Chapter 14 - Challenge Accepted

Lisa sat in the main chambers with Maradona and Beckam, who kept their cold, hateful gazes fixed on her.

She could feel their hostility deeply—it was suffocating.

"Lady Lisa," Helen called as she entered. Lisa quickly stood up, relieved. The tense atmosphere was unbearable, and she just wanted to leave.

"Your bath is ready," Helen informed her. Lisa nodded and turned to leave, but Maradona suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her path.

"Tell me, are you a witch?" Maradona demanded, her voice sharp and accusing.

Lisa blinked in confusion. "What?"

"It makes no sense," Maradona continued, narrowing her eyes. "A man who I thought had no capacity for feelings is suddenly caring so much for a young wolf like you. You must have bewitched Klaus."

Lisa raised a brow, utterly baffled. Could a witch even bewitch a demon? Especially him—the king of all evils? Klaus couldn't even be attacked by a witch, let alone controlled by one.

"Lisa," Klaus's voice echoed from the entrance, and the three of them turned toward him.

Maradona's gaze faltered immediately, and she stepped back from Lisa. She didn't want Klaus to catch her confronting her rival.

"Get ready. We're going on a trip," Klaus said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Beckam stood up in disbelief, exchanging a shocked look with Maradona.

"Me?" Lisa asked, equally stunned.

"We'll leave soon," Klaus added before turning and walking away.

Helen turned to Lisa with an excited smile. "Let's quickly get you ready, Lady Lisa."

Lisa nodded and followed Helen, while Beckam stepped closer to Maradona.

"Tell me this is just a bad dream," Beckam muttered, her voice laced with disbelief.

Maradona clenched her jaw.

"I've been married to him for years," Beckam continued, "and I've only gone on one trip with him—and that was because you weren't feeling well. He always takes you on his trips. So why, all of a sudden, is he choosing her?"

"She's slowly taking your place, Maradona," Beckam whispered, leaning closer to her. She shoved Maradona's hair to the side casually, almost mockingly. "Demon Queen, huh? It doesn't look like it. 'Queen Lisa' has a better ring to it."

Maradona's fists tightened, her nails digging into her palms as her eyes turned a fiery red.

"I am Maradona. The Demon Queen. And that's not up for debate," she hissed, her voice trembling with rage.

She stormed out of the room, heading toward Klaus's chambers.

Behind her, Beckam chuckled mockingly. "Not debatable? You can't even hold onto your title against a little wolf."

Meanwhile,

Lisa was in her chambers, getting ready.

She stood in front of the mirror, brushing her hair as Helen packed her belongings.

"This or this?" Helen asked, holding up two gowns.

Lisa pointed to the blue one but hesitated before standing up.

"What kind of trip is this? Do you have any idea?" Lisa asked curiously.

Helen nodded. "It's the King's Night."

Lisa's eyes widened in surprise. Of course, she knew about the event. She had attended for five years with Alpha Davin but had never seen Klaus there. Did he usually attend it?

"The King asked you to go with him instead of Lady Maradona," Helen added, her tone teasing. "I think he really considers you important."

Lisa shook her head, though her heart was racing. She already had an idea of what was happening.

Klaus never attended King's Night. But this year, he was going—and with her. Was it because he wanted her to face Davin?

"Our paths will cross once more," Lisa thought. "It's time to face Davin again and prove to him that my world didn't end the day he rejected me."

"I don't want the blue gown," Lisa said suddenly, determination flashing in her eyes. "I want to wear something that makes me stand out—something that tells everyone I am the Demon Queen."

Helen smiled knowingly. "Something black?"

Lisa nodded. "Exactly."

---

Maradona, meanwhile, had reached Klaus's chamber.

She barged in without knocking, finding him standing by the window, gazing at the sky.

"What are you doing?" she demanded, her voice trembling with anger.

Klaus didn't respond, his expression distant, lost in thought.

"You can't do this to me, Klaus," Maradona muttered, her voice breaking slightly. "You can't keep disrespecting me like this."

Her eyes welled up, but she quickly blinked back the tears.

"I've always gone on every trip with you. But now, you're taking her? Lisa is just some wolf you recently married—why are you treating her this way?" Maradona questioned, her voice rising.

She felt like Lisa was growing bolder with every passing day, speaking to her as she pleased, all because Klaus pampered her.

Finally, Klaus's gaze shifted to Maradona. He stepped closer to her and removed his mask, his sharp eyes boring into hers.

"Get out," he roared, his voice echoing through the chamber.

Maradona shook her head, refusing to back down.

"I was crowned the Demon Queen, and you can't take that title away from me," she said firmly, her voice trembling with emotion.

"I decide who I take on trips," Klaus said coldly. "And I chose Lisa. Don't you dare question me."

He turned to leave, but her next words stopped him in his tracks.

"If you go on this trip with Lisa, don't blame me if I try to take her life," she threatened.

Klaus turned back slowly, his expression unreadable. "Is that a threat?"

Maradona nodded, her hands trembling with suppressed rage.

"Do you think you're capable of hurting her?" Klaus asked, his tone calm but piercing.

Maradona's brows furrowed. She was the most powerful female demon—how could she not manage to hurt a mere wolf?

"You think I'm not?" she asked, her voice full of disbelief.

Klaus nodded. "I doubt you can."

With that, he left the room, leaving Maradona standing there, seething with anger.

---

Maradona burst into laughter, the sound bitter and filled with venom.

"He thinks I'm no match for Lisa?" she muttered, shaking her head in disbelief.

If Klaus hadn't interfered the last time her followers attacked Lisa, the wolf's body would already be decomposing in a grave.

"Challenge accepted, Klaus," she whispered darkly. "I'll make you remember exactly who you're married to."

Her lips curled into a wicked smile.

"Enjoy your trip with your little wife, because it will be her last."
