Chapter 17 - ~017 Blue Sky City

"One of who?" Davi asked.

"Those that has special traits…

They are known as elites in the world of magus.

It is said that anyone who awakens naturally obtains an elite ability unique only to them

Although it is only the 1% of those that awakened naturally.

The fact that you awakened one yourself is a commendable feet in itself" Gerald said as he continued.

"And based on your previous action I can deduce that yours is somewhat related to devouring the nen energy something completely unheard of…

Since you awoke your ability on the day the blood moon appeared… you wouldn't misunderstand me saying it's not a coincidence?" Gerald said as he looked at Davi before he continued.

"That said, it won't be guaranteed you pass the exam with this bit of power" Gerald continued.

"You may not know this but this exam would be different from whats done in the past.

I heard that even the infamous 'magic academies' would be attending"

"In a few more hours, we would arive at the capital what you do onwards would depend on you" Gerald said.

Glancing at Russell for a brief second, he returned to his post of guarding the caravan.

Russell had a pleasant look of surprise as this new information helped him brodern his horizon.

"From that 'mysterious liquid' I drank, I am sure that my magic attributes was previously sealed…

Going with this analogy then I should have a special trait

Although it is only the 1% that managed to awaken such abilities

I guess I will dedicate these coming days before the test to improve my control of nen and finding out if I have a special attribute…

I refuse to believe that I won't have one when Davi does" Russell thought inwardly.

Although deep down he failed to admit it, it would be a lie to say that he wasn't jealous of his brother's growth.

Davi on the other hand was very happy with this new information, at least he would not have to worry about hiding or thinking up a lie every time he used abilities from the system.

All he had to do now is just to associate it to this "Awakened Elite Ability" of His.

Of course he wasn't a fool… Davi understood that the blood moon the man spoke of was probably related to the night he obtained the Asura System.

Infact, the treasure everyone was so obsessed with is in fact, his soul.

~Sigh

"At least compared to that Jin, this man that calls himself the leader of the red rock mercenary has a lot more sense" Davi thought.

"That said, I wonder what name I give this ability of mine…

Hmmm…

Ahh! Got it!… How about DEVOURING ABYSS?"

"Yes! That's a benefiting name, perhaps I could get into one of these magic academies that Gerald speaks of" A smile formed across his face.

Davi was absolutely satisfied with his naming sense.

(Of course Davi, had not realized that this really isn't an ability, but just a side effect of his cultivation technique)

Old man Frank on the other hand was surprised that Davi managed to hide such from him.

What shocked him more is the fact that Davi choose to hide such information, any mage that awakened naturally would be respected beyond what words could express.

Lets not even talk about the town's head of blue wind town.

Heck! Even the king would do absolutely everything in his power to rope in Davi to his ranks.

"If only he could see" he thought.

Sigh~

Just as he spiraled down his own thoughts, Gerald announced to the caravan.

"We have finally arrived at our destination… the capital of the Blue Sky Kingdom,

THE BLUE SKY CITY!" Gerald said.

Everyone had a look of excitement on their faces.

Of course Davi wasn't an exception… Although his facial expression betrayed his excitement.

Soon Gerald paid the toll fee at the gate before their caravan was allowed to continue into the city.

As soon as they all disembarked, Davi, Russell and Old man Frank came to a corner before speaking.

"This old man has something to take care of… young lads be careful and stay out of trouble" Old man frank said.

Seeing the nod of affirmation from the twins, a smile blossomed across his lips.

"Here is a little something, do well to take care of your brother Russell" Old man Frank said as he handed a pouch full of rubbies.

"Thank you old man" Russell responded as he watched the old man leave.

"Woah! This place is huge and the nen here is purer than that in the blue wind town" Russell said as he admired the ancient buildings.

Taking in the fresh air of the city.

"Indeed it is better and cleaner than the slums" Davi said.

"What to do now…" Russell thought out loud.

"Lets find a place to settle in first, then maybe scout the city… we have two weeks to the exam or to be specific 1 week and 6 days, we better start our preparations early" Davi said.

~Sigh.

"You always have solutions to everything don't you?" Russell asked.

Shrugging his shoulders as a response.

Both brothers made their way into the city, as Davi held onto his twin's arm.

***

The Blue Sky City, although a third rate power was truly a sight to behold.

The buildings looked so clean and old like the building of acient greek, the had shops, stalls, inns and even the holy church.

Up ahead in the distance stood the majestic palace… The home of the King. The city structure was carefully designed, streets well paved… trully a stunning sight to behold.

The twin duo had walked for over forthy minutes but where yet to find an inn, they had already checked five inns previously but not only where they outrightly rejected because of their clothing, but the prices where sky high.

The amount of money that Old man frank left with them was only 300 bronze rubbies, adding his remaining 7 bronze rubbies, he had over 307 bronze rubbies.

Funny enough, the inns in the city where charging 500 bronze rubbies for 5 days. It was immposible for both Russell and davi to afford such an amount.

~Sigh

"If this last inn doesn't work out, we would be forced to buy a tent and set up camp out side the city" Russell said.

"Lets see what they have to offer… besides a tent isn't so bad" Davi said after a breif thought.

"It isn't, but we will have to pay toll fees each time we enter the city, and we have not also accounted for the food we will eat these next few days… Speaking of which we also need a new pair of cloths and of course a good bath.

Lets hope this inn works out" Russell explained as the made their way to a somewhat delapitated inn towards the ends of the city.

As soon as the walked in they where greeted unlike the previous inns.

"Welcome… would you like a room?" A young girl in a maiden outfit asked.

"Yes! How much would that cost?" Davi asked.

The maid's eyes narrowed… It wasn't everyday she gets to see the blind speak.

"We are the cheapest inn in the Blue Sky City, naturally our prices would be favourable.

Typically for a night we charge 15 bronze rubbies, 60 bronze rubbies for a week and 120 for two weeks" The maid relied.

"We want to make payment for a week and four days… How much would that be?" Davi asked after a brief discussion with Russell.

"That would be 100 bronze rubbies" The maid replied.

"We will take it… Does it come with food for the duration of our stay?" Russell asked.

"No! For a three square meals a day it would cast you additional 70 bronze rubbies and for two it would be 50 bronze rubbies" The maid replied.

Nodding his head, Russell proceeded to pay 150 bronze rubbies for two square meals per day, before being lead to their room.

Seeing how fast their money was reduced, he bled silently within his heart.

After the entered their room, they where shocked.

The room looked extreamly plane.

A single bed and a toilet… Heck! Even the walls where unpainted.

Davi was oblivious to this of course as he quikly settled in… Compared to the slums this place was heaven itself.

"Brother let me look and tour arround the city, get us a new pair of cloths and familarize myself… I will be back before dinner" Russell said.

"Alright brother… Be careful out there!" Davi responded.

After Russell left… Davi smiled in excitement, it was finally time to resume cultivation!
