Chapter 23 - [ Chapter XXII (22): "BROOMS & PRODIGIES" ]

[ Chapter XXII (22): "BROOMS & PRODIGIES" ]

As of the moment, after finding out that this world is filled by real-life dinosaurs, dragons, and other types of monsters unknown to mankind. John Constantine became excited.

That excitement is still there as he tries to look and see the terrain this new world he finds himself has... And it is beautiful.

He could see wolves hunting in the forest, some kangaroo-like animals in the desert, birds that constantly flicker in and out of existence teleporting nearby in a flock.

Flying friendly animals that are the size of dogs, the ocean not so far away wherein hybrid animals and fishes coexist... To say that the sight is beautiful, would be an understatement.

To John who yearned for freedom for years, for all of his life... To the young man, this is the ultimate freedom.

Especially so because aside from a wand, a legendary object that wizards and witches use to perform magic... Which he did multiple times. He now also gained another object, this time in the form of a crooked broom...

A broom of which allowed anyone who wields it, to fly... And after difficulty, trial and error. John Constantine, the first-ever student of Hogwarts could say...

That yes, he is a decent flyer at least... Compared to his Professor that is.

[ "A-ahh!" ]

He turned around to his Professor, and noticed the man wiggling from side-to-side, affecting the broom on his hand. But thankfully due to a spell engraved on the mystical object, he doesn't fall and die, and gets eaten by a group of unknown animals.

Seeing this, the younger of the two wizards became worried; as he asked. [ "Professor, are you alright...?" ]

In response he was given a shaky thumbs up by the older wizard, who seems pale, paler compared to the bus ride they've just experienced minutes before.

Shrugging his shoulders, even though worried, John knows that his Professor is the Headmaster of Hogwarts, skilled in magic, and is a professional wizard, who also owns this Wizarding World for some reason. So worrying wouldn't be needed.

So John refocused his gaze, and instead looked in front... Before finally he noticed an anomaly in front of him; [ "H-hey, Professor. Look!" ] In a wide field of grass, a 3-floored ancient-looking castle could be seen.

Though small, John believes that it was just merely because he is far away, and is in the sky. He turns around expectedly at his Professor, and notices the latter nodding his head; [ "Y-yeah, uhh- that's Hogwarts." ]

Grinning from ear-to-ear, John Constantine couldn't believe his eyes... Hogwarts is really not housed in a decrepit old-building, in a country he isn't family too. And instead, it resides in an unknown fantastical world that even Narnia couldn't compete...

And best of it all... John is the first-ever student to enter here... From what he heard that is, he and his Professor have been after all, bonding when he got taught magic, and when he was eating, and also in-between everything.

So he knows a few things about Hogwarts... Just like how he knows that there is a Quill and Book that chose him to study here... Apparently alive objects, which to his ear is... Fascinating.

Not being able to contain his excitement anymore, he sped up. Like a natural with years on years of experience with the broom, even though this is merely the first-time he touched one.

To others, and Felix specially; that doesn't look like it at all.

[ "I-is this kid not really the Harry Potter of this universe...?" ]

Felix who's watching this whispered under his breath, knows about the Pottermore Universe more than this neighbouring universe. He of course knows how gifted the main protagonist is, in flying, and in how unlucky he is in life.

All weirdly enough, having mirrored the experience of one John Constantine... The characteristics they share includes but are not limited to: malnourished, doesn't look his age, gets bullied... A lot, locked up by a family member, rebellious, eager for magic, gifted in magic, gifted in flying...

What else doesn't Felix know about the young wizard?!!

[ STUDENT JOHN CONSTANTINE LVL. 1 (RARE) HAS LEARNT HOW TO USE A BROOM (CLEANSWEEP ONE); SLIGHT PROFICIENCY INCREASE ]

[ +3.5 POINTS TO PLAYER ]

He glances slightly to the side, at the text that has been forming in-between flight, and then disappearing in-between flight. A notification from the machine deities, good news to Felix because he just used about 200 Points each for a broom... And now he's truly broke, never felt this poor since what... Ever?

Nonetheless he found out that he can gain Points by teaching the students to fly with a broom and not just by teaching them how to cast spells, perhaps brewing potions— a main subject that he teaches could also make them earn Points for him.

Or perhaps, learning how to handle plants, magical or not under the Hufflepuff Witch— Pomona Sprout, could make the students like John earn Points for him.

Perhaps, but at the moment, he thinks that it'll be most beneficial for him to have John learn about flying... It gives more Points than being taught how to cast spells after all, so who could say it wouldn't give the most Points to him?

Unfortunately he doesn't specialize in this, so how about sending that certain wizard to a certain witch that has anger issues... Who's seemingly a workaholic, and knows more about brooms than him who's a no-maj and is a temporary wizard at the moment.

Felix is talking about Minerva McGonagall, she is after all a varsity in Quidditch, and knows more about brooms than anyone else inside Hogwarts... That is why she teaches Flying other than Transfiguration which she is good at.

Filius Flitwick is good at Charms and Dueling, so he teaches both of that subject— once a dueling champion from what Felix knows, but sadly he still isn't a dueling champion when Felix pulled him into this world.

Pomona Sprout is also gifted in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures, she after all teaches Herbology in the main timeline... So why not give that subject to her, years earlier than she expected. She seems to be doing fine.

And funnily enough, out of them all... Felix is the only one out of his field. He doesn't know Potions, he doesn't know Alchemy, he knows a little because he read plenty of books... But compared to the other three, he isn't gifted... Which is a shame.

But he had no choice, he needs to fill in for Potions if not, then he'll appear like a slacker to the rest of the faculty members, and he doesn't want to burden one or two Professor to teach subjects they don't know about...

Perhaps they do, and perhaps he wants one certain witch to suffer, slightly... But, he doesn't want to do that, he didn't give them Potions or Alchemy, a subject he thinks the student would love; especially because of the practicalness the two subjects could give, and also because it is important.

Instead, he wants to put his years of Pottermore and fan fiction knowledge into use, as he teaches the students... And hopefully grow while doing it.

[ "H-hey, John. D-don't descend rapidly!" ]

Having finally caught out of his daze state, Felix focused his attention on his one and only student at the moment... Which is flying so closely to the ground, rapidly falling, at the state of which Felix got concerned.

About to put all of his luck points into boosting... Felix didn't have to do that, as he notices the young wizard shouts in excitement before then going faster, which Felix thought would be impossible with the model of broom they have... But apparently he got it wrong.

And also because he notices the tall, stern, and worried gaze of one certain Professor of Flying on the ground alongside a figure of a short wizard, and a chubby witch beside her.

With those gifted witches and wizard below, Felix didn't have to worry anymore... And also because John landed on the ground, rough landing, but still a landing.

Safe at the very least.
