Angelica was quick to notice the several gazes on her. They versed from hate, to disdain, to pure displeasure. These were all gazes she was used to seeing. It was no new thing.
Every single pair of eyes in the hall were now on her. The previous chatter had dissipated and a grave silence enveloped the hall.
Pippa who heard the silence and saw the condescending gazes smiled to herself. The humiliation had already began.
"What in the world is she wearing?"
"Does she think she looks good?"
"She looks out of place, that dress is hideous."
These were all the whispers of gossip that Angelica heard circulating around the room.
"I did not know that we were to wear deep green, the letter I received said to wear either beige or cream." Angelica said. Pippa turned to her and removed the smile on her face.
