Chapter 73 - CHAPTER 73

Aoki ventured deeper into the abandoned power plant, searching for a Pokémon that met his standards. However, he found only a few Pokémon with Quasi-Elite potential, and they were primarily Electrode and Manectric, neither of which interested him.

Tetsuya, on the other hand, managed to capture a Manectric with Gym-level potential. It wasn't an exceptional find, but given Tetsuya's financial constraints and limited resources, it was still a decent addition to his team.

Aoki didn't bother to advise Tetsuya on his choice. The fact that Tetsuya was able to accompany him this far was already a privilege, and Aoki had no intention of offering free guidance.

"Aoki, what kind of Pokémon are you looking for?" Tetsuya asked, trailing behind.

"Either a Magnemite, a Magneton, or an Electabuzz," Aoki replied, keeping his hands in his pockets while scanning the area carefully. He didn't want to overlook any potential finds.

Suddenly, a flash of yellow streaked past his vision, darting into a side room. Though the glimpse was brief, Aoki instantly recognized the Pokémon—it was an Electabuzz.

An Electabuzz, huh? That's perfect.

If he could train it properly and evolve it into Electivire, it would be an incredibly powerful addition to his team. Electivire was known for its sheer offensive power, and with its high speed and strong physical attacks, it was one of the best Electric-type Pokémon available.

Not only that—Electivire looked intimidating and exuded an aura of authority, which aligned well with Aoki's preferences.

Without hesitation, Aoki rushed into the room.

His Blaziken, ever-vigilant, followed closely behind, prepared to intercept any attacks. The Fire/Fighting-type Pokémon had been Aoki's reliable protector, ensuring that no surprise assaults could harm its Trainer.

As soon as Aoki stepped inside, a bolt of electricity was launched toward him.

Zap!

Before the attack could reach Aoki, Blaziken stepped in and effortlessly deflected it with a well-timed kick. The force of the impact caused sparks to scatter across the room.

Blaziken's eyes burned with fury, and flames flickered at the corners of its beak. It was ready to retaliate at any moment.

"Wait, Blaziken. No need to rush in. Let's try diplomacy first."

Aoki raised a hand, signaling for Blaziken to hold its attack. His gaze then shifted toward Electabuzz, whose fur bristled with static electricity, ready for another strike.

Aoki quickly examined its data with his system.

• Name: Electabuzz

• Type: Electric

• Abilities: Static, Vital Spirit (Dual Abilities!)

• Strength: Upper-tier Superior

• Potential: Quasi-Elite

• Moves: Thunderbolt, Thunder Punch, Discharge…

• Egg Move: Thunder

Aoki's eyes widened in surprise.

A dual-ability Electabuzz? That's rare!

Most Pokémon typically had a single ability, but on rare occasions, some were born with dual abilities. Static allowed it to paralyze opponents upon contact, while Vital Spirit prevented it from falling asleep.

Combined with its Quasi-Elite potential, this Electabuzz had the foundation to reach Elite-level strength with the right training.

Its moveset was also well-developed, with Thunderbolt and Thunder Punch for offense, while Discharge could deal with multiple opponents at once. Thunder was an egg move, meaning this Electabuzz came from a strong lineage.

This is a great find!

Aoki's excitement was evident as he spoke to Electabuzz.

"Electabuzz, how about joining me? I guarantee you'll have all the resources you need to become stronger."

Tetsuya, standing behind him, nearly choked.

Did he just say 'all the resources you need'…?

What kind of Pokémon Trainer tries to convince a Pokémon by offering unlimited resources?

But Electabuzz wasn't easily persuaded. Its hands crackled with electricity, forming a powerful Thunder Punch as it took an aggressive stance.

It was not interested in sweet words—it wanted a fight.

Tetsuya, observing from the side, muttered, "Electabuzz is really well-developed. They say that if trained properly, it can evolve into an Electivire, but no one really knows how."

Aoki, however, already knew the evolution method.

Unlike most Pokémon, Electabuzz could only evolve into Electivire when traded while holding an Electirizer.

"Blaziken, counter its attack with Sky Uppercut."

Blaziken dashed forward at incredible speed. Its muscular arms flexed, and then—with precise footwork—it dodged Electabuzz's attack before launching a devastating Sky Uppercut.

Boom!

Electabuzz took the full brunt of the attack and was sent flying.

"Crap, I forgot…" Aoki muttered.

Since Electabuzz had the Static ability, there was a chance Blaziken could be paralyzed on contact.

Luckily, Blaziken landed without any signs of paralysis.

Wasting no time, Aoki gave another command.

"Blaziken, use Flamethrower!"

A pillar of searing flames erupted from Blaziken's mouth, engulfing Electabuzz before it could recover.

Electabuzz struggled to resist, but after a brief moment, its body slumped to the ground, its eyes rolling back in unconsciousness.

It had fainted.

Aoki tossed a Luxury Ball at Electabuzz.

Click!

The ball shook a few times before confirming the capture.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have successfully captured Electabuzz!]

Tetsuya, standing beside Aoki, nodded in admiration.

"Nice capture, Aoki. That Electabuzz is definitely a strong one."

Aoki picked up the Luxury Ball, a smirk forming on his lips.

Though he had been lucky in the past—getting Pokémon with Elite and even Champion-level potential—he knew that luck alone wasn't enough.

This Electabuzz might not have an absurdly high potential like some of his past captures, but it had solid foundations. With proper training and the right resources, it could definitely reach Elite-level strength in the future.

Now, if only I could find a Silver or Gold Bottle Cap…

Aoki suddenly thought about Steven Stone and his Shiny Metagross.

Compared to Steven, Aoki wasn't doing too bad himself. Not only did he have multiple rare Pokémon, but he even had a Mythical Pokémon in his collection.

Speaking of Steven, he had been gifted a Jirachi.

Now that's some insane luck…

Tetsuya interrupted his thoughts.

"Aoki, now that you've caught your Pokémon, how about a battle?"

Aoki grinned.

"Sure, let's do it."

Blaziken cracked its knuckles, ready for another fight.

Tetsuya took a Poké Ball from his belt and smirked.

"Since you're using Blaziken, I'll go with my strongest Pokémon—Meowth!"

Aoki raised an eyebrow.

Tetsuya knew that Meowth was at a type disadvantage, yet he still sent it out?

He must be confident in its abilities.

Aoki smirked.

"Alright then… Let's see what you've got."
