A massacre—a one-sided slaughter.
Even with the Hao Tian Sect's millennium of accumulated ultimate techniques, they were still exceedingly fragile when facing Ye Wen's meticulously trained disciples.
As for the remaining soul masters, faced with the overwhelming strength and numbers of the Holy Spirit Empire's forces, they had no will to resist. One by one, they knelt on the ground, raising their hands in surrender.
However, the army of the Holy Spirit Empire, inheriting Ye Wen's rigorous style, did not show mercy. They swiftly shackled the captives with spirit-restraining cuffs and began processing them like the prisoners from the previous day.
Some individuals, plagued by guilt or staunchly opposed to the empire, attempted to flee. But without exception, they were ruthlessly suppressed.
Now, the only ones still resisting were the former twin stars of the Hao Tian Sect—Tang Xiao and Tang Hao—locked in a fierce battle with Dao Ba.
The Hao Tian Hammer was indeed powerful, but its flaws were glaringly obvious.
If a single explosive burst failed to defeat the opponent, the wielder would find themselves trapped like a turtle in a jar—with no way out but death.
Dao Ba's strength was precisely what Tang Xiao and Tang Hao could not overcome. After a prolonged struggle, the two brothers were eventually defeated, staring at Dao Ba with unwilling eyes.
"Hao Di, it's my fault. It seems we'll die here today," Tang Xiao said bitterly.
Tang Hao, equally weakened, knew that death was inevitable. Yet, he calmly stepped in front of Tang Xiao.
"Don't say such nonsense, Big Brother. If I hadn't made mistakes back then, this wouldn't have happened. Let me go first, Big Brother.
You wretches of Tian Xing, come on!!!
I'm standing right here—kill me!
But don't get cocky. You may have used some tricks to take my son away, but my son Tang San has become a god. You will face divine retribution someday. I'll be waiting for you in hell."
Though Tang Hao's words were filled with arrogance, his eyes brimmed with unyielding resolve.
This display of courage earned admiration even from nearby soldiers. Truly worthy of Title Douluos.
But Dao Ba paid him no mind. In an instant, he appeared before Tang Xiao and swung his blade.
Tang Xiao's head soared into the air, followed by a geyser of blood.
"Big Brother!!!" Tang Hao's eyes bulged as he watched the scene unfold.
He glared at Dao Ba, his voice trembling with hatred. "Beast! Why didn't you kill me first!?"
Dao Ba responded with a kick, sending Tang Hao sprawling to the ground.
At this moment, Dao Ba leaned on his martial soul, lazily scratching his ear with his pinky finger.
"Stop your blabbering—it's giving me a headache.
Don't worry, you're definitely going to die. Just not by my hand. Your life was already claimed by someone else."
"What?"
Tang Hao's heart was filled with astonishment as memories he had subconsciously ignored resurfaced.
A bitter smile gradually spread across Tang Hao's face.
"Is that you, Ah Yu?" Tang Hao tried to ask.
But Dao Ba ignored him, sitting down nearby and idly watching the battlefield being cleaned up.
The more Dao Ba acted nonchalant, the stronger Tang Hao's unease grew.
After all, Ah Yu's reappearance was shrouded in mystery. In Tang Hao's understanding, mortals couldn't achieve resurrection.
Moreover, his supposedly invincible son, hailed as the strongest in the Douluo Continent, had been effortlessly taken away by the enemy commander. The strangeness of it all left Tang Hao, now utterly weakened, feeling increasingly uneasy.
But what could he do now? The Hao Tian Sect's ultimate techniques had brought them both triumph and ruin.
By now, the scattered combatants had regrouped, each dragging the corpse of a Hao Tian Sect elder and tossing them into a pile.
Looking at the once-glorious proof of their sect's might, Tang Hao's tiger-like eyes welled with tears, his heart heavy with sorrow.
"Perhaps this war truly marks the end of the Hao Tian Sect," Tang Hao lamented.
But then he thought of the remnants of the Hao Tian Sect's bloodline preserved on Sea God Island, which brought him some solace. At least the Hao Tian Sect's legacy hadn't been completely extinguished.
However, the appearance of a certain figure sent Tang Hao spiraling into panic.
"A-Ah... Yu." Tang Hao struggled to speak.
Ah Yu's arrival stirred no ripples.
Years had passed, but A Yu remained a graceful beauty. Her cold demeanor, paired with a long black-purple dress, gave her an aura of untouchability.
As she approached the fallen Tang Hao, her expression showed no emotion, her steps slow and deliberate.
But the closer Ah Yu came, the more Tang Hao's heart raced. He couldn't even bring himself to look directly at his former wife.
In moments, Ah Yu stood before Tang Hao, silently gazing at the man she had once deeply loved. Her eyes held no complex emotions—only cold indifference.
"A—"
In his final moments, Tang Hao wanted to say something, to turn and face Ah Yu directly. But just as he tried, Ah Yu waved her delicate hand.
A group of round objects rolled onto the ground.
The overwhelming stench of blood filled the air, sending a chilling premonition through Tang Hao.
When the true nature of those round objects became clear, Tang Hao's face twisted in horror.
He recognized several familiar faces vividly, while others were vaguely familiar.
His worst fears were confirmed.
But Tang Hao refused to accept this reality, screaming in disbelief.
"No! Impossible! What have you done? What have you done, Ah Yu!? Answer me! You vile woman!!!"
In the end, Tang Hao cursed the woman he had once loved deeply, even attempting to crawl forward and grab her by the collar. But utterly drained of strength, he could only glare at her with furious eyes, as if wanting to devour her whole.
Yet Ah Yu's expression remained utterly calm. She spoke indifferently.
"The heads of 362 members of the Hao Tian Sect from Sea God Island are here."
The precision of her count, even exceeding Tang Hao's knowledge, made him feel as though his entire being would explode. The island had been the sect's last refuge—why had every single disciple been slaughtered, their heads severed?
Seeing Tang Hao's reaction, Ah Yu's usually placid lips finally curled into a chilling, vengeful smile.
"Are you angry? Are you pained? Are you despairing, Tang Hao? But all of this is your fault—it's what you deserve.
I didn't want it to end this way, but because of you! Our child is dead! Dead!
You useless piece of trash!
Are you still dreaming that the evil spirit who stole our child's body will bring your precious Hao Tian Sect glory?
I will crush that hope entirely and make you feel the same despair I once felt! All of you—die! You scum of the Hao Tian Sect."
Ah Yu's curses and venomous words left Tang Hao pale-faced, overwhelmed by deep guilt. But the despair of the sect's destruction also clouded his mind, leaving him in a daze.
