"I had no idea you could do something like this," Zaroth said, looking at Midnight.
"I wasn't sure I could do it myself, to be honest," Midnight admitted. "Nyra… for some reason, she felt different from the others. She had a strong attachment to life, and maybe that's why I was able to turn her."
This sounded strangely similar to how Zaroth was able to resurrect dead beasts. The most important factor was that they had an attachment to life, and secondly, that he hadn't killed them himself. Maybe Midnight was like him—unable to turn those she had killed, and perhaps she had a limit to how many she could control. But that didn't matter. He had finally found someone capable of doing something similar to what he could do.
Zaroth continued to stare at his girlfriend, his eyes filled with awe. Not only had she grown more stunning, but she was even more powerful than before. He had to get even stronger, or risk being surpassed.
