Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Accepting a mission

Chapter 10 - Accepting a mission

Alex walked forward toward the quest board.

As a person who had ample knowledge about guilds from those novels he read in his time at earth. According to that, the guild quest board was different from the ones in novels.

There were no fight over the quest selection among the professionals. In fact, they were looking at the quest board with patience and discussing their plans and strategies.

He looked at the rather harmonious site and went there more confidently.

Looking at his figure slowly walking towards the board, there were some people who were rather intrigued by his courage. Some even sneered at his figure and began to watch.

With so many people present, his act of receiving the ID plaque was witnessed also his tattered novice armour, which became quite a contrast with his handsome face.

After arriving in front of the groups of people, he squeezed past them and looked at the quests.

[Mission - Kill 100 Rank 1 beasts and bring their corpses.

Level Requirements - 3~5

Rewards - Depending on the corpse condition.]

[Mission - Kill 1000 Rank 1 beasts and bring their corpses.

Level Requirements - 3~10 (Team or solo)

Rewards - Depending on the corpse condition.]

[Mission - Kill Rank 2 beasts and bring back their venom tails.

Level Requirements - 3~10 (Team or solo)

Rewards - Depending on the corpse condition and the quality of venom.]

...

After looking at the quests, Alex decided to go over a task that he had liked.

[Mission - Kill 1000 Rank 1 beasts and bring their corpses (or materials obtained from them).

Level Requirements - 3~10 (Team or solo)

Rewards - Depending on the corpse condition.]

This mission was easy for him and there was no problem in handling it. The troublesome part was none but teamwork, which he had no experience of.

He touched the quest notice with his ID plaque, and it disappeared before having his name stamped on it. People in the crowd were shocked at the scene.

A level 0 newbie taking a level 3 quest was rare in their sight, as it was akin to a lamb entering the tiger's den willingly.

"Kid, It's not too late to change your preference."

"Yeah he's right."

"You wouldn't even know how you died."

"Why not wait for a few months in the beginner zone and then take this mission?"

"Yeah, you can gain some plenty of teamwork experience and combat experience too."

"Being young is a good thing, but you have to make your choices carefully."

As soon as he accepted the quest, there was a flurry of consolations from the people around him, which also overwhelmed him a lot.

It was a rather touching moment where strangers were worrying about him out of their sincerity.

"Thank you for worrying about me, seniors, but I'm already at level 3." Alex spoke with a soft smile on his face.

Silence.

Though the commotion had started over the mission board, but it had already reached over the tables of every professional present. It was simple because of the guild's tavern type environment where information and gossips were thrown here and there on a whim.

A newbie reaching over to the quest board was not a new thing, but one accepting a mission was shocking in itself.

Mind you even thought there were veterans in the guild they would prefer to band with a party for any mission if possible. Though this would affect their levelling progress and merit points by more than 50% it was still the safest route to a lease of life on the battlefield.

Among these experienced professionals, there were also some of level 10 and higher. Even they didn't dare to accept the task to kill beasts in large numbers.

Now that they saw a newbie telling them that he had was already level 3 what would be their responses?

"Bah, Everyone saw you receiving your ID plaque a few minutes earlier."

"We may be stepping in your decision, but it's for your own good."

"Yeah, kid, don't take our worry for granted."

Alex couldn't help but be helpless in this situation as he also got it that these veterans were not with malice towards him, yet he could not back down from his decision.

Putting down the mission would make him incapable of receiving another quest as he would again be forced to return it no matter what the reason.

"Everyone, how do I prove myself for accepting this mission?" Alec said with a determined smile.

Silence again.

"Well...that's a confident look."

"I suddenly think he's not lying, but part of me says that he is just a newbie who arrived a few days ago."

"How about we use that?"

Murmurs began to wander in the guild with everyone knowing that Alex, a newbie with barely spent three days on battlefield was claiming to be a level 3.

There were several people who suggested him to just show his personal terminal, but he refused by using the general as a shield.

Just the mention of the general was enough to scatter half the crowd's doubt slightly, but they could still not believe it.

After minutes of discussion, a final decision was agreed upon. Even a few level 10 and higher had acted as the judge for just and fairness.

The tables and chairs that were placed neatly all over the floor were now swiftly placed on the edges, leaving the middle area empty.

"As you call yourself as a mage type professional, then we'll test you on its level 3 aspects. Are you comfortable with it?" The elderly man wearing a mage robe spoke softly to Alex.

"Yes." Alex nodded.
