Chapter 46 - She Was the One Who Asked For This!

'What the hell was that noise?' Suika, hearing the strange sound, paused in confusion and lifted her head to look toward the source.

When she saw Reimu instantly "die," her pupils trembled violently.

How did she just drop dead while I was only taking a few sips?!

Just then, she noticed Sakuya's grip subtly changing, and a foreboding feeling crept into her heart.

"Wai—"

CRACK!

Suika's head slammed back into the wine jar, and she went completely still.

Even Reimu, unconscious on the other bed, twitched reflexively at the sound.

Rin gave Sakuya a complicated look.

"Sakuya, you should tone it down a bit. Even if Suika and Remilia are tough, they can't handle this level of 'practice.'"

"I got too used to the previous exercise and didn't adjust in time."

"Is she dead?"

"Nah. Just put another jar of wine next to her, and she'll auto-revive."

"Really?!" Before Sakuya could respond, Suika's head immediately shot back up.

'f you're giving out another jar, then who cares about a little torture?! You can even take Yuugi and rough her up—I don't care!'

Sakuya's eye twitched before she shoved Suika's face back into the jar.

As she gradually adjusted her strength, Remilia and Marisa outside the shop were growing impatient.

"What are they even doing in there? Why aren't they coming out?"

"Maybe they're taking a nap?"

"Impossible. Sakuya would never nap outside the Scarlet Devil Mansion."

"You think they figured out our plan?"

"No way! Our plan's airtight. Who'd expect the two of us to suddenly team up?"

Marisa shook her head. They were probably just busy with something else inside.

If it were a bone-setting massage, they should've heard more noises by now...

Wait—what if they're already going at it?! Right in front of everyone?!

Marisa's mind immediately conjured up some very explicit images, and her breathing hitched.

Meanwhile, Remilia pouted before suddenly getting an idea—

"Why don't you just steal something random and see if it lures them out?"

"The owner's not even here right now. Won't work."

Grumbling, Marisa casually grabbed a pack of instant noodles from the shelf and stuffed it into her hat.

The instant she did—

ZZZT!

A familiar jolt of electricity shot up her spine.

Marisa froze.

WHAT THE F—?!

IT TRIGGERS EVEN WHEN HE'S NOT HERE?!

Her face turned green as she stood completely still, terrified of suffering an immediate death.

Remilia, oblivious, sighed after seeing no one emerge from the back room.

"Guess we'll just have to wait longer."

"Let me try those noodles. Never had this flavor before."

She reached out—

"DON'T TOUCH IT!!!"

Marisa's sudden roar stunned Remilia into stillness.

Under her bewildered gaze, Marisa spoke with unprecedented sincerity—

"Actually, now that I think about it... this is kind of unethical."

"As residents of Gensokyo, we shouldn't be doing something so shameful!"

"The owner's been nothing but good to us, trusting us completely—how could we betray him?!"

"This is immoral!"

Since when do you know words like that?!

Remilia stared at her like she'd been possessed.

Marisa, meanwhile, felt the terrifying sensation fading and cautiously wiggled her fingers.

Once she confirmed she was safe, she let out a sigh of relief—

—Only for the moment she put the noodles back on the shelf, the sensation skyrocketed again.

"GYAAAA—!!!"

With a tragic wail, Marisa collapsed, trembling violently.

Her eyes rolled back as sweat poured from her body.

Remilia blinked in confusion, but before she could process anything, Marisa forced herself back up.

Staggering at first, she broke into a sprint toward the back room, her sheer willpower pushing her faster and faster.

"Y-you bastard—I'll kill you!!! Ah Fuc─! Always—ah!—always targeting me!!!"

Hearing the strange, wavering shouts from outside, Sakuya glanced at Rin in confusion.

Rin calmly removed his hand from Yuugi's body and stood.

"I'll go handle some 'housekeeping.' Keep at it."

"..." The moment the door closed, Suika—who had been playing dead—immediately perked up and whispered—

"Wanna go eavesdrop? That sounded juicy."

"My instincts say there's drama!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Marisa's dazed, agonized scream grew even louder.

A loud thud echoed, followed by the sound of a door slamming open next door.

The two in the "interrogation room" couldn't resist anymore and pressed their ears against the wall.

To their surprise, everyone who had been "dead" on the beds suddenly woke up and did the same.

Noticing Sakuya's weirded-out stare, they awkwardly put a finger to their lips.

THUD—

The wall shook violently, and Patchouli's face flushed as memories of the previous night resurfaced.

It's broad daylight—how can they not hold back?!

"B-Boss—ah!—l-let's talk this out~!"

"J-just now—ohhh~—that was Remilia! Not—ungh!—not me!"

"If you keep this up, I'll—GYAAAA!!!"

After a few seconds of strange silence, frantic scratching sounds followed.

In mere moments, Marisa's defiant protests melted into desperate pleas.

"T-there's—ah!—people here!!"

"L-let's just—mmph~—practice! Yeah, just practice!"

"Too many—ohhh~—too many people affects performance... Y-you wouldn't want to—ah!—underwhelm anyone, right?!"

"Nngh—gulp~"

Marisa's voice cut off, but everyone listening had already imagined plenty of scandalous scenarios.

"This feels familiar."

"You've eavesdropped before?"

"No, I think I read about something like this in a book. A similar case to what's happening to Marisa."

"What book?"

"School Days."
