Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 "Return To Rebels"

Revenge of Chaos Insurgency

Chapter 2 "Return To Rebels"

October 3, 2030

Marking 4 years after the tragedy in Site 19, the FM and other Chaos Insurgency Generals decided to start the operation immediately against the GOC in Sector Bacardi in South America. I was sent there with my company on a submarine because the GOC naval fleet was patrolling around the water and not letting anyone enter or out of Sector Bacardi. The only thing on my mind and other soldiers ' minds is: Is there something they hide from the rest of the world? If that's so, then it makes sense to have all these extra protections. But what were they hiding here? No one knows.

A few hours later, we traveled in the submarine to the coast of the country of what is known as Chile. We immediately left the submarine and walked on foot to our destinations. According to Captain Allen, he was given commands by the FM to meet with one of the chaos insurgency factions here, that is, T.O.P. Shoota. When I first heard the name, I thought, what a weird name for a faction, sounds like a name that was made up a kid. It was kind of stupid when we first hear it.

Walking deep into the Forest for more than 1-4 KM away from the coastlines, our company was greeted by something that's crippled our moral at first glance, A mass graveyard, no it's not graves, it's more like a place to dispose the dead bodies of innocent people or who were against the local governor or GOC which ends up here after being killed by the local governor.

I notice a hand standing from the graveyard, staring at the hand that's not buried properly. I can tell the person that got killed here was innocent and a victim of a corrupt local governor.

Captain Allen suddenly dropped his equipment and grabbed a shovel to dig in the graves, other soldiers also followed Captain Allen. In act of humanity, I also grabbed my tactical military shovel and dug on the mass graves, one by one we took out the dead bodies of innocent people that got killed by the local governor, counting down in my heart, I can tell it's not one or 10 its more of a hundreds or even thousands of dead bodies were disposed here. Praying inside my heart, I can only whisper some prayers to the dead bodies here to rest in peace.

After taking out all the dead bodies, we start digging a better grave for the dead bodies, and we honor the people who died here to rest in the afterlife in peace.

After doing this, we continue advancing toward our destinations. I can hear the echoes from those people who died here thanking us for burying them in a better place. I might be crazy for hearing all such kinds of things like this, but it's much better that I can hear them thanking us even though they are spirits or ghosts.

It's very late now, the sun is already down, and the night rises, covering our tracks in the forest. The GOC is patrolling with a helicopter, searching for rebels and militia in the forest. I can say that this is more like a dictator trying to kill the opposition and revolutionary people.

Arriving at the base of the factions, the only thing I see is hundreds of coffins in the entrance waiting to be buried, people here gathering trying to survive, some taking the rations and the T.O.P. soldiers calm down the crowd and distribute the rations, walking deeply into the base, the soldier here already lost hope, many withdrawals. I can say they're afraid of potentially high casualties, but many philosophers have always said high casualties might be needed for higher rewards. The leader of T.O.P. acts differently and plays safely and defensively, not offensively. They are playing a stupid game with no guarantee of victory; if they wanted to gain a significant victory, they must sacrifice many lives to gain it. I know it's not easy to change war strategy, and I know that T.O.P. Shoota is trying to minimize the casualties, stupid strategy.

Resting inside the barracks that were created for us, Captain Allen and First Lieutenant Kiriyama Tachibana meet with the Leader of T.O.P. Shoota to discuss the future operation, resting on the bed, staring at the roof. I stare blankly; this is my first operation. I was scared, will I come back alive, or will I end up in the pit of the dead bodies?

The next day, waking up earlier than others, I head outside to take a look at the sun that rises, shining in our sight. Countless dead bodies will be taken to the coast to be drowned because there's no more land available for the grave for those who die on the battlefield. GOC howitzer echoes on the other side, far away from our position, signaling that the GOC bombardment at the militia and cartel positions is starting.

Feeling the fresh air in the morning, I feel relaxed, but it only lasts for a while because today is the start of our operation. A few minutes passed, soldiers one by one woke up from their beds and barracks, heading toward their posts and fields. Come down to nearby post, seeing the soldier on the post lost their morals to continue the war, I understand their pain, loss by loss, withdrawal by withdrawal, failure by failure, many of them are just teenagers who want to free their country and take their rights, so young end up here, losing their morals to the endless war and never have any significant victory over the enemy, the enemy joking about them and making them as jokes. Shaking my head before returning to my barrack, I can see my teammates start waking up and heading towards the meeting room, indicating that the briefing of the operations plan is about to start.

In the meeting room, many operators from T.O.P. Shoota have gathered first before us, wearing only clothes and armed with AKM assault rifles, standard militia uniforms, and weapons, to fight against a big organization that is more advanced than them, with this being a deathwish. They are searching for death for themselves. After entering the meeting room, Captain Allen shakes his hand with the leader of T.O.P. Shoota and start discussing about their plan to capture the GOC Bastions that prevent them to utilize and advance to GOC Main Base Operations, if they wanted to capture the bastions, they must prepared a lot of weapons and armored vehicle, maybe APC and IFV is more than enough to attack the GOC positions, with its long range attack, it can support the troops to advance while minimizing the casualties on our side. With the GOC being suppressed due to the APC's long-range attack, the bastions can be captured, and we can reclaim them for us once more.

Listening to the conversations, the T.O.P. Shoota leader want to use Defensive Doctrine and advance slowly to enemy positions and bastion while Captain Allen suggests to immediately attack at the bastion because the GOC is focus eliminating cartel nearby Bastion Delta, our target right now is Bastion Romeo, if we can capture it, we can turn the GOC objective and force them a dual confrontation on 2 fronts.

After the meeting, both parties left with an agreement to attack the GOC Bastion Romeo and capture it, thus making a big change to the war in Sector Bacardi.

Late midnight, leaving the barrack, I can see from far away the GOC bombardment with their howitzer and rocket missile bombard place what they believed as cartel and gang member but from our intelligence agents there, it's only a place for civilians, the entire population gets brutally killed by the GOC and the Riot Police, climbing to the bunker roof. Sergeant Kiriyama Tachibana sits on the roof, smoking while also drinking Sake, a traditional Japan Alcohol, made from rice, but its taste is lighter than whiskey. Noticing me behind her, she only scoffs and speaks to me:

"Come sit with me, I have some Sake for the rest of the night, I can't drink all of it."

Approaching her and sitting next to her, she offers me a shot of sake to me and I take it, taking a shot, I feel much better, the same makes me lot better, but still I more like Soju, Korean Alcohol because its more light and can be drink a lot without cause headaches or drunk, Sake in other hands can make people drunk after drink it more than 2 bottle of Sake.

Sergeant Kiriyama Tachibana looks at me and smirks.

"Is the Sake tasty, Cadet? I hope your alcohol tolerance is high, so you don't get drunk easily."

Chuckling, I can only reply

"Don't worry, ma'am, I have high alcohol tolerance, I've been drinking soju since high school. "

Sergeant Kiriyama only replies

"Alright, I believe your words, better hurry up, we must get back to bed before Captain Allen finds us drinking here all night."

After that, we return to our barracks and sleep. The night becomes much colder now, indicating something dangerous is approaching us.

To be continued...
