Chapter 64 - 64. The Real Truth

Wang Feng held his breath. His mind was filled with questions, but one thing was clear: the woman in front of him was no ordinary being.

"You… you are the other half of the Dragon God's split soul?" he asked, his voice trembling.

The woman gazed at him for a long moment, as if weighing whether he was worthy of the truth. Finally, she gave a slow nod. "I am the Silver Dragon King. The remaining half of the Dragon God's soul… after the betrayal in the Divine Realm."

"Betrayal?" Wang Feng frowned, his heart pounding.

Her ice-blue eyes reflected a complex swirl of emotions—sadness, anger, and confusion. "I don't remember everything that happened. At the time, the Dragon God… I… was trying to elevate the entire Divine Realm to a higher level. A Divine Star. A dream only the highest beings could realize…"

She looked up at the ceiling, as if trying to see the past.

"But suddenly, everything collapsed. I don't know how. The only thing I remember is the Shura God's sword… cutting through this body."

Wang Feng held his breath. "The Shura's sword…?"

The woman nodded slightly. "That sword was supposed to end everything. But perhaps the Dragon God… was too powerful to be destroyed. The sword only split my soul into two parts."

"One became the Golden Dragon King, and the other… me. The Silver Dragon King."

Wang Feng was confused. Not because he couldn't absorb the information, but because the history this woman described and the story told by the Light Dragon King when he came to his temple… were different.

The Light Dragon King had said that when the Dragon God attempted to transform the Shenlong Realm into a Divine Star, he suddenly went mad. The ten Dragon Kings and eight other racial God Kings tried to stop him. They succeeded—but at great cost. Seven Dragon Kings and three other racial God Kings were killed by the mad Dragon God.

The remaining racial God Kings wanted to kill the Dragon God to prevent more bloodshed. But the three surviving Dragon Kings did not agree. In the end, unwilling to fight their old comrades and cause more casualties, the three Dragon Kings chose to take their own lives so as not to hinder the other gods.

That was the version the Light Dragon King had told Wang Feng.

Wang Feng stood tall, his face reflecting deep confusion. The contradiction between the two histories twisted through his thoughts.

He studied the silver-haired woman in front of him carefully, then finally decided to ask directly. "Why is the history you told me different from the one I know?"

The silver-haired woman slightly furrowed her delicate brows, her eyes sharp yet tinged with confusion. Her gaze remained calm, but the cold aura she exuded was enough to make the air feel tense.

"What do you mean… different?" she asked softly, but each word carried a weight that couldn't be ignored.

Wang Feng took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice steady. "The Light Dragon King… one of the ten Dragon Kings, told me that the Dragon God—you—went mad while trying to raise the Shenlong Realm into a Divine Star. You destroyed everything. Seven Dragon Kings and three other racial God Kings died trying to stop you. Then, the three remaining Dragon Kings, including the Light Dragon King, chose to… take their own lives so they wouldn't stand in the way of the other gods killing you."

The woman's eyes widened slightly—just for a moment—but it was enough to show she hadn't expected that.

"What?"

Her voice remained low and cold, but Wang Feng could feel the tension in her body. Her silver gaze, usually unshakable, now held something unfamiliar—shock. She slowly shook her head, her eyes fixed on Wang Feng without blinking.

"That… doesn't make sense."

She turned her face away, her gaze drifting as though trying to unearth long-buried memories. For the first time, her voice sounded fragile—almost a whisper.

"I never remembered anything like that. The last thing I recall… I was trying to uplift the Divine Realm. Then… emptiness. When I awoke, the Shura Sword had already struck me. And then… I was split from myself."

The woman murmured, "It seems I must investigate the truth that has been buried for so long."

Wang Feng tried to offer a suggestion. "Maybe… the part of the Dragon God's memory within the Golden Dragon King holds the answer."

"But the Golden Dragon King is sealed in the God Realm now, and I can't go there. If the gods see me, they might try to kill me immediately."

The woman nodded slowly, then spoke in a flat but firm voice, "The Golden Dragon King is sealed in the God Realm. I cannot go there. If the gods see me… they might try to kill me before I even reach the gate."

Wang Feng lowered his head for a moment, then looked up with eyes full of determination. "In that case… help me become a god. After that, I will investigate everything in the God Realm."

The woman looked at him deeply. Her gaze didn't change—still cold and sharp. "No. I don't know who you truly are. Even though the Light Dragon King chose you as his successor… I can't entrust my life to you just like that. There is another way."

"Another way?"

"I will summon the remaining consciousness of the Light Dragon King that still exists within your soul ring."

"You can do that?" Wang Feng asked, slightly surprised.

The woman stared at him without blinking. "If it were just an ordinary soul ring, probably not. But this is the soul ring of a Dragon King. They store remnants of their consciousness within… faint though it may be, it can still be awakened."

"Alright... then what should I do?"

"Summon your soul ring. Let me take care of the rest."

Wang Feng nodded slowly. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, summoned the Shenlong Emperor Martial Soul, and revealed the only soul ring it had.

"What now?" Wang Feng asked.

"Keep your eyes closed. Don't open them until I say so," the woman said as she stepped closer to Wang Feng.

Then, the silver-haired woman embraced Wang Feng and touched her forehead to his.

Wang Feng felt something strange and accidentally opened his eyes. He saw the woman was right in front of him—he could even feel her long eyelashes brushing against his skin.

He stood still. His breath caught in his throat. The distance between them was too close. He didn't just see her—he could feel her presence. The cold yet gentle aura from her body caressed his skin like a fog. A faint fragrance from her silver hair drifted in the air, like morning dew falling upon a snow flower.

But what truly froze Wang Feng wasn't just that.

Her eyes—those silver eyes—opened slightly. And from behind that soft gaze, a vortex of deep power emerged. As if the night sky and the brilliance of stars were condensed into a single pair of eyes. The two of them stared at each other in silence, a silence fragile yet heavy with meaning.

"Why did you open your eyes...?" she whispered. Her voice didn't sound angry—just… soft, almost like a murmur. But Wang Feng felt an unfamiliar tremor in her tone—was that nervousness?

"I... didn't mean to," Wang Feng replied in a low voice. "It just... felt strange."

She didn't pull away. Instead, she closed her eyes again and let out a gentle breath.

"It's fine if it's already happened. But don't move," she said softly.

Then, power began to flow. Wang Feng could feel it—like a wave of silver entering through his forehead and flowing into the core of his soul. Cold, yet healing. Deep, yet not painful.

"By merging a bit of our consciousness... I can delve deeper into your soul ring. Into the locked memories of the Light Dragon King."

Wang Feng gave a slight nod, though his body remained stiff from the awkward position. The sound of his heartbeat grew louder, and he wasn't sure if it was due to the woman's power… or their almost nonexistent distance.

Then… the world around them began to fade.

As if they were being pulled into a vortex of silver light, a place where time stood still, and only the two of them existed. Suddenly, images began to appear around them—memories. A sky filled with dragons, a palace floating among the clouds, and the figure of the Dragon God standing tall with both hands holding up the heavens and earth.

Wang Feng realized—they were entering the memories locked within the soul ring.

"I won't ask how you feel," the woman said softly, still in their extremely close position. "But know this—this is not just the past of a Dragon King. This… is now a part of you."

Wang Feng swallowed hard. His eyes stared at the memories taking clearer shape before him. "No matter what I find… I won't back down."

The woman gave a slight nod, her forehead still pressed against his. "Then let us see what has been buried by time and betrayal."

And so, they stepped into the memories together—in a silence that could only be understood by those bound by fate and truths long forgotten.
