Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Losing the Vest +1

"Not at fault? How is that even possible!"

The woman still wanted to stir up trouble. At this moment, Ji Yu pulled out a document and pointed to a line of text: "Miss Li, the agreement you signed before the plastic surgery spelled out the rules, didn't it? Since you chose our hospital, any follow-up cosmetic or reconstruction services can only be done at 'Renewal.' You are prohibited from going to any other beauty institution for a secondary procedure."

The woman's previously arrogant demeanor instantly vanished upon hearing this.

"I-I know, so what?"

Ji Yu smirked, her eyes flashing coldly: "The complications with your wound resulted from a secondary revision surgery done at another cosmetic institution. The contract clearly states that any consequences from such actions will be borne by the patient."

"How can you be so sure I had a revision done somewhere else?"

The woman tried to deny it, but Ji Yu laughed lightly and raised her phone, dialing 110.

"I have all the contractual and monitoring records. If you refuse to admit it, the police can easily check your recent transaction history to uncover the truth."

The woman panicked and reached out to stop Ji Yu's actions: "I, I, I'm sorry, Dr. Ji, President Ji. Please just let this go once. I saw that it looked fine post-surgery, so I only went for a facial slimming injection. I didn't expect the consequences to be so severe. Can you please help me fix it again? Otherwise, my face is going to be ruined!"

Ji Yu pried the woman's hand off, looking impatient: "Sorry, 'Renewal' has always had strict rules. We don't take on clients who disregard medical advice. My staff reminded you countless times before surgery that you're absolutely prohibited from seeking secondary procedures elsewhere, even for routine injections or maintenance treatments. The conflicts in drug interactions could cause unforeseeable complications. Since you don't trust us, we won't be accommodating you again."

With that, Ji Yu stood up to leave. The woman grabbed her sleeve and shrieked, "No! I'll pay you, any amount you want! You have to restore my face!"

Ji Yu ignored her and turned to shrug off the woman's hands again. This time, the woman had prepared in advance, grabbing a pair of scissors from the desk and raising them high.

"You bitch! You want me disfigured? I'll ruin your face first!"

Whoosh!

The sharp blade cut through the air with a piercing sound, heading straight for Ji Yu's face. Just as the scissors were about to reach her, a man suddenly appeared and seized the woman's arm.

"President Ji, patients like this with mental problems should be left to us to deal with."

The man, dressed impeccably in a suit and glasses, appeared gentle and refined, but he acted with remarkable efficiency.

He worked with a few bodyguards to subdue the woman and quickly escorted her out of the room.

Inside the room, only another man remained. Ji Yu heard him speak, "Are you 'Ji Yu'? I've booked an appointment for the afternoon."

Ji Yu turned around, and when she saw the man's face, she was stunned.

"Gu— *cough cough*!"

Ji Yu choked on her own saliva, almost blurting out Gu Qixiao's identity.

What's he doing here? Didn't he say this morning that they'd never cross paths again for the rest of their lives? It's only been a few hours!

Ji Yu felt dizzy, unwilling to face the reality.

Truly cursed fate!

Equally shocked was Gu Qixiao. He hadn't expected the woman from last night to turn out to be *that* "Ji Yu."

Gu Qixiao frowned. He hadn't paid much attention to Ji Yu before, but now he was brimming with suspicion.

"So, you're the so-called 'miracle hand of beauty,' Ji Yu?"

Ji Yu sighed. Realizing there was no way to avoid it, she made no attempt to hide the truth—after all, "Ji Yu" was just an alias. As long as Gu Qixiao didn't discover she was his ex-wife, that was fine.

"Yes, that's me. You've made an appointment at our hospital? I seem to recall Tian assigning me a woman on the VIP client list."

Gu Qixiao remained silent for a moment, then asked someone to close the door before handing Ji Yu a business card.

"I'm Gu Qixiao. I booked this on behalf of a friend. She was in a fire, and her face was severely burned."

Along with the business card, he also handed her a photo of Song Xuan. Ji Yu could see that the woman's burns were extensive. Besides her intact facial features, her entire face was covered with disfiguring scars.

In three years of marriage, Ji Yu had never known such a woman existed.

She looked at Gu Qixiao's indifferent, handsome face and scoffed.

Oh, so this is his mistress's real face.

Even in this state, Gu Qixiao hadn't abandoned her. He'd spent three years searching for "Ji Yu" just for her. It seemed the richest man in S City was truly a devoted man!

Ji Yu casually nodded, her reaction nonchalant even after Gu Qixiao revealed his identity: "Got it. I can save her. Send her to the hospital."

Gu Qixiao pondered for a moment: "Could Dr. Ji perform the procedure at home? I'll prepare all the equipment you need, and as for medical fees, just name your price. Her identity is sensitive, and I'd like to ensure confidentiality."

"Sorry, no can do." Ji Yu rejected him outright. "President Gu, you should've discovered my personality while investigating me. I have absolute authority over my patients. If she wants cosmetic surgery, she'll have to come to Renewal."

Ji Yu felt slightly irked. To her, it sounded like Gu Qixiao's concern was focused on protecting that woman's reputation.

They were already divorced—there wouldn't be any reports branding him as someone who "cheated with a mistress." So why all the secrecy?

For someone as powerful as Gu Qixiao, this was his first time encountering such a defiant and unyielding attitude. This woman truly wasn't afraid of him in the slightest.

Gu Qixiao squinted his eyes, his aura becoming colder: "Dr. Ji, can't you make an exception?"

"Nope."

Sitting on her desk, Ji Yu crossed her legs and opened the file for her next client: "If President Gu is unwilling, you can only look for another cosmetic surgery hospital. Renewal can't accommodate someone as important as you."

"President Gu, if there's nothing else, please leave. My next patient has also waited three years for an appointment."

Ji Yu's icy tone left Gu Qixiao stifled with no outlet for his frustration.

The tall, handsome man stood at the doorway, silent for a long time, pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation.

"Fine. I'll go pick her up now."

Gu Qixiao ordered his assistant to send him to the apartment where Song Xuan was staying and relayed Ji Yu's requirements to her.

Song Xuan flew into a rage, smashing dishes left and right: "Who does that Ji Yu think she is! Such a huge ego! Not even afraid of the Gu family's president—does she think we wouldn't dare crush her?!"

Hearing her toss around threats of death, Gu Qixiao frowned.

From the moment he took responsibility for Song Xuan, he learned she suffered from severe bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. As long as she didn't cross any major lines, he didn't bother holding her accountable for her actions.

Including the aphrodisiac from last night.

Song Xuan had been disfigured in a fire as a child, which left her a recluse who avoided the outside world and strangers.

If not for hearing about Gu Qixiao's divorce yesterday—which put her in a jubilant mood—she wouldn't have insisted on dragging him to Moon for drinks.

But what Gu Qixiao hadn't expected was that Song Xuan would actually dare to drug him, attempting to turn their predicament into a done deal.

Gu Qixiao had promised her brother that he'd take care of her for life, but he had never been fond of her romantically. Even now, after his divorce, the idea of remarrying didn't cross his mind.
