"Sorry to bother you, we're here to apply for membership in the Ghoul Research Society."
At this moment, Uchiha Byakuya spoke.
One of the boys was the first to react. "Oh oh! Alright, alright, could you please fill out this form first?"
He immediately brought over four application forms.
After that, Byakuya and the others truthfully filled in their information, including their status as either human or ghoul.
Byakuya and Arima Kishou both filled in "half-human." Uruka Minami filled in "ghoul," and Yoshimura Eto, naturally, filled in "half-ghoul."
Once they completed the forms, it basically meant they had officially joined the club.
Since the Ghoul Research Society already had so few members, the current members were just afraid they'd back out at the last minute. There was absolutely no way they'd reject their applications.
"Well then, let me start by introducing myself to you, Chairman and everyone."
The boy collected the forms and immediately began his self-introduction. "I'm currently the president of the Ghoul Research Society, and also an international student from China. My name is Mo Mo."
Oh?
Byakuya was slightly surprised.
He hadn't expected the other party to be an international student from abroad.
"But I'm human, not a ghoul. I just have a deep interest in ghouls."
Mo Mo added this with a bright, clean smile on his face. His features were quite decent too.
"I'm Suzuki Aoka, the vice president of the Ghoul Research Society, and also a ghoul."
Next to Mo Mo sat a tall girl with a beautiful face and blue-green hair.
"But I've never harmed a human. Since I was young, my parents would find corpses for me to eat. Now that there are ghoul-specialized nutritional foods, I don't even eat that stuff anymore."
To avoid making them uncomfortable, Suzuki Aoka made sure to emphasize her background.
Next, the rest of the Ghoul Research Society members introduced themselves to Byakuya and the others in turn.
"Can you tell us more about what kind of activities your club usually does?"
At this point, Eto asked.
"We mostly research things related to ghouls, like kagune, kakuhou, and quinques. Aside from that, we just hang out and relax in the clubroom."
Mo Mo replied.
"Huh? You guys can actually get your hands on things like quinques?"
Minami was visibly surprised.
Because even within the TSC, not everyone had access to quinques.
The organization still operated under much of the old CCG's framework, and using quinques came with certain requirements.
That's why she found it unexpected that these students could get hold of weapons so tightly regulated by the TSC.
"Uh… well, we actually haven't gotten any yet, but we're working on it."
Mo Mo said a little awkwardly. "For now, we mainly focus on researching kagune, kakuhou, and RC cells. The rest of the time we just chat and play games in the clubroom."
"That's fine too."
Byakuya nodded slightly.
"Honestly, it's just hard to believe that people as important as you are actually new freshmen at our school. Don't tell me you're all younger than us?"
At that moment, one of the girls couldn't help but speak in awe.
Aside from Byakuya and his group, all the current members of the Ghoul Research Society were upperclassmen, meaning at least second-year students.
None of them were younger than nineteen years old.
Whereas Byakuya and Eto, as well as Arima and Minami were all exactly eighteen.
"We're all eighteen…"
Byakuya said with a smile.
"No way?! You're all really just eighteen?!"
That girl was immediately dumbfounded.
The rest of the Ghoul Research Society members were equally stunned.
While it was normal for incoming freshmen to be around eighteen years old, applying that age to these four individuals was just too exaggerated.
The TSC's Chairman, the One-Eyed Owl, a Dragon General, and a Quasi-Dragon General, basically the top combat power not only in the Tokyo region, but probably all of Japan and Asia.
And all four of them… were only eighteen?
How could they not be shocked?
"Yeah, although both Kishou and I have white hair, that's because we're half-humans. Before absorbing the dragon toxin, our lifespans were relatively short."
Byakuya explained, "But come to think of it, Kishou should be turning nineteen soon."
"So it's true… That's incredible!"
At that moment, Byakuya could clearly feel their awestruck gazes.
He gave a slightly awkward smile.
After that, the four of them took some time to familiarize themselves with the clubroom.
After spending a while in the Ghoul Research Society, Byakuya and the others got ready to head to the next club to apply for membership.
That would be the Literature Club.
However, as soon as they arrived in front of the clubroom, they could already see through the window that the Literature Club was packed with people. Just by its name, it was obviously a very popular club.
But…
Perhaps because there were too many people, not many were actually reading books. Most were chatting, on their phones, or playing on computers.
Seeing this, Eto couldn't help but say, "How about we just join the Ghoul Research Society for now? I feel like this Literature Club isn't really for me."
It wasn't that she disapproved of people playing on their phones or chatting, she just felt that this kind of environment wasn't really suitable for reading or writing.
She definitely needed a quiet setting.
Why would one join a Literature Club in the first place? Simply to have a good environment to read.
"I agree. No real reason to join this one."
Byakuya said bluntly.
He could tell why Eto didn't want to join the Literature Club here.
And it wasn't just because of her, even he himself wasn't fond of clubs that were too crowded.
"True, too many people isn't a good thing either."
Minami said.
"I think the Ghoul Research Society is enough. Or perhals that TSC Enthusiast Club would be alright too."
Arima added.
And just like that, the four of them gave up on the idea of joining the Literature Club.
But compared to academics and club activities, their top priority would always be TSC-related matters.
The school was well aware of their duties, so they gave them a lot of freedom as well.
Only when they had free time would they attend club activities.
Lately, things had been relatively quiet since there weren't any major issues at the TSC that required their attention.
"Once again, we'll have to trouble Vice President Suzuki today to let us study your kagune again."
Right then, inside the clubroom, another round of club activities was about to begin.
