Author's note:((
Okay, so I'm really sorry. I feel terrible. I was writing my novel, super into it, and then – you know how it goes – TikTok happened. And I saw this manhwa, and the girl? It was like looking in a mirror.
Same purple hair (I love purple, okay?), same blue eyes (another fave!), and get this – both reincarnated from a knight into a lady. I almost choked on my coffee. Seriously.
It wasn't intentional, I swear! I genuinely thought I created her all on my own. But that manhwa… seeing those similarities…especially the whole knight-to-lady reincarnation thing… man, it was a punch to the gut.
Suddenly everything felt wrong. Did I subconsciously copy her? Probably. My love for purple and blue definitely didn't help, not to mention the almost identical plot point! Ugh, I feel awful.
I know saying "it was an accident" is a weak excuse, and it is. It doesn't change the fact that my character is almost exactly the same. That's a major fail on my part, and I'm genuinely sorry.
This has been a huge lesson about being careful and aware of what I'm absorbing while I create. I'm going back and making sure everything is truly original – even the small things, like the character's backstory.
This whole thing is super humbling. I always thought I was super original, but this really showed me how sneaky subconscious influence can be.
I'm not just fixing this; I'm changing how I approach writing going forward, or I might just end it like this (feeling guilty) This apology is me truly, truly being sorry, and showing that I'm going to do better next time.
Y'all can judge me🥲
