Chapter 39 - 8

Billy's voice was quiet, almost contemplative, as he responded to Marie's words.

Billy: "... Yeah..."

He then slowly raised his arms, his glowing green pupils dimming slightly as he looked at his hands, his fingers flexing as if testing their movement. His voice grew softer, almost distant, as he continued.

Billy: "... But I can remember, and easily say... She just wanted me for my soul... If I remember well... She just wanted control over me... All the remnant from me and from everyone I killed..."

The room fell into a heavy silence, the girls exchanging uneasy glances. Billy's words carried a weight that seemed to hang in the air, his admission of being used—and of having killed—stirring a mix of emotions among them.

The girls' reactions were immediate, each responding in their own unique way to Billy's words.

Bonfie froze mid-bounce, her ears twitching as her wide eyes locked onto Billy. Her usual bubbly energy was replaced by a rare moment of stillness.

Bonfie: "W-wait... You... killed people?..."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, her tail drooping slightly behind her as she processed his words.

Frenni, who had been leaning casually against the stage with a hand on her hip, straightened up slightly. Her smirk faded, replaced by a more serious expression.

Frenni: "Well... that took a dark turn~."

Her tone was still light, but there was a hint of unease in her voice as she glanced at the others.

Chiku, standing slightly apart from the group, raised an eyebrow as she observed the scene. Her expression was as neutral as ever, but there was a flicker of concern in her golden eyes.

Chiku: "Hmph. So you've got a past you're not proud of. Who doesn't?"

She crossed her arms, her tone matter-of-fact but not unkind.

Fexa, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, let out a low whistle. Her sharp eyes gleamed with a mix of amusement and intrigue.

Fexa: "Hah. Guess you're not just a weirdo—you're a dangerous weirdo."

She smirked, but there was a flicker of respect in her expression as she watched Billy.

Golden Frenni, still slightly flustered from Billy's earlier attention, watched him with a mix of curiosity and something she couldn't quite place. Her golden eyes followed his movements, but she remained silent, her arms crossed tightly.

Internally, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of tension. Billy's admission of being used—and of having killed—resonated with her in a way she didn't expect. She knew what it was like to feel... controlled.

Marie regarded Billy with her usual calm demeanor, her golden eyes glinting with quiet curiosity. She tilted her head slightly, her small, knowing smile never fading as she considered his words.

Marie: "It sounds like you've been through a lot, Billy. But the past doesn't define who you are now. What matters is what you choose to do moving forward."

Her voice was soft but carried a sense of wisdom, as if she were used to providing clarity in moments of confusion.

Before anyone could respond, Billy's demeanor shifted. He turned to look at the tables in the main room, his glowing green pupils flickering for a moment before dimming entirely. Then, in a flash of movement, he jumped—his leap so quick and precise that it seemed almost unnatural. In less than a second, he was perched on top of one of the tables, his movements fluid and deliberate.

He took a seat, his elbows resting on the table as he leaned forward, his hands clasped together and his chin resting on top of them. His pupils flickered one last time before disappearing entirely, leaving his eyes dark and hollow, like voids in the dimly lit room.

The girls stared at Billy, their expressions a mix of surprise and intrigue. His sudden movement had caught them off guard, and the way he now sat—calm yet unsettling—left them momentarily speechless.

Bonfie took a small step back, her ears twitching nervously as she glanced at the others.

Bonfie: "O-oh... That was... fast..."

Her voice was hesitant, her usual energy replaced by a rare moment of uncertainty.

Frenni, ever the quick one to recover, smirked as she placed a hand on her hip.

Frenni: "Well, shiny's full of surprises~. Guess he's not just a thinker—he's a doer too~."

Her tone was teasing, but there was a hint of admiration in her voice as she watched Billy.

Chiku, standing slightly apart from the group, raised an eyebrow as she observed the scene. Her expression was as neutral as ever, but there was a flicker of curiosity in her golden eyes.

Chiku: "Hmph. Guess he's not just talk."

She crossed her arms, her tone matter-of-fact but not unkind.

Fexa, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, let out a short laugh. Her sharp eyes gleamed with amusement as she watched Billy.

Fexa: "Hah. Guess he's got some moves after all."

She smirked, her tail flicking lazily behind her.

Golden Frenni, still slightly flustered from Billy's earlier attention, watched him with a mix of curiosity and something she couldn't quite place. Her golden eyes followed his movements, but she remained silent, her arms crossed tightly.

Internally, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of intrigue. Billy's sudden leap and calm demeanor were... captivating, in a way she didn't expect.

Marie regarded Billy with her usual calm demeanor, her golden eyes glinting with quiet curiosity. She tilted her head slightly, her small, knowing smile never fading as she considered his actions.

Marie: "It seems there's more to you than meets the eye, Billy. But that's not necessarily a bad thing."

Her voice was soft but carried a sense of wisdom, as if she were used to providing clarity in moments of confusion.

Billy's voice was quiet, almost contemplative, as he responded to Marie's words. His glowing green pupils flickered faintly in the dim light, their light reflecting off his golden exterior.

Billy: "... It is... There is much much more than what I look like... And not all is good, neither bad..."

The room fell into a brief silence, the girls exchanging curious glances. Billy's words carried a weight that seemed to hang in the air, his admission of complexity—of being neither entirely good nor bad—stirring a mix of emotions among them.

Bonfie tilted her head, her ears twitching as she clasped her hands together. Her eyes sparkled with a mix of curiosity and sympathy.

Bonfie: "Ooooh~! So you're like... a mystery box?~ Full of surprises?~"

She bounced slightly on her heels, her tail flicking behind her as she watched Billy with wide-eyed fascination.

Frenni, leaning casually against the stage with a hand on her hip, smirked as she watched Billy. Her tone was teasing, but there was a hint of thoughtfulness in her voice.

Frenni: "Sounds like you've got layers, shiny~. Guess we'll just have to peel them back one by one~."

She winked at him, her tail swishing playfully behind her.

Chiku, standing slightly apart from the group, raised an eyebrow as she observed the scene. Her expression was as neutral as ever, but there was a flicker of curiosity in her golden eyes.

Chiku: "Hmph. So you're saying you're complicated. That's... not surprising."

She crossed her arms, her tone matter-of-fact but not unkind.

Fexa, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, let out a short laugh. Her sharp eyes gleamed with amusement, but there was a hint of intrigue in her expression.

Fexa: "Hah. Guess even you have some depth, huh? Welcome to the club, weirdo."

Billy's admission of being neither good nor bad resonated with her in a way she didn't expect. She knew what it was like to feel... conflicted.

Marie regarded Billy with her usual calm demeanor, her golden eyes glinting with quiet curiosity. She tilted her head slightly, her small, knowing smile never fading as she considered his words.

Marie: "It's not uncommon to feel like a mix of both good and bad. What matters is how you choose to act in the present."

Her voice was soft but carried a sense of wisdom, as if she were used to providing clarity in moments of confusion.

Billy moved his hands down, his glowing green pupils flickering faintly as he turned to look directly at Marie. His voice was calm but carried a hint of curiosity.

Billy: "At what hour does the location open?"

The room fell silent again, the girls' curiosity piqued. They leaned in slightly, eager to hear Marie's response. Billy's sudden shift in focus—from introspection to practicality—caught them off guard, but they were more than happy to let Marie take the lead.
