Earlier, Ava had spent one dollar in the system to buy Holy Glow, healing his external injuries. His life was no longer in danger, but after fighting for so long—and constantly burning through his only fire spell—he didn't even have the strength to twitch a finger.
But what was up with Lorne?
Ava remembered perfectly well: she had spent five dollars to purchase Holy Beam and healed him too. He should've been just fine by now.
Hearing footsteps, Kyle looked up. When he saw Ava approaching, his face instantly broke into a bright, radiant smile. Noticing her puzzled glance toward Lorne, he quickly spoke up, eager to explain:
"He... he's just too heartbroken. He was the only one who survived from their squad. Even his best friend—his sworn brother, Lucien—died. He couldn't accept it... and, well, earlier he... he tried to..."Ava's expression didn't even flicker.
"...Oh. Suicide, huh." Had she known that earlier, she wouldn't have bothered saving him. What a waste of five bucks.
