Chapter 13 - The Unexpected Awakening

LEON'S POV:~

Sarah is teaching me how to use magic. her eyes alight with a playful intensity, "Imagine the world as a canvas," she said, her voice a melodic whisper, "where words are the brushstrokes, and magic, the vibrant paint."

"Magic spells here," she continued, her gaze unwavering, "are born from precise commands, a symphony of syllables woven with intent. To conjure a fireball, a novice must first embrace the image, feel its heat, and then, with unwavering conviction, pronounce its name: ignis pila."

As the ancient words escaped her lips, a ball of pure, incandescent fire materialized, hovering just inches from her outstretched hand. It pulsed with a life of its own, casting a warm, flickering glow upon the surrounding forest. "The name alone is not enough," she explained, her voice laced with a hint of wonder. "You must visualize its essence, imbue it with your will. Otherwise, the magic remains dormant."

"To propel this fiery sphere," she declared, her eyes gleaming, "we invoke the command of speed: velocitas. To dictate its velocity, we add a numerical value. For five meters per second, we say velocitas quinque." With a flick of her wrist and a surge of focused thought, the fireball shot forward, a blazing comet streaking through the twilight, before colliding with a sturdy oak trunk, its fiery dance abruptly extinguished.

"A simple demonstration," she announced, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Now, for a more intricate spell." She painted a vivid picture in the air with her hands. "Imagine a fireball, no, a fire cube, two meters on each side, hurtling twenty meters at five meters per second, then vanishing."

Sarah's brow furrowed, a moment of concentration passing over her features. "The commands, of course, are… intricate."

She drifted a few steps away, her gaze falling to the forest floor. "Ah, yes," she murmured, her voice regaining its confidence. "Let's begin."

" Ignis pila," she intoned, and a small, flickering flame appeared just above the runes. "Now, the shape… cubus… figurae… latus… duae… velocitatis…" Her voice wavered, her eyes darting between the runes and the nascent fireball. "Ah, quinque… obsessio… viginti… progressus!"

She was having a lot of difficulty in chanting and was repeatedly looking at the ground below. Sarah raised the hand in which the fire ball was so that if the fire ball was shot, the forest would not be harmed. After saying 5 words, she started searching for a word.

"Found it, quinque... obsessio... viginti... progressus!"

A transformation occurred. The flickering flame erupted into a massive, perfectly formed fire cube, its edges sharp and defined, radiating an intense heat. It soared into the sky, a blazing beacon against the darkening canvas, before vanishing in a flash of light.

"Did you see?" she asked, her voice filled with a mixture of triumph and relief.

"It was incredible," I breathed, my eyes wide with awe.

I joined her on the forest floor, mimicking her earlier gesture, " Ignis pila," I whispered, and a small, tentative flame flickered to life in my palm.

"You know," Sarah said, a playful lilt in her voice, "when you sat down beside me, I thought you were going to propose. But then I remembered, you're Leon."

"By the way, can Fairy read Japanese?"

"Surprisingly, yes," she replied, her eyes widening slightly. "She can read them. I was as surprised as you are."

"That's fantastic! We can decipher the texts here," I exclaimed. "Can she read English?"

"No," Sarah replied, her voice tinged with regret. "English is beyond her grasp."

"Perfect," I said, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "From now on, we'll discuss our secrets in English." I pointed to a specific word. "What does this one mean?"

"Murus," she answered. "It's the spell for a wall. Ignis murus for a wall of fire, aqua murus for a wall of water."

"And progressus?" I inquired

"It's the command for launching spells, like the fireball," she explained.

"I think I understand," I said, my gaze sweeping across the words

The embers of the fire cube still danced in Sarah's eyes, a reflection of the magic she'd just commanded. "There are more," she confessed, a hint of wistfulness in her voice, "spells I've misplaced in the labyrinth of my memory. I'll consult Fairy tomorrow, and we'll unravel them together." A sudden thought sparked in her eyes. "Leon," she asked, her voice softening, "do you remember the large teddy bear in my room?"

"The pink one?" I replied, a faint image surfacing in my mind.

"Yes," she sighed, "I always slept with it. It helped me drift off to sleep. But it's not here. So… could you… perhaps… be my teddy bear? Please?" Her cheeks flushed a delicate rose, her eyes pleading. "Please don't say no."

A flicker of amusement danced within me. Sarah's perception of the world, her naive trust, was a fragile thing. I decided to introduce a touch of reality, to show her that not everyone was as innocent as she believed. "Sure," I said, my voice smooth and deceptive.

"Yes, yes, I knew you'd—wait, really?" Her blush deepened, her surprise evident.

"Yes," I repeated, my gaze lingering on the curves beneath her simple tunic. "I don't think I can hold back any longer." I began to move towards her, a predatory glint in my eyes. Sarah remained still, her expression a mix of confusion and anticipation. I wanted to shatter her illusion, to reveal the wolf beneath the sheep's wool.

I closed the distance, my hand reaching out to touch her cheeks, then her lips. a flicker of unease crossed her features. I pulled her close, wrapping my arms around her, my face buried in the delicate curve of her neck. I inhaled deeply, the scent of her skin filling my senses. I felt her stiffen, the playful anticipation replaced by a growing discomfort. My hand moved lower, cupping her buttocks, the soft fabric of her clothing a thin veil between my touch and her skin.

"You never told me you had such a nice booty," I murmured, my voice a low growl. "I want to have you, now."

"Leon," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, "don't you think this is a bit… soon?"

"When you asked me to be your teddy bear," I said, my voice laced with a dark amusement, "I assumed you expected more than just a cuddle."

"I can see you're playing hard to get." She said. "Do you want me that much?"

Why is she not scared?
