
Peter cracked his knuckles. "Well… you did say we were stronger now."
Ned stretched one arm, admiring the definition. "Only one way to test how strong."
Harry grinned, his voice calm but sharp. "You talk big, alien boy. Let's see if you can still flex after we flatten you."
Nova blinked once. "Oh, y'all serious-serious."
Then he stood.
His relaxed stance straightened, expression sliding from amused to slightly feral. "You want smoke?"
Peter nodded. "We want the whole forest fire."
Nova smirked. "Bet."

Later – Harry's Mansion, Underground Training Arena
The elevator doors slid open, revealing a sprawling private training facility bigger than most high school gyms. Matte black walls lined with impact-resistant padding. Reinforced floors. Holographic projectors. And in the far end, racks of weaponry, obstacle rigs, and reinforced training dummies that looked like they'd been punched through more times than paperwork at the DMV.
Ned whistled. "Dude. This is like if Batman got stupid rich."
Harry shrugged. "Wayne wishes his cave had central air and a smoothie bar."
Peter eyed the high ceilings. "And we've never trained here before because…?"
Harry smirked. "Felt like flexing today."
Nova rolled his shoulders. "Good. You'll need space to cry."
Peter tilted his head. "You sure you don't wanna warm up first? Maybe pray to whatever god deals with interdimensional beatdowns?"
Nova cracked his neck. "Cute."
Then he turned the dial of his Omnitrix and first alien to be appeared was Anodite. He was seriously tempted to use it and defeat all three easily, just for shit and giggles. But that would be cheating. Well using Four Arms would also be cheating but they challenged him. Then resisting the urge, he slammed down dial shouting," It's Hero Time."
He transformed—massive muscles expanding outward, skin turning a deep crimson as his frame doubled in height and width. A fully powered-up Four Arms stood in his place, arms cracking knuckles one by one like war drums.
Four Arms raised his four arms and shouted," Four Arms."
He ignored the looks he was getting and jumped ahead and gestured to them, Come to me bitches.
