Chapter 155 - Goodbye mom(154)

Sora yawned a bit. He didn't know how long he'd been here—all he knew was that it had been a long, long-ass time.

His mother's technique had a ridiculously high ceiling just for learning the move. Someone practically had to have perfect control over Reishi for half of those moves.

Which, of course, being the perfect nepo baby he was... and to be fair, he was a nepo baby—he wasn't going to deny it—a nepo baby with the genes of the Soul King, a wannabe Soul King, and his dad.

TL;DR: Since one of his dads was the Soul King, he had no limit on his power. Well, he was a transcendent being before this even started.

Like, probably one of the strongest... still weaker than the Veg—

{I can hear your thoughts.}

He meant the glorious, magnificent being that blessed the world every day with his presence.

The oh-so-glorious being tha—

{Enough.}

Okay, so there was a limit to the glaze.

Anyway, he had just finished a super-duper technique that would surely defeat Aizen. He took his sweet time, though.

"You could have finished this a long time ago," she pointed out, her voice filled with amusement.

Sora didn't react, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"You dragged it out."

He still didn't say anything.

She took a single step forward, tilting her head. "I wonder why...?"

And then—

Her smirk widened.

"Ohhhh, I know why," she said, eyes gleaming with mischief. "My little boy just wanted to spend more time with his mommy."

Yup. That was it. There was no other reason.

This was why—because Sora knew the second the training was over, his mom would be gone. So he chose to extend it, even though he had mastered that technique about five years ago.

...Don't ask how old Sora was mentally anymore. He was probably old enough to not consider Unohana a GILF anymore—just a MILF.

Maybe just a woman around his age.

He didn't know. He had witnessed the full history of the world—not at normal speed. It was sped up. But still, he had spent a lot of time watching it.

The only real-time stuff happened in real-time when a scene had to be slowed down for an important event, like when Yamamoto was getting beat by a Hollow. Or when someone named Tokinada was seen stealing a sword...

Wait.

That wasn't the past.

Hm... cool.

Note to self: Accidentally launch a Reishi arrow at someone.

Note to self: Accidentally have a powerful move destroy the estate of that family. They were hunting Fullbringers, and those were his buddies.

{Not really.}

But Orihime was a Fullbringer, and thus, by association, they were being protected by this mama's boy.

She blinked, a little surprised at the lack of denial. Then she laughed.

"You really are a mommy's boy," she teased.

He didn't even flinch. "Damn right I am."

She grabbed his face, squeezing his cheeks like he was five years old again.

"I love you, you little idiot."

Sora's lips were smushed between her fingers. "Lub you oo, mmhmmy..."

She let go, ruffling his hair before pressing a hand against his chest. "You're gonna grow up to be strong," she said, her voice suddenly softer. "Stronger than me. Stronger than anyone. And you're going to protect the people you love."

"Heh, you're already miles stronger than me," she said, squeezing his cheeks.

She wasn't wrong.

Her son had surpassed her even before she was summoned. The closest they even got was probably No-Glove Sora in Soul Society, as both of them with perfect Reishi domination would probably stalemate for a while. And since both of their Schrift canceled each other out...

Would be a fun fight.

Which she would lose, considering her son's monstrous growth.

She smiled a bit, squeezing his cheeks—her perfect baby boy.

Sora felt his throat tighten.

"And you're going to beat that fraud ass," she added, her grin returning.

That actually got a choked laugh out of him.

He nodded. "Yeah... yeah, I will."

Then, before he could react, she pulled him into a hug.

Her warmth wrapped around him—familiar, comforting, eternal.

And yet—

He could feel it.

She was fading.

"Mom—"

"Shh." Her voice was a whisper now. "No matter what anyone tells you... Mommy will always be by your side."

His fingers tightened around her back.

"My baby... my Sora... Mommy loves you."

The words felt etched into his soul.

His body shook as he clung to her, as if holding on tight enough could stop what was coming.

It couldn't.

She was disappearing.

"Mom—!"

"Save your wifey, okay?"

"And if you meet someone by the name of Gremmy ask them how they doing okay, he is your big brother"

And then—

She was gone.

Tears fell down Sora's face, his hands grasping at the empty space where she had been.

The warmth lingered—just for a second.

And then, it was cold.

And then he felt hate.

Not toward her.

No.

If that fraud with the mustache wasn't alive, his mom would still be here. He would get to have these sweet interactions every single day.

Damn.

Didn't take much to make him hate the mustache man.

If his hate was at 100% before, now, after having spent sixteen years with his mom... in this world...

Knowing that the second he got out, she wouldn't be there...

He was going to crash out.

A/N….best nap I ever had
