"Sir."
"Sir."
The voice sounded distant at first, like an echo underwater.
Eryx forced his heavy eyelids open, the blurry ceiling above him slowly coming into focus. A familiar face leaned over him, Callum, looking tense and pale.
"Sir, don't move," Callum said urgently, one hand pressing gently against Eryx's shoulder to keep him down. "An ambulance is on its way."
Eryx tried to lift his head but the pounding in his skull was brutal. Gritting his teeth, he managed to whisper, "Don't tell Lunara. Or my family..."
Callum's eyes flickered with worry, but he gave a quick nod. "Understood, sir. Just hang on."
A faint smirk tugged at Eryx's lips, but before he could say anything more, the darkness pulled him under again.
He had been unconscious for two days now, and for Lunara and his family, he was missing.
Callum did his best to cover for him, answering calls and sending messages from Eryx's phone, making excuses that he was away on sudden business.
