The tower's interior was narrow. The dark stone made the place bleak, but the lit torches pinned to the wall and small windows illuminated the space.
Isadora placed her palm against the wall, which was too chilly and damp; they were on the lowest floor of the tower, and the continuous, relentless waves that struck against the building made the air freezing.
Her clothes clung to her body, and there was no option to change, which meant she would battle with the cold. Kraven and Logi looked okay, not once concerned about the temperature.
Isadora did her best to hide the chills and shivers taking over her body. They were in uncharted territory, and the last thing she wanted was to be a burden and have Kraven's watchful gaze on her.
They climbed the winding spiral staircase that wrapped along the inner wall, connecting each floor like the coil of a serpent.
So far, they haven't seen anyone, but the sudden sound of incoming footsteps alerted them.
