His steps made no sound as he darted forward one hand gripping the mop like a spear.
He jabbed forward, aiming straight for the thing's throat…

It staggered, gurgling, but didn't fall.
He eyes widened. "Seriously?! That didn't kill it?!"
The thing lunged.
He rolled back barely missing a bite to the face. His mop hit the wall and clattered to the ground.
Then, instinct kicked in.
He ducked under its swing, swept the legs, and raised the mop overhead like a sledgehammer.
The mop slammed into its skull, collapsing it into the floor like rotten fruit.

And inside three students. One boy wielding a metal flute, and two girls, one in a torn-up volleyball jacket, the other crying but gripping a broken chair leg like a weapon.
