Chapter 120: White Tiger Eight Wings
At the Oaklan Academy, Dai Yao sat in the carriage, occasionally touching the Ruyi Baibaosang (a magic storage bag) hanging at his waist. Dugu Yan, sitting beside him, noticed and asked with curiosity:
"Dai Yao, what's going on? Does the soul tool my grandfather gave you have some kind of treasure inside?"
Suppressing the joy bubbling within him, Dai Yao responded with a mysterious smile, "You'll know in the future."
After several days of travel, Dai Yao and his companions finally returned to the academy, their bodies exhausted from the journey.
Upon arriving home, Dai Yao quickly took a bath to wash away the fatigue, then rested with Zhu Zhuqing, holding her close as they slept.
The journey had been grueling, and sleep was much needed.
The next day.
After a night of rest, Dai Yao felt his fatigue completely dissipate. When Zhu Zhuqing went to her meditation space to continue her training, Dai Yao was left alone in their quarters. Sitting on the floor, he stared out at the transparent walls, a hint of unease in his mind.
Using his soul power, he cast a protective shield to block any external disturbances, then shifted his focus to the Baibaosang at his waist.
The rewards from this trip to the Star Dou Forest were extraordinary!
Two external soul bones, and a 6,000-year-old third soul ring.
External soul bones were incredibly rare and valuable. Even Title Douluo would fight for them. Dai Yao knew well enough not to expose them publicly. To avoid unwanted attention, he had to absorb them completely before he could safely use them in front of others.
If he didn't take proper precautions, there would undoubtedly be people plotting to take them by force.
The thought of the envious eyes that might be watching him made Dai Yao's head ache. If only he had the strength, he wouldn't have to hide and be so cautious.
In the original story, Tang San had managed to absorb his external soul bones under the pressure of several Soul Douluos from the Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Dai Yao could use a similar method to absorb his soul bones safely.
He had two viable options: Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School and Principal Jackson.
Not that the Martial Soul Hall was bad, but its personnel were too complicated. Not everyone was friendly toward him—some might even want to protect him, while others might be enemies. It was too risky.
Principal Jackson was familiar with Dai Yao, but he had just recently become a Soul Douluo, and his pressure probably wouldn't be strong enough to help Dai Yao absorb the bones completely. Furthermore, Jackson's Martial Soul was not very aggressive, so he was ruled out.
The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, on the other hand, had always been righteous. Moreover, Dai Yao had helped them significantly in the past. It only made sense for him to choose them.
"It looks like after I absorb the Eight Spider Spears, I'll need to visit the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School," Dai Yao thought to himself.
"But I can't fully trust them either. I must stay cautious."
After a deep breath, Dai Yao adjusted his body to the best state possible. He opened his eyes sharply, then slid his hand over the Baibaosang at his waist.
Eight Spider Spears appeared on the ground before him.
"Finally, it's mine—the Eight Spider Spears."
Dai Yao looked at the purple-black spider spears in front of him, his joy uncontainable.
The moment they appeared, the powerful poison from the Eight Spider Spears began to spread across the floor. The purple-black liquid quickly expanded, releasing a foul, corrosive odor.
"Such strong toxicity!" Dai Yao marveled.
"No wonder Tang San was able to turn the tide in the Emperor Fight Team battles with these Eight Spider Spears, and also save the day in the final battle against the Martial Soul Hall's Golden Generation."
"There's no time to waste; I must absorb this external soul bone!"
With a deep breath, he stripped off his clothing, exposing his broad back. He calmed his mind and focused his soul power to connect with the Eight Spider Spears in front of him.
"Go!"
He shouted lightly.
The Eight Spider Spears floated in the air, a faint hum of colliding sounds echoing as they moved. One by one, the spears positioned themselves on his back.
Dai Yao let out a deep breath and forcefully connected his soul power with the Eight Spider Spears.
His pupils contracted sharply. The pain was excruciating, causing sweat to pour down his face. His body trembled uncontrollably. It felt as though eight hot irons were pressed against his back, tearing at his flesh to connect the Eight Spider Spears with his spine.
His forehead veins bulged, and his vision blurred as he broke into a cold sweat. White mist began to form above his head.
Dai Yao felt a cracking sound as the spears began to bind with his spine, as though a new arm was growing from his back.
After the cracking sounds subsided, Dai Yao breathed heavily, looking exhausted, but his eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Finally succeeded!" he thought excitedly.
But just as he was about to rejoice, a blue light from the Chaos Blue Lotus in his spiritual world surged through his meridians and rushed toward his back.
Clang!
It sounded like a sword returning to its sheath. The Eight Spider Spears on his back were suddenly pulled back into his body, and Dai Yao, who had just been standing, fell to the ground.
However, he paid no attention to the pain from falling. Immediately, he calmed his mind and entered his spiritual world.
The Chaos Blue Lotus had triggered the blue light on its own. This was not normal!
In his spiritual world, Dai Yao was shocked to see the Sacred White Tiger writhing in pain on the ground. Behind the white tiger, eight purple spider spears had emerged.
The evil aura of the Eight Spider Spears clashed violently with the Sacred White Tiger's divine nature!
"Why is this happening?" Dai Yao was momentarily confused, but he quickly steeled himself. If he couldn't absorb the Eight Spider Spears, he would destroy them to prevent them from affecting his Sacred White Tiger martial soul.
Under the influence of the blue light, the pained white tiger stopped growling. It visibly relaxed.
The purple color of the Eight Spider Spears began to fade, gradually replaced by the white light of the Sacred White Tiger. The evil aura was pushed to the tips of the spears.
Suddenly, white feathers sprouted from the Eight Spider Spears, and the white light continued to grow. Within ten breaths, the Eight Spider Spears transformed into eight pairs of pure white wings.
The Sacred White Tiger, now with eight wings, stopped writhing in pain. Instead, it licked the wings on its back, its large pupils filled with confusion.
The appearance of eight pairs of wings made the Sacred White Tiger appear even more majestic.
"This is somewhat similar to Tang San's Sea God Eight Wings," Dai Yao thought, his eyes wide in shock and joy.
Shifting his attention back to reality, Dai Yao felt an odd sensation on his back. His body tingled, and eight pairs of snow-white wings extended from his back, stretching out luxuriously.
With a gentle flap, Dai Yao floated off the ground.
Excited, he ran outside, and with a powerful gust of wind, he shot into the sky!
Looking down at the shrinking academy below, a surge of indescribable excitement filled his heart.
"I can fly now!"
Previously, he could only fly briefly with the help of wings, but now, with eight pairs, he could soar freely.
After a short moment of excitement, he landed back on the ground to avoid being noticed.
"Since they're eight pairs of wings, I'll call them the White Tiger Eight Wings."
Dai Yao gave his new wings a name.
"Let's see what kind of power you have!"
He moved toward a nearby tree. With a swift motion, one of the wings pierced through the tree as if cutting through tofu, leaving a hole large enough for a person to embrace.
"So sharp! It's probably as powerful as the Dark Gold Fearclaw Bear's claws."
As Dai Yao marveled, the place where the tree had been pierced began to spread with purple liquid, corroding the tree at a visible rate.
Dai Yao's pupils shrank as he stared at the purple-black liquid dripping from the tips of the wings.
The toxicity of the Eight Spider Spears had not faded after their evolution.
These weapons, with their intense poison, were a powerful killing tool!
