Everyone just stood back as Sin leapt into battle like a maniac.
Kael and the rest of Ace seemed to be a bit less surprised. This was explanatory, since Sin had spoken about his interests in fighting more powerful beasts.
What Sin didn't include was the fact that he wanted to see if killing beasts leveled him up. All that he told Ace was that he just wanted to gain fighting experience.
So, it was understandable why Ace seemed to be fine with Sin rushing forward for the most part, but Agneil and his guards were still a bit stunned.
"What in the world does that idiot think he's doing?" Agneil said aloud, "Isn't he just the bag boy?"
Kael stepped beside Agneil, "Are you alright?" He checked up on the fatty, since he was the one to save him.
Agneil looked at Kael with slight disdain at first, as though he was angry that Kael even spoke to him. But then, even he realized that he might have been dead right now had it not been for Kael.
"Hmm... I'm fine." Agneil answered reluctantly.
Kael didn't waste any time in replying: "He isn't just our bag boy. I won't speak for the others, but as for myself, I consider Sin a friend. Somewhat like a disciple as well."
Agneil didn't say a word, only looking forward. Everyone came near, observing Sin from afar.
Sin sprinted forward with a slight smile still on his face, 'An ogre... isn't something I haven't dealt with in the past.' He said to himself, strengthening his fingers by tightening his fists.
Sin wasn't just a boy with no combat experience whatsoever. In fact, he loved putting himself in dangerous situations. It not only gave him a thrill in life, but he knew that hardships made him stronger.
That was especially the case in this scenario, since he had a chance of leveling up as well.
'I can almost feel it... like I'm right on the edge of leveling up. If killing beasts also gets me exp, I'm sure I'll level up.'
As soon as Sin arrived 15 feet away from the ogre, he put the force of his body into his legs and drove his feet into the ground—lunging into the air like a fierce tiger.
Now, in midair, time felt a bit slower. Sin got a good look at the ogre. Its expression was crazed—definitely not normal.
Sin had fought a few ogres in the past, wandering around their cave entrances as scouts. From the clothing that this one was wearing, Sin could tell that it was also a scout.
Scouts weren't weak. They were just as strong as every other soldier.
And the other times Sin had fought them, it was also a one-on-one, so he wasn't too worried.
But for some reason, this ogre's clothing was more roughed up than the others. It looked to have multiple small and large lacerations all across its face and body.
And the eyes of the beast told a different story. Sure, it looked like a beastly monster wanting to devour your ass... however, it also looked scared.
There was a sadness to its eyes, almost as though it was asking for mercy.
However, this slight change in expression wasn't going to shift how Sin acted at all.
Who gave a damn if the ogre was suffering? At the end of the day, it was a foul cannibalizing demon. For exp, this was a noble sacrifice.
Sin flew down with a straight axe kick swinging from the hip. The toughest part of his heel landed directly on the temple of the ogre with a loud crack.
The impact was abrupt—a ripple flowing through the ogre's entire body from head to toe as its eyes rolled into the back of its head and its feet dug into the ground slightly.
It stopped in its tracks, its legs freezing up as it flew forward and fell on its face before sliding to a stop.
Sin's eyes widened, his smile expanding, 'One kick only? Usually it took a few punches and a rock or two as well...' He immediately looked down at his hands,
'I'm already a lot stronger...' He felt an immense amount of satisfaction.
[You have slain an ogre]
[You've leveled up!]
[You have unallocated stat points]
[Next level quest: Level 10]
'Huh?' Sin's eyes widened as he saw a small tab appear in front of him, 'I leveled up? I leveled up!'
He then chuckled out loud quietly, unable to control it.
Kael tapped Sin on the back, "Nicely done... killing it in one hit was pretty impressive." He smiled.
Sin smiled back, "Thanks... even I wasn't expecting that."
As everyone made their way over to the ogre corpse, Ince seemed to be the most speechless when it came to Sin's display of power.
Sin glanced over at her just once, 'I guess it's understandable why she's so shocked. She was the only one who had an expectation of my power before the quest, so her expectations must have gotten blown out of the water quite easily.'
Sin walked up to the ogre, flipping it on its back with a nudge from his leg.
The ogre had several cuts across its arms and face.
Sin furrowed his brows on seeing this, "These are fresh."
Scarlet looked at Sin, "You're saying someone did this to an ogre? Inside of an ogre cave?"
There was a silence where glances were shot every which way.
Kael spoke up: "He's not wrong. Look at corpses long enough, you begin to understand how fresh and old cuts and injuries are."
Roby didn't seem convinced: "You're saying that there is something far stronger than this thing here? Ogres are team beasts, so I guess that explains why this one was all alone. Still, something is amiss here."
Kael frowned, "Well, let's not try to tiptoe over the elephant in the room here. Clearly, this is a Corrupted Dungeon."
Sin glanced at Kael as he heard this: "Corrupted? What do you mean?"
"Corrupted dungeons are dungeons that have a change in difficulty somewhere along their life cycle. Once, this was an ogre-only dungeon. Somewhere along the way, however, it seems another beast has made its home deeper into the dungeon. That explains not only why this ogre was badly beaten already, but that also explains why this dungeon was marked as a weak one. No one must have gone deep enough into the dungeon to check the power level of the real dungeon beasts down here."
Ince added to what Kael said, "Yeah... but that also means that there are things strong enough to block the dungeon power testing machine that the guild has. Only beasts that are B-Rank and above..."
