Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Exceptions Can Be Ignored

Chapter 68: Exceptions Can Be Ignored

Under normal circumstances, encountering a Dragonite would certainly fill the production team members with exceptional joy.

After all, this type of pseudo-legendary Pokémon is truly elusive. Their reproduction rate is incredibly low, making them exceedingly rare both in the human world and within wild reserves.

Just think back to how Fang Lingyuan's Dragonair at the Haili Youth Training Camp made countless people green with envy; that Pokémon is worth as much as a house in a first-tier city.

Unfortunately, in the current atmosphere, they felt none of that anticipation.

This was because the first thing the Dragonite saw upon arriving at high speed was: a devastated sea surface, a catastrophic scene, their own kin weakly crying for help, and a small human boat conveniently stopped right at the location of the incident.

It must be said, the timing was indeed far too coincidental.

"Roar! Humans, you are seeking death!!"

An irate roar descended from the sky, accompanied by a colossal dragon-shaped phantom. Like a bomber plane diving to drop its payload, it howled as it charged towards Arthur's boat.

The immense pressure felt like directly facing a falling sky, causing every hair on the back of their necks to stand on end in terror.

The leading Dragonite appeared to have an extremely short temper, launching a major attack right off the bat.

This move was one of the ultimate Dragon-type attacks: Dragon Rush!

"It's over..."

At that moment, the production team members were already too terrified to move.

"Dragon Rush" inherently carries the effect of making opponents flinch.

Only Arthur remained relatively calm. He had already run several steps towards the ship's railing, preparing to jump into the sea, but at the last moment, his peripheral vision caught several blue heads popping up ("plop, plop") consecutively from the sea surface behind the boat.

These blue heads with rabbit ears appeared and waved frantically towards the sky, finally stopping the enraged Dragonite, causing it to retract its attack just before hitting the sailboat.

They were none other than the Azumarill, who had been ordered by their tribe's matriarch to follow Arthur and Justin all along, intending to protect them secretly.

The furious Dragonite ultimately landed steadily on the deck.

And the massive dragon-shaped phantom, purely constructed from energy, was slowly dissipating above its head.

This scene nearly scared the pants off the production team members on the boat.

"Ho... Holy crap, we survived?!"

Having survived the near-death experience, they all made rather embarrassing sounds.

You couldn't really blame them; honestly, even the Azumarill that had just popped up were thoroughly frightened themselves.

They had assumed it would be a simple task, but now the Azumarill increasingly felt that these two humans were practically cursed.

This was probably the first time they realized that the reserve they had lived in for so many years was actually so dangerous.

Fortunately, they managed to jump out in time to explain the situation to the Dragonite on behalf of the humans.

"Chu chu."

"Aow."

Their communication didn't use human language, but there seemed to be no barriers, and the information exchange was quite rapid.

Before long, the Dragonite understood the general situation.

"So you're saying you didn't do this?" it then looked towards Arthur, currently the only one on the boat who remained composed.

Meanwhile, the other Dragonite that had been flying behind landed one after another. One had already descended into the sea ahead and rescued the dying Dragonair.

Seeing this, Arthur proactively pointed towards the boat's rear storage compartment.

"Indeed, we didn't do it. Also, we have Potions on board, do you need them?"

The Dragonite before him, the one that had just used "Dragon Rush," frowned, seeming somewhat reluctant to speak for a moment.

Just then, another Dragonite that had landed slightly later slapped it unceremoniously on the back of the head, forcefully pushing its head down, while simultaneously apologizing to Arthur: "So sorry about just now. Please, we must borrow some Potions, thank you."

This slap completely shattered the first Dragonite's cool and fierce dragon persona, and at the same time, it eased the tense and nervous feelings of everyone on the boat.

The suffocating feeling of life and death hanging in the balance just moments ago was instantly dispelled by the second Dragonite's slap.

However, moments later, the first dragon's head, which had been pushed down, quickly lifted again, posturing as if to roar once more, only to be immediately suppressed again.

"Roar my foot! Can't you see Little Sis is badly hurt? Can you heal her without human Potions? If you can't, then shut up!"

After being thoroughly scolded by its companion, the first dragon finally settled down and stopped making noise.

Although its expression remained just as cold, and its eyes constantly seemed to roll with killing intent, making it look utterly ferocious.

But suddenly, for no apparent reason, Arthur felt a slight urge to laugh.

He could no longer feel any sense of pressure from this Dragonite.

The feeling was like: initially thinking a cold-blooded, ruthless assassin had arrived, only to discover in the blink of an eye that it was just an impatient, impulsive goofball...

Soon after, the third Dragonite also boarded the ship, bringing along the injured Dragonair from the sea.

Arthur also retrieved several bottles of Pokémon Potions and some injectable painkillers from the cabin.

Subsequently, while helping to treat the Dragonair, their relationship with the three Dragonite improved considerably.

Since no names were exchanged, Arthur could only temporarily refer to them as Dragonite One, Dragonite Two, and Dragonite Three.

Dragonite One seemed to be the most intelligent, the one who had decisively slapped its companion earlier.

Dragonite Two was the one who went into the sea to rescue the Dragonair.

And the impulsive goofball who had charged in using "Dragon Rush" right at the beginning was Dragonite Three.

During the treatment process, Dragonite One was also asking Arthur about the situation, wanting to know the truth of the matter.

"I don't know much either. We came over earlier because we heard the Dragonair's cries for help. When we first arrived in this vicinity, there were residual effects of the Psychic-type skill 'Psychic Terrain'. The scene on the sea surface was obscured by illusions. My Froakie used a skill to break the illusion, and right after that, you all arrived."

The nearby Azumarill nodded quickly, their rabbit-like ears twitching rapidly in agreement with Arthur's words.

With the Azumarill, who lived in the same area, vouching for them, the Dragonite quickly believed Arthur's account.

Only Dragonite Three, embarrassed about the misunderstanding, snorted angrily, glared at Arthur, then turned its head aside, choosing to temporarily exit the group chat.

Throughout the encounter, Arthur had never been intimidated by it, which perhaps caused Dragonite Three to feel a bit embarrassed. Thus, it shifted its gaze back towards the other humans on the boat.

Being targeted again by its murderous eyes, the production team members seemed to recall the giant dragon shadow descending from the sky not long ago. Their hands trembled twice out of muscle memory, which finally satisfied Dragonite Three enough to avert its gaze.

Evidently, it realized its own intimidating presence wasn't flawed, and the additional effect of "Dragon Rush" hadn't failed either.

As for that strange human, he was just a special case; it was best to just ignore him.
