A month passed by in a flash. In a clearing near an abandoned warehouse area, loud roar reverberated through a clearing as I turned sideways, dodging an incoming blow from a Honkai zombie.
The zombie did not relent as she immediately corrected her course and sprung at me with her claws, ready to rip me apart.
A smile entered my lips as I casually grabbed its outstretched arm and twisted it, causing her entire body to turn before I smashed down on its head with a Blue enhanced punch.
Crunch
I will one hundred percent tell you that it wasn't a fun experience to do it.
That wasn't the end of it as in an instant, three other zombies were already jumping me as well.
It was barely a battle as I weaved through the attacks with ease.
Three quick strikes to the heads of the offending creatures instantly put them down once and for all.
"Subject Gojo has killed all the creatures?" Bronya's voice sounded out. As I looked in her direction, I noticed that Project Bunny was smashing a zombie into the ground with its lance while I gave a nod in reply.
On the other side, it was Kiana holding her pistol still fighting several zombies.
"Hahahahaha!!!!"
"I'm going to be the strongest!!!"
She wasn't in trouble, but it took a little bit longer than both Bronya and I.
It made sense. She didn't have a mecha or the ability to adapt to any and all phenomena.
"Subject Gojo. How should we tell her?" Bronya gestured over.
"I guess we just let her be." I shrugged. "She'll find out later."
Bronya nodded. Her face became slightly more serious as she said, "Amount of honkai pulses have increased dramatically recently in Nagazora."
"That's... troubling..." I sighed. "And school is starting tomorrow too..."
"Hey! Why is there a Honkai beast here?!"
Kiana's loud shout immediately caught the attention of both Bronya and I. As we looked over, we were greeted with the sight of a weird creature with a white body. It stood on two large hooves on its front as it stood tall, probably standing about 10m+ tall.
So the question is now...
Why was a frigging Kaiju here?
Without wasting any time, it stomped with its massive hoof.
Kiana backflipped in order to avoid the blow. As she did, she shot a few bullets towards it.
No damage.
"Threat detected. Chariot Class Honkai Beast has appeared." Bronya frowned and clenched her fists. "This density... is anomalous for non-Eruption state..."
I didn't answer.
Kiana was already being overwhelmed at the moment as the Honkai beast hit her with the edge of its hoof and sent her flying.
Blue
In a burst of speed, I had already appeared behind Kiana, catching her before she was sent flying.
"Are you okay?" I asked, my eyes still staring at the Honkai beast, a Chariot class one according to Bronya.
"I'm fine. Godzilla just caught me a bit off guard." Kiana sneered as she stood back with my help. It seemed that the blow hadn't connected too cleanly.
That was fortunate.
The Honkai beast didn't care about our conversation.
With a dip of its massive body, it charged.
"Gojo! We gotta get outta here! It's going to turn us into that pancake I had for breakfast!" Kiana tugged at my sleeve in a panic, trying to pull me away.
However, I stayed rooted where I stood.
"Relax," I said, raising a hand lazily. "Just watch."
The beast barreled closer, the earth trembling under its weight.
And then, it stomped.
A huge explosion of dust blasted outward, swallowing the clearing.
The Honkai beast let out a confused grunt as it stomped down a few times again. It seemed to be confused, as if it wasn't sure if it actually hit its target.
The dust cleared, it looked around, scanning for me.
But, I was not there.
Instead, I was already leaning casually against one of its massive hooves, Kiana still in my arm held like a bag.
"Uhhhh... I feel like I'm gonna vomit...' Kiana covered her mouth as she moaned out with a slightly green face.
I ignored her complaints as I glanced up at the towering beast.
"Well," I said lazily, tapping my knuckles once against the hoof. "I'm going to show off a little alright? My friends are watching."
The Chariot froze, its instincts finally catching up.
It immediately lifted its hoof up again, trying to make another attack.
But this time, I didn't dodge.
I cocked my fist back. A low hum filled the air as a soft blue glow and Honkai energy flared together across my hand.
Then, I punched.
Our limbs collided, causing a huge shockwave that reverberated through the area. The nearby trees rustled as some branches broke apart from the force.
