He settled in, placing his hands on the table between them, his sharp, calculating eyes fixated on her.
Taken aback, Cristal struggled to find her voice. Why are you here, Jace? What business have you had here with me? Cristal inquired harshly.
She had no business with anyone closely involved with Kiera, and she wished to show her displeasure rather than feign things.
After all, Kiera and Jace had embarrassed her at the new beauty launch.
A small smile graced Jace's lips, and he leaned forward, elbows on the table, while intertwining his fingers.
"I could ask you the same thing, Cristal."
She opened her lips, ready to retort, when Jace shot at her again, this time hitting the nail on the head.
"Planning another smear campaign against Kiera?"
Cristal scoffed, feigning nonchalance, but deep within she was taken aback by what he said. How could he be so accurate, she wondered?
"Why would I waste my time on her? Kiera's a nobody," Cristal scoffed and averted her gaze from him.
