The dim light vanished in an instant as cold, rushing water surged into thr narrow pathway that Selenw was in. Fear, which she had been trying to hold back, now gripped her tightly as the water roared towards her. It slammed into her, throwing her off balance.
Because she was small, Selene was tossed aside roughly as the boat itself was flung about by the angry water. Her body hit the hard wood of the boat with a painful thud, and she clung desperately to anything she could grab.
The furious water swallowed her whole even in the boat. She couldn't see anything but the swirling, dark liquid. Breathless and overwhelmed, she struggled to hold onto some part of the boat, unsure what it was. Each gasp for air was met with more relentless, whirling water.
If Selene could have spoken, she would have begged the goddess for her life. But there was no time to think. The water tossed the boat and her around without any mercy.
