Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Gaining New Abilities

"My strength has nearly doubled, kid. Thanks."

Logan swung his fist, his face filled with excitement and gratitude.

Who wouldn't love becoming stronger without any side effects?

Kino recalled the decline of Logan's healing factor in his old age. Some believed Adamantium was toxic, while others thought genetically modified food played a role.

"Try your healing ability. There should be some changes," Kino suggested.

Without hesitation, Logan extended his claws and slashed his arm.

Clang!

The sound of metal clashing echoed as three deep wounds appeared on his arm, revealing the silver bones underneath. Before the blood could flow, the injuries began to heal.

Within seconds, the wounds were completely repaired, and his skin returned to its smooth, unblemished state.

"My healing factor has improved as well. It used to take over ten seconds," Logan remarked.

Kino thought to himself—perhaps it was better to say it had been restored.

Scott also opened the small box in front of him, revealing a strengthening serum, which he promptly injected.

"What is this, Wang?" Jean asked curiously, examining a small vial in the box. It didn't look like a typical serum.

"It's the essence of youth. You can use it sparingly, and it will last a long time. Initially, I intended to give you the strengthening serum, but considering its side effects, I replaced it with this instead," Kino patiently explained.

"Are there any side effects? I feel great," Logan said, flexing his bulging muscles proudly.

"Ah! What's happening to my body?" Scott suddenly cried out, drawing everyone's attention.

His once lean physique rapidly became bulkier. His fitted clothes strained against his now larger frame as if he had expanded in an instant.

"That's the side effect. Since Logan was already muscular, it wasn't noticeable on him," Kino shrugged helplessly.

"Why didn't you mention it earlier?" Scott's expression was filled with dismay.

"I was about to, but Logan interrupted me," Kino replied, spreading his hands innocently.

Logan patted Scott's broad shoulder with a grin.

"Isn't this better? You look much more impressive than your old scrawny self."

"Really?" Scott turned to Jean, hoping she'd appreciate his new appearance.

A moment later, his heart shattered.

Jean gently kissed Kino on the cheek.

"Thank you. I love your gift," she whispered softly.

Logan, witnessing the scene, tried to console Scott. "Give it up. You can't compete with him."

Scott stood frozen, his heart breaking into countless pieces as disappointment filled his eyes.

Charles examined the vial of blue serum in his hand.

"A limb regeneration serum?"

"That's right. Since your legs are still there, your paralysis is likely due to nerve damage. This serum is perfect for you," Kino confirmed, wiping the lipstick mark from his cheek.

"Thank you, Kino," Charles said, his voice trembling with gratitude and his eyes glistening with emotion.

"You're welcome. Let me administer it for you," Kino said, picking up the syringe and injecting it into Charles' neck.

No one objected. When they acknowledged Kino as the King of Mutants, they had already chosen to trust him.

Charles closed his eyes, waiting quietly for the serum to take effect.

Gradually, a warm, tingling sensation spread through his legs.

After so many years of paralysis, feeling returned to his legs for the first time, causing his heart to race and his breathing to quicken.

As the numbness faded, Charles opened his eyes and slowly extended one leg to touch the ground. It moved.

His hands trembled slightly, tears of joy glimmering in his eyes, and his lips quivered with excitement.

With shaky hands, he pushed himself up from the wheelchair and began to walk.

At first, his steps were unsteady, his body swaying as he struggled to find his balance. But he gritted his teeth and refused any assistance.

Within moments, his movements became smoother. A radiant smile spread across his face as he savored the miracle of standing and walking once more.

Jean and the others watched in awe and joy. To them, Professor X had been like a parental figure for years. Seeing him regain his ability to walk filled their hearts with pride and happiness.

"Charles, you won't need this wheelchair anymore. Mind if I keep it?"

Kino, now seated in the wheelchair, playfully manipulated the controls to move forward and backward, his face beaming with childlike glee.

The chair automatically adjusted to his posture, providing optimal comfort.

Only then did the others realize that despite his power, Kino was still just a teenager.

Jean felt a pang of guilt, silently blaming herself for burdening Kino with such heavy responsibilities.

"Of course. You've given me something far better," Charles said warmly. Even he had failed to notice the pressure they had unknowingly placed on Kino.

"Alright, I'm going for a ride!"

Kino eagerly steered the wheelchair out the door, zipping around the courtyard like a child with a new toy, disappearing from sight in an instant.

"Let's go too," Charles said, his voice filled with renewed warmth and calm.

"Professor, there's one more box here," Scott pointed out, his face still puzzled.

"It's for someone else," Charles replied simply, opening the door and stepping outside with the others following behind.

Once they were gone, a figure slipped in through the window. It was the female reporter who had asked questions earlier.

She moved with cat-like agility, landing softly without a sound.

Opening the remaining box, she found two green vials and a folded note.

"Healing serums," she murmured, reading the note aloud.

"Convince Magneto to read more about architecture. I have a multi-billion dollar project waiting for him."

"Magneto? What an interesting nickname," she chuckled softly, her lips curling into a sly smile.

Grabbing the box, she transformed into a maid she'd seen earlier and hurriedly left through the exit.

Meanwhile, outside, Kino had stopped his wheelchair antics. He gazed at the holographic image of Professor X on his communicator, a knowing smile curling his lips.

"Strength, speed, and mind—I no longer have any weaknesses. What a fruitful day."

Venom emerged and settled onto Kino's lap.

"So, why didn't you copy Jean's Phoenix Force? It's far stronger," Venom asked curiously.

Kino leaned back, basking in the sunlight. "The Phoenix Force is an energy entity. It only resides within Jean. We probably can't copy it, and trying might alarm her and make Charles suspicious. Not worth the risk."

"Fair point. Anyway, that girl will end up in your harem eventually. The Phoenix Force will be ours to command," Venom chuckled mischievously.

"The future is unpredictable. We'll take things as they come," Kino said softly. "For now, our priority is to consolidate and expand our existing power to handle any future crises."

"The greatest power is not the one you wield but the wisdom to use it wisely."