Chunks of white armor and shards of crystal flew in all directions, embedding themselves into the earth with loud thuds.
In less than a second, the Chariot was no longer in the world of the living.
Only the ruined clearing and a stunned silence remained.
"Ah..." I sighed. "I thought you were stronger..."
"You..." Kiana croaked out, shifting her gaze to me. Her burning stare, was as if she was seeing me for the first time again.
"Are you impressed by my awe-inspiring power, Kiana?" I teased as I turned back to her.
"That..." she sputtered. "That was INSANE!!!"
I laughed. "I know right! I'm so awesome!"
"You were like, 'I'm going to show off here' and boom! The honkai beast was dead!" KIana's eyes became brighter and brighter. "When did you get so strong? You were like a Kiana victim last time!"
"I'm pretty sure I was the one beating you up the entire time..."
"Bah, you're remembering wrongly." Kiana's face scrunched up. "Don't get cocky just because you're a little bit stronger now! I'll surpass you soon enough, because I'm Kiana Kaslana!!"
"Did you hear that from a manga?"
"Bleh" Kiana stuck out her tongue.
"Anyways..." I rolled my eyes. "Secretary! You're not paid to sit there!!"
"Yes, boss..." The exhaustion in Bronya's voice was clear as she did not bother to fight back. "What do you want..."
"Huh?" Kiana blinked as she kept looking between Bronya and I. They quickly widened however as a proverbial lightbulb(filled with cobwebs) shone on her head.
Uh oh, she's thinking again.
It might be time to run.
"You guys have something going on without me!!" She immediately accused, pointing at us.
"The Bronya... is merely in an agreement with Subject Gojo..." Bronya said unsurely, slightly looking away as she did so.
"That's not convincing at all!!" Kiana shouted. "If she's the secretary, I call CEO!"
"The business would fail in half a day." I deadpanned.
"I don't care. I'm going to be Bronya's superior!." Kiana crossed her arms.
"The Bronya believes that we should be discussing the Honkai beast." Bronya hurriedly spoke out.
It seemed that she was afraid that I would actually do that.
"What's up with that thing?" I pointed towards it. "Can I get one of my own?"
I really wanted to ride one of them. It would be even better if it could be a dragon!
Dragon Knight Gojo Satoru...
Thinking about it gives me chills.
"Records show that the Second Herscherr had a dragon companion Honkai beast. Perhaps if Subject Gojo became one, he could obtain one too."
"Aww... too bad." My enthusiasm dropped. However, my expression became serious in an instant, causing the mood of everyone around to change at once. "Is this supposed to happen with higher Honkai concentration?"
"Affirmative. However, the Bronya does not understand..." Bronya's voice reduced to a whisper at the end.
"What?" Kiana asked.
"Ant- Schicksal should not be planting this many Honkai devices in the city." Bronya's gaze shifted to the ground. "Risks of causing a large scale disaster is significantly elevated."
Ooh... she almost slipped there.
Pushing down the small smile that almost made to my face, I continued. "In that case, is your superior that you promised almost here? Maybe he or she can help?"
"The Bronya doesn't know when they will arrive." Bronya sighed. "However, the Bronya will report this to her superiors."
"Do you know anything about this then Bronya?" I stared straight at her.
Bronya however, did not reciprocate, "No."
She's... not lying?
I'm surprised.
Could she... actually be sent on this mission without knowing the full extent of it?
In that case, is she just a small fry? There's no reason why someone higher up would not know of these things.
Or maybe... just maybe...
She was still a higher up.
But, she was one that wouldn't agree to such heavy handed actions?
Putting a hand on my chin, I decided to add an extra test. "Bronya. You're going to help us stop this right?"
Her breath hitched the moment I said that. She stayed still for a moment, her lips parting slightly as if to speak, but no words came out.
Only after a few seconds did she nod, almost mechanically.
"Yes..." she said, voice even quieter than usual if that were possible.
Ah...
It was clear that she was very hesitant. Pretty normal when you've been brainwashed by your organisation for some time.
However, even if she wasn't a hundred percent in it, there was a silver lining.
She wasn't lying.
A smile finally appeared on my face.
I can work with that.
