Chapter 16 - Queen Veronica Christopher

Starlet frowned, confusion knitting her brow. "The Magic Box? What is that?"

A storm of questions suddenly erupted in her mind. "Who is this witch? Why did she kill my mother? Why did my father never tell us the truth? Why is this kingdom hidden?"

Her voice rose with anger and frustration. "Please, tell me everything!"

McDonald looked at her with deep sadness in his eyes. Then, in a low voice, he asked, "Who told you that your mother was dead?"

Starlet and Alexandra exchanged confused glances.

"The witch… she said she killed her," Starlet murmured.

McDonald shook his head solemnly. "No… your mother is not dead."

Starlet's breath caught. "What…?"

"The witch did not kill your mother," McDonald continued. "Instead, she turned her into a statue."

"A statue?!" Starlet gasped, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Why?!"

McDonald sighed. "Wait here. I will tell you everything. But first… let me show you something."

He turned and disappeared into another room.

As they waited, Alexandra looked at Starlet, her expression filled with curiosity despite her weakened state. "Starlet… how did you get that power?"

Starlet hesitated. "What power?" she asked, pretending not to understand.

Alexandra narrowed her eyes. "Don't lie to me. That magic you used against the witch… where did it come from?"

Starlet swallowed hard. She had kept this secret for years, but now, she had no choice.

With a deep breath, she admitted, "I've always had it."

Alexandra's eyes widened. "What?"

"I discovered my magic when I was seven years old," Starlet confessed. "I told Father about it, and he made me promise never to use it. He told me to keep it a secret… even from you."

Alexandra was stunned. "But why?"

"Because… you have magic too," Starlet revealed softly.

Silence fell between them.

Alexandra's mouth parted slightly, disbelief flashing across her face. "I have magic…? Really?"

Starlet nodded. "Yes. That's why Father kept it hidden from you. He wanted to protect us."

Alexandra sat in silence, struggling to process the truth.

Everything they had believed about their past was unraveling… and the real story was only just beginning.

McDonald returned, carrying a large framed portrait in his hands. He gently placed it in front of Starlet and Alexandra, his expression solemn.

The two princesses leaned in, their eyes widening as they took in the image before them. The woman in the portrait was beautiful—with long, flowing hair, kind yet strong eyes, and a regal presence that radiated grace and power.

McDonald took a deep breath before speaking.

"This… is your mother."

Starlet and Alexandra felt their hearts race.

"Her name was Queen Veronica Christopher," McDonald continued. "She was our ruler—wise, brave, and just. She possessed incredible magical power, unlike any seen before. But more than that… she was the guardian of the Magic Box."

"The Magic Box…?" Starlet whispered.

McDonald nodded. "Yes. That box contained immense magic, a force so powerful that it could either create or destroy worlds. Your mother protected it with her life."

His expression darkened.

"And that… was what led to her downfall."

A chill settled over the room.

"The knowledge of the Magic Box spread beyond our kingdom," McDonald explained, his voice heavy with sorrow. "And soon, it reached the ears of someone terrible—a cruel and power-hungry witch named Miranda."

Starlet and Alexandra tensed at the name, their hands instinctively tightening into fists.

"Miranda desired the Magic Box for herself," McDonald continued grimly. "She wanted its power—power strong enough to bend the world to her will."

His gaze grew distant as he recalled the past.

"To achieve her goal, she transformed herself into a young and beautiful woman. Then, disguised, she entered our kingdom—Luminarin."

His voice lowered, filled with sorrow. "She came to the palace not as a threat, but as a guest. And no one knew the darkness that lurked beneath her disguise."

He paused, his eyes meeting the princesses'. "She didn't just come for the treasures of the kingdom—she came for the Magic Box."

But Queen Veronica was no fool. She sensed something was wrong—Miranda's behavior was suspicious, her words too carefully chosen, her presence unsettling. It didn't take long for the Queen to see through the disguise.

Miranda was not just a young woman. She was a witch.

The moment Queen Veronica realized the truth, she acted swiftly, having Miranda captured and thrown into the dungeon beneath the palace.

But Miranda was filled with rage.

"You will regret this, Veronica!" she had screamed from behind the iron bars. "I will destroy your family! I will burn your kingdom to the ground!"

Yet, at that time, her power was not enough to challenge the Queen.

Then—something happened that changed everything.

McDonald's voice trembled slightly. "You two were born."

With the birth of the twin princesses, Queen Veronica knew the kingdom had two future protectors. But Miranda saw it as a threat. She knew that one day, Starlet and Alexandra would inherit their mother's power—and that terrified her.

So, she came up with a new plan.

Miranda knew she needed more power if she ever wanted to defeat the Queen. And there was only one way to get it—stealing the Magic Box.

One night, she escaped from the dungeon.

And before the Queen could stop her, Miranda had stolen the Magic Box.

Using its immense magic, she built a terrifying mansion, a fortress of shadows that loomed over the land—a symbol of her growing power.

Queen Veronica knew the danger had only just begun. She realized that Luminarin was no longer safe.

And so, she made a decision.

Using the last of her powerful magic, she divided the kingdom in two—one half remained Luminarin, and the other became Andrellinia.

She entrusted Andrellinia to King Manova Christopher—your father—who took you both away to keep you hidden and safe.

But she didn't stop there.

To ensure her daughters would one day find their way back, Queen Veronica instructed the fairies to create a special book—"Luminarin."

That book became the only gateway to return to the lost kingdom.

Once the spell was complete, Andrellinia vanished—erased from all maps, concealed from all eyes.

And then—the war began.

Queen Veronica fought with all her might, wielding her legendary power. By her side was Majesty, her loyal flying horse, and a magnificent unicorn that carried the strength of the stars.

But Miranda had the Magic Box—and with it, she was stronger than ever.

Queen Veronica fought bravely, soaring through the sky on her majestic flying horse, Majesty. But Miranda, now wielding the stolen power of the Magic Box, had become nearly unstoppable.

With a final, devastating spell, Miranda froze Queen Veronica in ice, transforming her into a lifeless statue.

The battle was over.

Miranda took the frozen queen back to her dark palace, where she placed the statue in a grand chamber—a trophy of her victory.

But even with Queen Veronica gone, the people of Wonderland did not lose hope.

Whenever Miranda attacked the land, the people whispered of a prophecy. They spoke of two princesses, hidden away in a distant kingdom.

"One day, they will return. One day, they will defeat you."

Miranda grew restless.

"Who are these princesses?" she demanded.

But deep down, she already knew.

She had heard their names before—Starlet and Alexandra.

The daughters of Queen Veronica.

The daughters of the only woman who had ever stood against her.
